Tried to call and get some food to go. No one picked up the phone. Ended up going to Laurelwood.

No one at the door to greet you. No one comes to your table to offer menus or water. I had to go to the bar to get them. No one came to take a beer order until I raised my hand to the bartender. Server asked me if I wanted mayo on my Burger cause they’re dry. I said yes, but got no mayo. Had to flag down a server because my beer never showed up. Other tables Sat down and got beer before me, although I ordered it way before. Three people came to our table to ask us what we wanted. Whose section is who?!

I thought this place was lovely. The server was sweet and welcoming, the food was pretty decent and the fries were AMAZING! Plus it’s got the classic brewery vibe to it.

This is a seemingly underrated/under-the-radar brewpub somewhat tucked away in the Hollywood District(the original Laurelwood Brewing location, if I’m not mistaken). Excellent beers and delicious pub grub, and in our experience the service has always been cheerful and attentive, even when the place is quite full. My only«complaint»: I once ordered a whiskey Old Fashioned and it came out basically as a shooter. No ice, not shaken, no muddled anything… just whiskey, bitters, sugar(visible in the bottom), and a cherry stirred together at room temp in a lowball glass. It was definitely peculiar to sip but 1) I took it as lesson to stick with the aforementioned excellent beer, and 2) it served as a sort of antithetical comic relief to every bar in Portland(and beyond) peddling their own oh-so-special version of an Old Fashioned. So yeah, no complaints here!

In the Hollywood district they provide a nice, roomy unpretentious space to have a beer and some pub food — Burgers etc. I like the burger, I like the beer.

Beer was super tasty the elephant IPA was delicious. Service started off good and I won’t deny that we closed out not 1 not 2 but 3 times(annoying — I get it). However I would encourage the staff to be slightly more warm to people that are into their establishment, we had never been there, stoked to check it out as we live in the neighborhood and to hear from behind the bar that we needed to both leave and were cheap(sweet sir I’m in the industry tipped you 20% and then left an additional 7 on 20 because I’m an asshole and never want to feel like someone in the service industry feels unappreciated) same breathe– find a different job if your miserable that people are giving you their money and also leaving 25 minutes before you actually close. We all have bad days — I hope that’s all it was and you don’t make individuals feel so unwelcome on the regular … I literally didn’t finish my beer well before close because of feeling uncomfortable… Mission accomplished on your behalf I hope other’ing was worth the fact that not only will we not come back but we also won’t encourage others to as well.

The beers at CRB are true to their style. I have read many of the reviews that give it a 1 or 2 star. They have a theme — needy narcissists. No one needs you. I just did 12⁄16 on the Bend Ale Trail. No beer out of more than 100 was better than Hop Heaven or War Elephant. Some were as good, not better — Crux, Boneyard, Worthy. The food here is a 4 out of 5. Not craft, but upper tier pub fare. So there.

Horrible service and either bland or ok food. Extremely disappointed. This was our third attempt to try a local area. We were more friendly then they were. Very very disappointed.

I spend way too many weekends wandering around Portland brew pubs. I don’t get why this gem remains relatively unknown. Their beers cover as wide a range of styles and flavors as you will find anywhere in town. The brewer appears to prefer grain balance over tossing more flowers in the tank. If you are ordering food, be ready for leftovers. I did not bring a ruler with me but if that 6″ pizza was measured accurately, every guy in the world would feel short changed in comparison.

I’d like to start by saying that I have worked in food service for years and I’m not typically a complainer. I Found this place on Unilocal because it’s close to my apartment. Mistake. I called ahead to see if the happy hour prices applied for to go orders. The guy who answered the phone was kind of abrasive and condescending. Maybe it was unintentional, I’m not sure. I order a nacho without cheese for my friend is lactose intolerant. I order 4 buffalo wings without blue cheese, but a side of bbq to go with them. The total happy hour price was $ 14.00 together. 10 minutes later we walk over to pick it up. There is no one to greet us, so we walk over to the bar and explain that we ordered to go. The same guy aggressively asked us if we wanted tequila shots. I declined for the same reason the order was to go. Homework. Lots of homework. He returns with the bag and sits it on the counter. We pay. He gives us the change. We leave a tip. Upon getting home we find out that the nachos are just plain tortilla chips. Wtf? We scoop the chips out and find about a table spoon of really dry beans and a handful of dried jalapeños. Confused as to why I paid 7 bucks for these stale chips I call the place. The initial employee I spoke with was kind and understanding. But then she handed the phone to the first dude I interacted with. He was like«I understand you have a problem? You can come get more beans, if that will make it right.» I said no I’m already home. He goes«well then what do you want?» I’m like is this how all the to go nachos are? He then blamed it on the fact that there was no cheese. He begrudgingly apologized but it seemed like he was more annoyed than anything. The whole interaction was condescending at best. I didn’t even have the chance to mention that the hot wings had no hot sauce. Only the bbq on the side. Probably won’t be back.

Spinach salad is awesome. Fries are average. Nachos were dry, really dry. Beer is always good anywhere. Big bummer that they failed to tell us that happy hour is all day on Monday. We learned from other customers and from listening to other guests get told about happy hour. When we brought it to their attention they seemed nonchalant. They did end up giving us happy hour price for the nachos. The blonde waitress was apologetic and said«Yeah that happens sometimes when we get busy and there’s only two of us». I don’t give bad reviews very often but the food and service aren’t impressive enough to draw me in for the beer. They seemed far from busy but who am I to say? It really doesn’t take much extra time to say, «It’s happy hour all day today… Here’s the menu». Oh well, there are plenty of breweries in Portland and Vancouver. On to the next. If you’re just wanting beer, give it a try and order a spinach salad because that was delicious.

Definitely deserves a 4-star. Food was great. Service was great. The waitress was knowledgeable and provided information on the food. Clean diner and they were attentive. It’s quiet and not sure why it only has a three star rating. It’s a bit expensive, for lunch. Their happy hour looks good. Maybe next time we try it then. Overall, definitely worth coming back again.

We came here for happy hour before seeing a flick at the Hollywood. The servers were nice, we got right in. Their beer prices are pretty standard, I got a Russian Stout and their ‘Sandy Blonde’. They also had a beer called ‘Holy Diver’(or something really similar), what?! That one made us laugh, thinking of the awesomely bad, epic-rock song…‘holy diiiivah!!‘ If you’re there for Happy Hour, I wouldn’t order the nachos(too basic and lackluster). We enjoyed the pizza most and then the hummus(definitely not terrible, but again, nothing special). I was surprised at the pizza’s tastiness, for not being a ‘pizza place’, also I’d been craving it all day sooo… it really hit the spot. Also the table tops could’ve been a little cleaner, slightly sticky. All in all, I’d never specifically seek it out on it’s own, but it’s a good stop for a quick bite, if you’re out and about or on your way somewhere.

Stopped at this spot randomly. Actually had a decent lineup. Vanilla porter is stellar. Good vibe at this spot. Recommend giving this spot a try. Parvis, Inc.

Our favorite neighborhood spot. We usually go at slightly off times about 4PM or so. The service has always been great and they don’t seem to mind our two-year-old daughter getting up and walking around occasionally. They provide crayons highchair etc. They even have some toys/books. There is a bar area and the restaurant area. Really great place to bring the family as it is casual and inexpensive and usually not too busy. Yummy beers, great happy hour snacks and probably the best fries I’ve ever tasted(double fried oh yeah).

One thing we quickly realized about Portland is that it’s almost a good idea to get lost here. We took a wrong turn and BAM, we are walking up to this brewery. We were here on Sunday afternoon, so it was pretty quiet. Everyone seemed to know everyone, but they were super kind to us outsiders too– taking time to talk to us, gave us directions/bus information and recommendations on places to go, which we completely appreciated! My friend ordered the beer sampler, and the bartender informed us we could split it– she was NOT kidding. 112 or 3 oz samples, for $ 10… deal of the day! You can tell this is a beer bar, because when I ordered a captain and diet coke, the bartender didn’t even remember what it was! I sampled some of her 11, and liked them. I know she liked almost all of them as well. We ordered an app and a sandwich and split both things… the pepperoni twists were awesome bar food. They bread was light, and there was a good amount of pepperoni in it, and a marinara sauce tasted fresh/not canned. We also had a turkey/avocado/bacon sandwich with a spicy sauce on it. The bread was crusty and fresh. It hit the spot! It was kind of hard to leave, we were having so much fun! We had great service, but we were sitting at the bar, so I think that made the difference.

We strolled in on a Monday afternoon and of course, we had to have a beer. Lucky for us, Monday was ALLDAYHAPPYHOUR and we didn’t even realize until the owner, Lynn, told us. We took a seat at the bar and tried the War Elephant IPA. SOOOGOOOD. It was hoppy, bitter, and strong. and had some citrus notes to it. We enjoyed it so much that we got a stainless steel growler filled to take with us back to LA(but we drank it before leaving Portland lol). The artwork for the War Elephant IPA is also super dope. The service was great and Lynn was a great conversationalist. We enjoyed talking to her all afternoon and she was extremely charming and fun. She suggested some other breweries for us to visit and even gave us a Portland brewery pamphlet to help us on our BEERVANAJOURNEY. Columbia River was the start of a very drunk afternoon and we belligerently frolicked around Portland for the rest of the day. THANKYOULYNN! And if you’re an IPA aficionado, the War Elephant will not disappoint.

This Hollywood hidden place turned out to be more than I expected. After being on a hunt with my sister and brother in law to find a good Portland Brewed beer, we found the place! As being tourists, places aren’t always welcoming to «non locals», but this place was different. The lady who worked here went above and beyond any hostess/bartender that I’ve ever seen. She welconed us in and helped get us choose the right beer to take with us back to California. The customer service here was great! She let us try a sample of each beer and even gave us some beer coasters to take with us as little souvenirs. I’m lucky to have been able to run into this fun little spot in the hidden corners of Hollywood. I’m looking forward to stopping by here on my next visit to Oregon.

This place makes me apathetic. I don’t really feel like writing a review on the food. It’s okay I guess. The service has been acceptable or less. It’s never particularly busy and it feels like it should be on one of the restaurant rescue shows because they must be drowning in debt.
