I like to eat at local specialty restaurants when I travel-I find the best food at these places! Channel’s edge did not disappoint! Phenomenal home made clam chowder, killer sandwiches and friendly staff! Check them out-you won’t be disappointed!

Amazing view from the outside deck. Great place for Sunday brunch. Or a drink and just relaxing.

One of my favorite places! My boyfriend and I like to ride our bikes there and stop for lunch on the deck. They even have Gatorades for sale if we’ve had a tougher ride

What a gem! This is a place we will come often. Supporting local and by local I mean live in the area and they know the customers who come in. The omelette was great and atmosphere to match. Feeling pretty lucky to live just a short bike ride away!

New little treasure for us to return to – the owners were friendly and helpful with our questions about floating homes. The gallery /café /bar is funky and sweet with great atmosphere that reminded me of well tended cafes in Newport. But let’s get to the food: it’s served on thick paper plates and prepared in a tidy kitchen that’s visible from the a side dining area. My salad was just what I was hoping it would be – fresh and filled with tasty bits of craisins, cheese, and served with delicious, light herbal dressing. My husband’s grilled cheese sandwich featured a lively blend of three cheeses, along with a creamy clam chowder topped generously with crispy bacon and served with Lay’s vinegar chips. But the real draw here is the view, the owners, and the neighborhood vibe. As we sat on the channel facing deck, chatting with the owner and sipping our beer /wine, a neighbor pulled up to the dock in his kayak. He joined us on the deck and we visited for 20 – 30 minutes about his experiences in A floating home. When we left, the counter was full with people enjoying a late lunch or an early happy hour. I get the appeal – we will certainly be back.

We first found this place when looking for a home when we moved to Portland two years ago. Everyone was so nice and made us feel right at home. Friday night live music. Healthy salads, yummy sandwiches. A neighborhood gem. A friendly little coffeehouse/bar.

Hidden on Bridgeton Road, on the Portland side of the Columbia, this is a great place for Sunday breakfast, meeting friends for a beer, and just hanging out and meeting new people. I love the cinnamon french toast and super good coffee(help yourself to refills). You can watch the boats go by on the channel, or browse the shop for nautical-themed gifts, as well as work by local artists. The owners live in the neighborhood, and are always having fun events, including Tarot readings by «Madame Zelda,» live music by the likes of Ellen Whyte, wine tastings, and much more. I wouldn’t give away the secret of this neighborhood gathering-place, except for the fact that I want to support a great local business. As we say in the neighborhood, «Meet me at ‘The Edge’!»

This is a really wonderful little, secret neighborhood place on the river! Part coffeeshop, part wine bar, part gift store — with beer too. Simple menu, but fresh and tasty food. Summer brings out the BBQ, occasional live music, brunch, and warm, refreshing breezes, all with a relaxed vibe and nice views of the harbor down below. It’s totally enjoyable year-round, with heated inside porch and big, outdoor deck — both overlooking Hayden Bay. Occasional tarot card readings and wine tastings too. CUTE!
