Good curry. Slightly to expensive for what you get. The staff and warm and welcoming, always fast service. Try the mango lassi as a calorific yogurt drink treat.

The food is really good. The tandoori chicken is my personal favorite, and it is usually all I get.

Ordered the peanut chicken and it was delicious. The couscous has way too much cilantro and the naan is very dry and hardened like it has been been sitting out for a while. One of the better choices at the food court, the sauces are great but nothing special.

Really enjoyed this gem of a fast food outlet. Tandori chicken was awesome, as was the curry. You get a meal that would sell for 3x as much in a sit-down full featured restaurant. No brainer to try this out if you’re in the area. While not restaurant specific, the food court seating area is spacious and relaxing as well so you really can enjoy your meal.

We go to the mall just to get this Indian food. It is seriously tasty, and the customer service is great. They’ll let you try everything, but the problem is, then you’ll want to eat everything. Anyways, check it out if you’re at the mall.

Change of owners recently and it’s obvious by how small the portions are now. They used to be much better. Overall the food is still good and will continue to eat here.

Bombay Express in the food court at Washington Square is the only Indian fast food place I can think of. So, when I want fast and cheap tandoori chicken and some tasty curry, that’s my only option.. .and it’s a pretty good option. My quick dinner in the mall tonight was very satisfying, and it was only $ 6.95. My tandoori chicken was tender and moist. Saffron rice covered with curry sauce that had just the right amount of spiciness(for me) and mixed vegetables in masala sauce were my two side dishes. Everything always tastes good there, which is why I’ve gone there several times. My only complaint is the inconsistency in portion sizes from visit to visit. The amount of food you get does vary a LOT depending on the person working the counter and dishing it up. I’ve gotten huge portions there sometimes, and small ones other times. For best results, I smile a lot and am really friendly to the person at the counter.(I guess that worked tonight because my plate was really loaded.)

Kind of new to India food but really love the taste of yellow curry. Had the chicken masala rice bowl and it was very flavorful! I added some Indian bread to the order to dip into the rice bowl. This bread was not good, I’ve had a lot better at other Indian establishments.

I literally drove 20 minutes to the mall JUST for this place. We ordered quite a bit of food and they always hook it up with extra free food. DELICIOUS! You can sample anything before you decide. I love this place.

So good! Great service highly recommend! The staff was very friendly and they had me sample a bunch of different things. Som things twice! The food was delicious, it was more like american Indian which I like since I’m American and have no taste buds. I would recommend it!

Two words on why they get the one star. Food Poisoning. They must leave their chicken out a long time. Also the service is horrible. I typically don’t care but this is on another level of bad.

The butter chicken and stuffed parata are my go-to’s! Everything that I have tried here has been so light yet packed with flavor! For mall food I’m always impressed! Customer service is hit and miss… But again it’s mall food! I will be back!

My boyfriend and l decided to eat here after some shopping. The guy who was there was great and extremely helpful. It was my first time trying Indian food so I had no idea what to expect. He let us sample almost everything there. Lol. All the samples we tried were tasty. The spinach and chicken was my favorite and the potato filled pastry thing… I forgot what they’re called were delicious. We definitely will come back.

I love their food! The only reason they aren’t getting five stars is because of their customer service. Although they aren’t mean, they’re slow and don’t seem to care very much. Their food — I love their rice bowls, its the perfect lunch. Their combo plates don’t appeal as much, their side dishes are cold and relatively meh. The vegetarian samosas are unbelievable. They take a few minutes(they fry them when you order) but are worth the wait.

I just ate here and was very unimpressed. They use a weird yellow rice that tastes like it’s from uncle ben’s. The naan is not great, definitely store bought. The masala was very underwhelming. The best item was the chicken vindaloo but even that was mediocre at best. Stay away!

For mall food this place is pretty darn good. I love Indian food and everything at Bombay Express that I have tasted has been decent. FAVES: Chicken & Spinich, Peanut Chicken OK: Tandoori Chicken(it was a bit on the dry side) My recommendation is to get the 2 item combo and try out some different choices. It’s less than $ 7 and more than enough food. You get to choose 2 veggie sides… my go-to is always the cabbage slaw and potato salad. Their Naan bread is just so-so. Staff is pretty friendly but sometimes hard to understand. Overall good meal if you find yourself at WA Square.

I wish if there was a rating less that one star. While browsing through some of the shops at Washington square mall, i and my friend had a thought of trying at Bombay express. I ordered a chicken biryani which is a famous recipe down in India. While i got the order it seemed to me like chicken mixed with rice and water. So when i complained about the dish, some guy over there said that he cook’s the dish in that way and all american’s are eating it from the past 10 yrs. He said that if i don’t like i can throw that in the garbage. That asshole didn’t even have the courtesy to ask for another dish or give a refund. The worst experience in Portland. Had i waited for another 10 more mile’s i would have gone to swagat, beaverton.

I am a fan of Indian food. I know it scares the life out of my sister, she is one of those people if she can’t identify the meat, she isn’t eating it. However, the flavor of this fast food Indian is pretty good. I love the chicken and spinach over rice. The tandoori is a good choice, as well. They cook the naan bread daily and we’ve been lucky enough to see it coming straight out of the oven, get cut and put on our tray. My son ordered an item, I can’t remember the name and it was new for him, but it was on display. It was naan like bread stuffed with a spicy potato mixture. Not the mimosa. It takes about 4 minutes to cook, but we stood there and watched him make it while we waited. This was more comforting than watching a basket of frozen fries being dropped. The price is reasonable and the salads are always fresh. I am not a fan of food court food, but will actually drive out to Washington Square just for this lunch.
