I’m not quite sure why this place is four stars. The bagels are not even comparable to any bagel shop in LA or NY. Dry, not fully toasted. Ladies working the shop were nice and my latte was mediocre. Average if not below average is what I would say

Like a lot of other Portlanders, I was a huge Kettlemans fan and when they sold out it was a sad day. Thank God Bowerys came and saved the Portland bagel scene! Absolutely delish boiled bagels — I’m obsessed with the jalapeño sea salt with their house made veggie smear. YUMMMMMM.

We don’t go go to the shop on Broadway, but we buy the Bowery bagels all the time at New Seasons. My elderly mother and I eat brunches at home most Saturdays in the mornings. We needed some truly great bagels. So many are either just bread that is doughnut shaped or taste OK bu tend to be too heavy. Bowery bagels are just right. They are the real thing from my mother’s childhood in a Jewish neighborhood in Cleveland, Ohio. They are slightly nutty tasting, the texture is right, and they do not soak up the cream cheese when toasted. The cream cheese smears on the way it should. The plain and the salt are good just the way they are and do not need«everything». I wish they had just«onion» because that is my favorite in New York. I wish they had tomato alone and sesame seeds alone. I wish they had whole wheat that tasted as good as the others! However, what we get are so great. Bowery bagels are not more expensive than other brands, including one called«Taste Buds», which we like but which tend to be too dense and heavy. A note on home brunches: Sometimes we have an egg; smoked salmon, strawberry jam, honey, chicken sausages, a piece of herring, cucumber slices, sliced tomato, another type of gourmet cheese, turkey bacon, or a combination of these and other goodies. The goodies are not really needed, though. A good bagel and cream cheese and fresh brewed high quality coffee(which we do not drink other times for health reasons) are all we really need for a great brunch! We eat and we feel like royalty! Our only regret is that our appetites are not big enough to eat several bagels at one meal. We sigh and comment we can’t wait until NEXT Saturday morning!

First stop on my annual Portland bagel tour. I do this annually to make sure I’m not missing something good, but never have terribly high hopes for bagels in Portland, given the climate just isn’t right for them. The bagels here were solid, but they don’t offer tomatoes or onions(sacrilege to any lox-lovin’ jew such as myself) and they only package things to-go sandwich-style, so if you want to eat it there and are DIY with your bagels, you gotta deconstruct theirs to reconstruct in the way that you like. Be sure to ask for cream cheese on the side. Lastly, there are only a few seats available at a counter. The stools are pretty uncomfortable. I guess they don’t want people hanging out. Not my new addiction, but good enough when you have a jones.

A solid breakfast place. My friends and I stopped by here during our vacation to Portland, and I’m glad we made this one a stop! The bagel was nice and chewy(I got a salt and pepper bagel) and I selected the Oliver Lent breakfast sandwich. There wasn’t as much filling as I might have liked, but in retrospect that was probably fine — there’s only so much I can eat in a mouthful! Overall I really liked the place. Wish I could have tasted more of the bagel options here!

First visit. counter service was less than impressive. Workers too busy checking his phone. I had to ask for my coffee, ask for my water, etc. Was treated as if I should know where to grab my items from… first impressions … Got a Giaridana(sp). On a sea salt bagel, which tasted amazing. The bagel itself was awesome. The deli meats in the sandwich were also amazing. By the pickled veggies, an acquired taste, and a little funky for me. The bagel itself was so good I wish I had just ordered that and a little schmeer instead. The 3 stars is mostly reflective of the service, or lack there of. I was the only customer. No excuse to not make me feel special.

Best bagels in Portland. I have had fresh bagels from all requisite areas and have full confidence in this statement. They’re also very clean, very professional, very friendly. I picked up a call-in for a firm meeting at 7am and it was waiting for me at 7:08am. And WHAT. THANKYOU!

These bagels are off the hook! I loved the salt and jalapeño with jalapeño schmere! Everything bagel has a black pepper spice that is awesome! Great people watching as a bonus with the downtown Portland Sunday morning scene.

I originally left a 2 start review due to poor customer service. Since then, their owner Michael has contacted me to rectify the situation and I wanted to commend him on his efforts. I changed the rating because he didn’t let the complaint go unnoticed, and even sent our Portland office breakfast, which they all enjoyed. Most of all because he identified a discrepancy in their weekend order process, and are taking steps to fix it for future customers. If I’m ever in Portland, I will definitely check the place out.

I asked for a blueberry bagel with cream cheese on the side, toasted. I got a cold, un-toasted, inedible bagel with the cream cheese already on it. Attention to detail is null. Update: Thank you for addressing my concerns. I commend showing care for customers’ feedback. And, I appreciate the offer to re-make my order, but I will not be returning to your business.

Some of the best bagels in pdx. Go simple and just get a plain bagel with cream cheese. It’s exactly as good as you would expect.

Got a garlic & herb toasted bagel with the BOM! cream cheese and a delicious iced Americano! Very friendly staff. Quick quick service. BOM is Bacon, Onions, and Mushrooms! Only about 10 tall stools at the storefront window to sit, no tables. Meant for quick bagel and coffee mornings.

Good chew on the sesame bagel I ordered. However, what impressed me was the kimchi schmear. Just the right amount of fermented flavor mixed with cream cheese made for a really great complement to the bagel. Love that the bagel sandwiches are named after historic Portland figures. Nice touch.

Since i was a few blocks away I had a NY bagel in PDX. I tried the Everything bagel with the roasted veggies schmear although the schmear w/capers was also yum. The bagels were a good size, toasted perfect and schmeared with a heap of roasted veggie cream cheese. Took it to go and it was filling. Think I’ll try another bagel w/the Blueberry Schmear since the wasn’t available. Nice little shop to pick up a quick bagel and drink to go.

Vegan savory cashew based cream cheese?! Yes! Panczkis on Fat Tuesday?! Vegan?! Four flavors?! Order ahead folks. I’m ordering a dozen next year because this year’s were sooooooo good. I bought several for myself and my coworkers. I arrived when Bowery opened(7 am) and there was a line! Additionally i had to wait 20 minutes to order mine since I didn’t order ahead. Bagels: too many options and they’re all super tasty. Just go here and get that bagel. They also have sandwiches but I haven’t had any. Probably because most have meat, no biggie though. I’m totally satisfied with having a bagel and cream cheese.

The bagels are pretty good here. Not so great that I’d go out of my way too often for them. But they are, indeed, east coast, jewish bagels with vegan options. I am always so excited when I find pumpernickel bagels. And I found them here. I was a little dissapointed I didn’t like them more(and prefer those of Kenny & Zukes). I had an herbed cream cheese on my bagel which was just okay. I also had a vegan bagel here that I liked better than the pump one. They are pricy(the usual bagel robbery) and I ended up waiting an extra 5 minutes to pay for my bagel because the server was taking up the only calculating option with a big order. Idea — buy a calculater so I don’t have to wait for your silly little«register/tablet». But if you seek the east coast style and/or some vegan options… this place will probably do just fine.

Came here for breakfast. I got a sea salt bagel with a smoked salmon schmear! Pretty good! I think the whole place is a little over priced, but it’s a good bagel shop. I would recommend it to tourists because it has that Portland Hipster feel, in my opinion. Will be back!

I had one olé single bagel and that’s all I need to know. I had the Sea Salt bagel with egg & bacon(the Dan Burnside sans cheese) and wow. Pefect. Not the biggest bagel but it was perfection! Chewy with a great flavor topped by thick bacon and well-seasoned egg. Ugh, I want another one right now. There was a ton of schmears listed so I will definitely need to go back to try ‘em, granted I can resist the Dan Burnside! It also has a tiny market with Jacobsen salt, and PINKELTONSPOPCORNWHICHISAMAZINGDONOTTRYITBECAUSEYOUWILLNEVERNOTWANTIT. Phew. It’s a smallish place with limited seating to expect to take it to go.

This little bagel shop is a great morning stop. The shop: small but big enough to form a line to order then wait for your order. They have some shelves with local treats, including some popcorn I have been looking for. Menu is on screens with a ticker at the bottom with seasonal items, and some pretty unusual schmears. There is also a case with the different bagels to choose what looks best. The bagel: crunchy outside, soft chewy inside, the way a bagel should be. Smaller than what you would see at other shops but sturdy enough to hold the flavor and even some eggs and sausage. Sea salt was a great surprise, sometimes it can be a total fail, but it was balanced salty. Plenty of bagel options and even more schmear options. Think this place might be in the team breakfast rotation.

After dropping off our car at the local Enterprise, my bestie and I wanted to find a place to grab breakfast before heading to Union Station to catch an Amtrak to Seattle. We discovered this place on Unilocal and got to the location around 8AM and boy, it was already pack! I notice the customers there were traveling too since they all had luggage with them. It is very close to Union Station, about 5 minutes walk, so it is convenient for you to stop by and pick up breakfast here. I decided on getting the everything bagel with the schmear(Bacon, Onion, and Mushroom) and ohh man! It was delicious! It was very flavorful and had a similar taste to lox spread. I also got the chai tea latte and you can change the flavor to your liking, either spicier or sweeter. I asked for it to be a balance of the two and it was yummy! Bonus star for paper free receipts! The store has about 8 – 10 stools with window seating for you to enjoy your bagels and people watch. If I live around here, I would definitely be a regular to grab my breakfast and try all the other types of bagel and schmears. $ 6.30 for a solid breakfast is a 5 star in my book!
