Having been there twice before and having about the best Eggs Benedict ever, I was completely disappointed. I can almost say nothing good about this visit. We were seated quickly and that’s it. Service was slow. Two of three meals served first. I sent mine back because wasn’t as ordered. When it came back, still not right but gave up. Third meal they apparently forgot about. Came eventually. We each ate our meals separately. All were bad. Hollandaise was pasty, potatoes bland and greasy, coffee terrible. If I hadn’t been there before, I would never go back!

Outdoor seating is available. Typical American breakfast menu. Very close to river. Spanish Omlettes are amazing. My friends liked the French toast so much

French restaurants typically are a little pretentious and a lot of money. While an expensive one is maybe worth it on a special occasion, why not have the good food and save some money. Café Du Berry is a little French Bistro that delivers on the taste of some amazing dishes but with prices that are a pleasant surprise. If this bistro has a fault, it’s the very limited wine selection with almost no French wines at all. We finally settled on a Cline Zin which was about the most robust wine available for some red meat dishes. I indulged myself and ordered the Rack of Lamb with a wine reduction that was cooked to perfection with hints of rosemary and garlic and was accompanied by spears of still-crisp asparagus and Hollandaise sauce. Another member of our party ordered the Scallops; she is still talking about them! They were very large and, a surprise to us, were done completely without imparting any toughness. A Pepper Steak rounded out our party’s choices. Two things were standouts for me: The service from Josh(which was remarkable considering he was the only server on duty that Tuesday night) and the delicious food. Bottom line: Fix the wine selection and this place will be perfect!

I work near here and when I have the opportunity I love to stop for lunch. I always have the french toast. The meal comes with hash browns and fruit but I’ve taken to just ordering it al la carte. It’s just one piece of french toast but very filling. My husband orders the full meal and it’s plenty for him. The atmosphere is nothing fancy but the service is very friendly.

Great breakfast. Good coffee. EXCELLENT service. I’ve only been in a few times and the waiter already remembers my usual. Cant wait to go back.

Well I’ve never had the steak or anything besides the French toast and bacon, both are incredible. Best breakfast I’ve ever had!

Café Du Berry is one of the most exquisite restaurants in Portland! Today the Chef accomodated me with grilled salmon, safron rice and greens for breakfast! What restaurant does that?

I had the waffle and bacon, my brother had the French toast and sausage. It was all delicious but the French toast was amazing. Seriously, the best I’ve ever had. The service was friendly and quick enough. Everything was made from scratch so I would have expected to wait longer.

After being served a dish I did not order, when I received the crab Benedict special I ordered, it was awful. Little crab and questionionably fresh(since crab ensconced in some kind of carrot onion paste). Hashbrowns one inch of glue. I suspect earlier review about kitchen reusing potatoes is true, and maybe same for crab. Kitchen and wait staff personal conversation loud… no ambiance and understandably few customers in restaurant. Dining area bordered somewhere between neglect and dirty. Would definitely never return.

The servers were very welcoming and attentive, but unfortunately the brunch food was largely disappointing… Vegetable frittata was more just a bland scramble, and the baked eggs weren’t good either. In both dishes, the hash browns seemed like they were made with older, grainy potatoes; toast was cold. Coffee was good. Worst part was that the prices for a disappointing meal were about twice as high as posted on the web site.

My girlfriend and I came here for the first time for a date night and we had such a wonderful experience. We ordered the salmon with raspberry sauce and the new tour steak and both were excellent. The staff is a huge part of why we will be going back here. We felt like we left as friends.

I’m almost afraid to write about this place because it’s such a great little — I’m tempted to want it all to myself. It had been recommended by a friend and so glad it was… Quaint and super friendly place with a very limited menu but what they serve it truly fantastic — Had the french toast(so perfect, no syrup necessary!) All food is made form scratch and you can taste it too, from the hash browns to the crab omelet my wife had. This place is diamond in the rough that is Macadam Ave.

I love getting brunch here. The family who runs the restaurant is always super nice and sweet, and the food is always good. The waiter can be a bit hard to understand, but he’s really nice and always gets the job done. The french toast is a good choice, so are the eggs. The coffee is surprisingly great, I always love the coffee here! I’ve only had brunch, so I can’t rate lunch. The only negative is that the service can take a while, or it seems like they’ve forgotten your table. It’s never a huge problem though. I can’t recommend Café Du berry highly enough… I love it.

This is Café Don’t Berry. French? Unless French means raw then maybe. I had French toast and was told it was«the best in the west» unfortunately it wasn’t the best at all. The inside was raw! But don’t worry the lady cleaning up that got me so Thing else told me «we are a French restaurant so most things are cooked all the way». Ummmm. Bye… The place was cute but the tables, chairs etc are dated and cheap. The people who work there are nice but the food was a zero.

Cute French style café. Poor quality coffee. French style service. Meaning there is only one other person in the place, my coffee cup is empty and it’s taken 15 minutes to get a simple omelette. On the other hand once the omelette arrives, it’s cute and cooked baveuse, in genuine French style(a very slightly undercooked center that adds a luscious mouth feel to it) and maintaining its pristine soft yellow exterior without any of the leathery quality that afflicts most American style omelettes. That is rare and well appreciated. Less appreciated are the«hash browns”– left over potatoes recooked but suffering from that inimitable old potato flavor and despite the golden patina, lacking any sort of surface crispness whatsoever. The fruit garnish? Cute, but old fruit that looks like it was on a bender last night and still hungover from those previous exertions. As always, it’s the smallest details that add up to define our dining experiences, our work quality and our life overall. As for all of us, there is room for improvement. Not sure how to rate Café du Berry. The omelette is a 5, everything else is sorely wanting. A generous 3 stars for my single experience here.

Ugh. I left angry that our family of four wasted our hard earned money here. You used to hear wonderful things about this place, I can assure you either things have gone to pot, or they were wrong. We came on a Monday morning and were the only people there, the woman who greeted is was very nice. The real problem here was the food. My omelette was terrible(picture soggy scrambled eggs with a vegetable garnish), my «fruit side» was an 1⁄8th of a browned, dry banana that looked like it was cut 3 days prior and the jam dish she brought out for me was covered in dust and little fabric particles, again as though it was pre poured and left for dead and for the love of Pete, the hashbrowns — the only thing on the plate I thought would be edible, nope. They were mush, seemingly frozen hashbrowns, poorly cooked. You know how people take pictures of their food before they eat it, I should have taken a picture of my plate after I was done. They would have looked the same as I truly took three bites before I decided I would be making breakfast at home, I have never left a plate so full.

Yum! As the waiter said this place does have the best French toast in the West. The French toast was so good and is definitely a must try when coming here. This place is so homey and the waiter was very friendly and nice. We also got the salmon eggs benedict and it was delicious as well!!! The food, the atmosphere make this place such a good place for brunch!

I walk in with Starbucks and receive a greeting«hey, you didn’t bring any for grandma?» I instantly felt at home and that is the overall vibe you get from this adorable mom and pop restaurant. It’s small and intimate with a HUGE impression on your taste buds. I originally wanted to order the eggs Benedict but my waitress insisted on trying the scallops with mushrooms omelette saying«take one bite and if you don’t like it I’ll change the order at no cost». It sounded like a great deal so I accepted and boy was I pleased to discover the most original and amazing breakfast combo EVER!!! The salmon eggs Benedict you see across from my plate was also a slam dunk! A+ across the board… will definitely return before leaving town.

Super duper cute little hole-in-the-wall in John’s landing. Pretty packed for breakfast, but the wonderful owner still found a spot for us outside(with our dog). Double bonus!!! The service was fantastic, but the food was just a-okay. Get the French Toast at least(it’s kind of what they’re known for). It seemed a little dirty(not that that’s a deal-breaker; if the food is good I’ll still go). Overall I don’t think I’d willingly choose to go here again for breakfast, but if my friends went, I’d join them.

Drek! I had high hopes for this place. It always seemed busy for brunch and it looked so cute hidden away among the trees with their big outdoor patio. But then I realized why they had that outdoor patio was because the inside is so old and deteriorating. Sad sign number one. Then came the awkward service where the hostess didn’t really notice my friend and I were waiting until we asked her where we should sit, then she took forever to come take our order, and then she rushed us when actually giving it to her. Good for her though, she did offer coffee right off the bat like she read my mind. I needed it and it was adequate. My friend mentioned that she couldn’t eat bread and perhaps if you wanted to be that picky about it we could’ve made it more clear that she had a flour allergy specifically but when ordering a spinach omelette one did not think there should be flour in it. One would think a spinach omelette would consist of fresh raw spinach then sautéed inside of eggs. Not expecting creamed spinach from a can with some type of flour-y cream drizzled on top of scrambled eggs. The hashbrowns were good, yet the side of fruit was really just four strawberries cut in half so that combined with your weirdo«spinach» omelette does not constitute $ 12, no thank you. So close to giving it a pity two stars rating but I know that I will never return so I can’t even do that, sorry just one star.
