Boardwalk Fresh Burgers and Fries

Ehhh, not good. They charge $ 6 – 8 for a burger, plus extra for fries and a drink. Then after paying $ 12 for a meal, you realize that they use the cheapest ingredients possible. I’m talking like cheese they would use in an elementary school cafeteria.
The staff walked around like zombies, it creeped me out. When we went up to order, the cashier just stared at us. Super awkward. No wonder this place is always empty.

We like the music and the look of the place. The location is great for us as we do a lot of our shopping at Janzen Beach. We ordered philly’s and they were excellent, just the right portion. The food took a bit too long, they we not busy enough for that to be a reason. The fries were nothing to be spoken of especially considering the name of the place. Thought we paid a bit too much too…

Not impressed. I stopped in here due to lack of options and a ferocious hunger. It wasn’t terribly busy for a Saturday afternoon. I placed my order and took a seat. My order hadn’t been called after waiting 25 minutes, so I walked up to the counter to figure out the hold up. Turns out they «forgot» to make my burger. Oh, super. I’m starving, there are 6 people total in this whole restaurant, and now I have to wait however much longer to get my food. It finally comes out, and I again take my seat to devour my burger. One bite in and the whole thing falls apart. The bun was dry as dust, the lettuce was ten thousand times the size of the bun, the avocado slices were different sizes, but the meat had decent flavor. I was thoroughly disappointed with the experience and won’t be returning.

I decided to try Boardwalk on a lunch break last week. Unfortunately, this was a bad choice on my part.
Now, I understand that things may get busy during the lunch rush. However… a single person working the counter and two elderly ladies working the kitchen is just bad logistics. By the time I was fed up with waiting, I was also committed to seeing this choice through or starve for the rest of the day.
I was hoping that the food would be worth the wait. It wasn’t.
The burger just didn’t do it for me. The meat was dry and lacked flavor/​seasoning and the toppings were almost an afterthought. The fries were ok, but nowhere near «#1».
Overall a very frustrating and disappointing experience.

I had a Bacon Bleu Burger and fries. Fries definitely are the best part of a Boardwalk lunch. Fresh, hot, crispy exterior and fluffy interior. What’s not to love?
I do appreciate a toasted bun! Better than run of the mill fast food.

This is pretty much what i would expect from an above fast food place. Just a quick, but a little better than fast food place.
Got the fish and chips and it was good. The fries were okay.
Good service, fast today.
I wish they would find a way to deep fry fish, but make it not so greasy.

No… Just No…
I am sitting at my desk attempting to eat hand breaded cod fillets… only problem being, I’m consuming un — breaded deep fried cod flavored rubber. I’m not sure if the cook tossed the fillets into the fry basket without breading, or if he tossed them in hard enough for the breading to slough off. Either way, it simply isn’t there. It’s a real pity, as I’ve been craving fish and chips for weeks, and was hoping I’d finally found somewhere close by to take care of my «must have fish and chips NOW» desires. Not so… the search continues.
As for the fries… meh. limp, oily, and pretty darn flavorless. America’s #1 Fries? Not in my book. And… like others before me, even though I wasn’t eating in the restaurant, I noted many tables needed a good wipe down.
I wish I’d read the Unilocal reviews prior to spending my money there… obviously the franchise owner’s training with the staff is not working.
I shan’t be back.

Not that great. Certainly don’t understand how they have «America’s #1 Fries Since 1981», I don’t taste it. The place is kinda expensive for what you get.
The burger was drenched in mayo and the grilled mushrooms & onions were cold. I doubt that I will be returning to this business.

Very disappointing experience. Restaurant had plenty of empty tables but my son and I couldn’t find one that was clean to sit at. I told the guy at the register but he rudely responded that he’d get to it when he had time. I was regretting having already paid and would’ve left at that point if I hadn’t. Burger was oozing mayo and so greasy. Couldn’t finish it. 2 stars for milkshake tasting good. The entire time I was there no one cleaned the tables. Gross. Wouldn’t go back

I stopped in here and had a fish sammy and fries (lightly salted, please). The fries were all right but my sammy was just too darn greasy. Over time, I have been backing away from salty and fried things. I“m willing to take into account that I might be more sensitive to those things than I once was. Having said that, my sammy packed quite a wallop and I could not finish it. I could actually taste the oil. I hope they do make an effort to improve things for future customers but I won’t be back.

Why in god’s name did I not look on Unilocal BEFORE I wasted my $ 10. Burger was thin and flavorless, iced tea machine was messed up so my tea tasted like brown water, yum. To top it off my order literally took 10 minutes with no other orders before me. I took three bites of my burger before I tossed it, walked two doors down to jimmy johns and walked away with a sandwich. Never again.

My husband and I ate here last year when it first opened abd it was pretty good.. Well we decided to go back this year and take my dad, and it wad not the same!!!
I was so disappointed and very embarrassed I took ny dad here.. The fries tasted like they had been sitting all day and they were cold. They were also REALLY GREASY! THE burgers were dry and flavorless.. I’ll never be back. I’LL DRIVE FAR TO HAVE AN AWESOME BURGER FROM FIVE GUYS BURGER AND FRIES!

I tried this place first a few months ago. The food was really good, service only so-​so… mostly twenty something kids running the place that don’t really understand customer service. The tables were mostly dirty as well. They weren’t that busy, so honestly no reason for this other than lazy workers. Also a bit pricey– burger price is on par but additional $ 3 for fries and $ 2 for soda, so $ 11 – 13 for a meal depending on what you ordered.
Despite the questionable service, I decided to go again with my girl friend. We waited more than 30 min for food. And one of the burgers had no toppings on it– just patty and lettuce. We did not order it that way. But once again, food esp fries are really good, $ 25 for 2 turkey burgers, fries and sodas was a bit steep considering slow service and once again almost all dirty tables.
I went again today for the last time. The wait to order was more than 10 min, with only one person in line in front of me. I look around, there are many disgruntled people waiting for food. Part of the problem– only one very frazzled looking kid working kitchen and one other guy working the register. If you don’t have people to properly staff your restaurant, you are better off to close for the day! I had time to wait, so decided to just stick it out since food has always been good. 30 min later, I finally get my food. Had to ask twice for the ranch I ordered and waited an additional 5 min for that. I saw another woman have a similar wait just to get dipping sauce– she looked pissed too. I take my food to go and what a disappointment… Burger way overcooked– practically jerky. The fries were undercooked and cold– I was so bummed. Needless to say, I won’t be back. This place could be good, instead they probably won’t last another 6 months.

HORRIBLE first impression! I wish I could give zero stars!
I was interested in trying out this establishment, they’ve been sending me coupons in the mail. Finally I decided to take my family and try their famous fish and chips. Upon entering I was greeted with a sake of potatoes (not sure why they’re in the walk way?). The music was fantastic, playing some classic hits. We went up to the register, literally stood their for 10 mins (perhaps longer). Finally one of the workers in the back peeks his head around and says «We’ll be right with you.»
Time is passing and we continue to stand there, dumbfounded. We’ve already read over the menu multiple times, knowing what we wanted. Finally a worker shows up, and says «I’m off the clock» as he stands by the register. What? A few seconds later he says, «Just kidding.» Really?
All I could think of was FINALLY someone is here to help us. We order 2 orders of the fish and chips. He calls out the order. An older gentleman in the back says «We’re out, only 1 fish.» At this point I was completely over it. We stood there waiting, with no acknowledgement for over 10 minutes. Not only that, we had horrible customer service and they were out of their fish and chips, which they clearly advertise on their COUPONS and SIGN outside their door.
The guy just stared at us. There was no apologies, nothing. We decided to walk out and made our way next door to Jimmy Johns where we were immediately greeted with a smile.
In summary, I can’t believe I wasted my time here. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. Completely disappointed.

I wish there was a zero stars I could choose. Worst customer service EVER. he messed my order up (chicken tenders) and refunded the customer in front of me for messing her order up but not me. Then they were out of napkins totally. Then after waiting for 40 min to get freaking chicken. Really? I am sitting amongst angry customer. This place could be great but terrible employees.

Had a sensational batch of fries and a vanilla shake. One of my favorite combos. Some have put a mediocre review on this place, but you have to take into consideration they are new, and finding there groove with service. Plus if you know what it takes to make a true shake, you won’t have expectation for it to be done i a minute. It take a little time to make fresh food… I have waited twenty minute for 5 guys too.
Try me out, cut em a break and take your time enjoying.

The staff was short-​handed, but they were working their butts off to get the orders out.
The brioche bun was very good. I had the bourbon burger which was good, but short on the bourbon sauce. Good grilled onions in it, though!
The fries are pretty good. A lot better than most other «premium» burger chains’.

Don’t get the corn dog. 3.39 for just a dog. This place is expensive for the quality of food they provide. The service is lacking as well.

My hamburger was wrong and the staff was rude. they even said it says on the slip that it has lettuce. Well I didn’t order like that… he was like I guess I’ll go take off the lettuce for you. First bite the meat was cold, looks under cooked or cooked with a microwave. I had to eat it because I was 1. starving and 2. It cost a lot! No flavor, dry, boring and crappy staff gets this a one star. I wish you could give zero stars for places like this. I will never be back. I wish pdx had a smash burger.

Nothing really special about this place and the menu was a lot more limited than I expected. I really just went because I was in the mood for a shake and fries, but I was curious about what sort of vegetarian options they have. When I inquired about the veggie burger, the guy working didn’t even know they had veggie burgers. They only have 1 option and it’s a spicy veggie burger so that sort of took that option out of the equation for me.
They have a few salads but they all sounded so not worth it and the shake was just fairly ordinary for me. They did just open and they do have more than the average amount of desserts for a place like this, so next time I’m in the area and feel so inclined I may just try this place again.
