Great little shop, awesome rare and vintage stuff! The staff really know their stuff…

The girl who claims to be the shop’s manager just sits in front of the computer all day and has zero PR skills. I’m not sure why is even employed. She has no clue how to deal with customers. The prices are ridiculously out of whack as well. Shop somewhere else!

I have to say, this was definitely on my top 5 merchandise shops to visit in Portland, since I consider myself a pretty big nerd/​geek, but I was sorely disappointed by the quantity and quality of the vintage toys and the outrageous costs. This store was located right adjacent to Powell’s Bookstore and I was hoping to see some Transformer toys, older Marvel action figures, maybe some Japanese collectibles, but there was a predominant He-​Man collection, some star-​wars toys, a few lunchboxes and posters. Maybe because I didn’t have as much connection with the displayed action figures, but I was really unimpressed and found myself slouching down and leaving this store without finding anything to buy for myself or my brother. Sad.

Dime A dozen figures and other vintage items at this place, nothing special here. Everything is WAY OVER PRICED. If you’re in walking distance maybe take a peek, otherwise don’t waste your gas. No hidden treasures here.

The store sure has lots of interesting stuff to look at but the prices are skyhigh! it is more like a museum for toys rather than a store. the prices make it seem that the owners are not motivated to sell anything. Unless you got deep — very deep wallets or just want to browse, this place is a pass.

It’s a great collection of 80s-​90s toys. The prices are outrageous and the employees are extremely rude. The store is tiny and hard to walk through.
It’s more of a nostalgia childhood museum then a store.

what a cool, little store! if you grew up before the 90s, you’ll surely have a flood of memories coming back when you see all the various toys… thundercats, peanuts, gremlins, pac-​man, he-​man, muppets, smurfs, beetlejuice, star wars, star trek, bunches of others i don’t remember the names of… the location is tiny and the amount of toys on each shelf is somewhat mind blowing. but if you’re looking for some nostalgia or that one toy you had when you were little, i would certainly start my search here. i overheard a worker tell another customer that they will ship items as well.

What an amazing store! They had so many toys my brother and I use to have when we were kids. Castle Grayskull in the box, anyone? If you love movies, toys, memorabilia, you need to check out this spot. I had to get myself out of there or else I would have walked out broke.

Yeah, the owner is a real jerk. Not sure how these places stay in business. I walked in, my son and I were talked down to, and I walked out. I would never go back. I can’t believe how people think they can behave in society.

Here’s a perfect way NOT to run a business.
1. Have a GIANT selection of all the best of pop-culture’s coolest toys and collectibles. We’re talking: Star Wars, he man, Star Trek, Micronauts, G.I. Joe, fucking planet of the apes!!! Everything!
2. (Secretly) Don’t REALLY wanna part with any of this bountiful load of nerd-​booty. Your parents helped you start this treasured collection, why should you have to sell it to every yokel who strolls by on vacation? How were you to know that they have a nice (much smaller) collection themselves, and we’re just trying to nerd out with ya…
3. Be a total dick to anyone sincerely interested in your little fraggle rock trash heap, so they leave without any of your precious.

The clerks were the RUDEST I have ever encountered. When I entered with my coffee cup, I intended on standing at the doorway while my daughters explored the store. He demanded I stop drinking, and put the cup on the counter. I said I’d just wait here at the door and not go in, and he insisted I stop drinking and put it on the counter. I said ‘come on kids, let’s go shop somewhere friendlier.’ As my girls and I left the store he followed us out, and pointed out that NO FOOD OR DRINK is allowed in the store. Then he called me a dick. In front of my children. Lucky for him my kids were with me or it would have ended… differently.
Don’t shop here, they’re rude, overpriced, and eBay will soon put them out of business anyway.

Wow — don’t let me wander in here flush with a recent paycheck. I swung by while in town and was floored by the variety, quality, and quantity of sheer tangible nostalgia. The two folks behind the counter were both knowledgeable and friendly. I’d definitely return and buy a few more niceties.

Amazing posters! Toys you once thought lost, found at last! Incredible comics you’ve forgotten about! And hostile assholes!
I fell in love with the place the moment I walked in. Pity the owner and employees are shitty assholes.
I was told «you can look just fine with your eyes, not with your hands» when I asked to see a rare board game on a high shelf.
When they’re not saying something rude, they’re not saying anything at all. Not even a «hello» when you talk into the door.
I kept going a few times despite the initial poor experience. I’ve since moved and often think about the stuff I wanted to buy there and didn’t because I was too proud to give it up to the smarmy asswipes behind the counter.
Good thing there’s eBay.

I love hitting this place when I’m in Portland! It’s like going back in time! One of the biggest collections of vintage classic toys I have ever seen! Every toy you can remember growing up, they got some part of it — weather it was the ‘90s, ‘80s, ‘70s, even ‘60s and earlier — all jammed in that tiny place. Huge collections of Star Wars, G.I. Joe, smurfs, disney, california raisons, buck rogers, star trek, battlestar galactica, my little pony, rainbow brite, transformers, voltron, he-​man /​she-​ra, strawberry shortcake, et, thundercats, gremlins, alf, fat albert, dungeons & dragons, dune, records, comics, garbage pail kids…

I love Billy Galaxy! From the second I walk in the door I am reminded of the cool toys I had as a child. I see Star Wars figures I had, G.I. Joe figures I had, Comics I had, and I wish I still had them because they are worth bucks now! Even the original movie posters I used to get for free from my small town video store and hang on my wall as a child can be found here. My old lunch boxes are here. I wish they would just give me all of my toys back! For a flashback to the 80’s this is the place. It’s like a museum in there.

Super overpriced, and the staff is just a failure. When I was in the store, I found lower prices on my phone online for some stuff I was interested in — and they wouldn’t even hear me out. Don’t even try selling your stuff here, you’ll get so lowballed it’s insulting. Half a star if I could.

Tiny tiny store, but its packed full of goodies. Tons of classic toys, so many of them really brought me back to some childhood moments.
Many of the toys I had or still have somewhere in storage. Many of the toys were on my Santa list but that fat bastard never delivered.
Some of the prices are high, but many of the toys have some value to them to so it’s understandable. Whether you’re looking to buy some old, lost, and/​or classic toys, or just wanting to look… Billy Galaxy is a great stop.

The primary reason for the trip other, than seeing a concert, was to buy back some of my childhood. I also wanted to buy stuff that my friends had but don’t have any more. Now I have them! To quote Jessie from Breaking Bad…“who had it now bitches.”
The small is very small and narrow, however, there’s a lot to look at. You will find yourself saying on more than one occasion, «OMG I remember those, I used to have those.»
The stuff in here is expensive, however, at fair market value. If you buy in person rather than the Ebay store it is cheaper.
The people who mostly come here are those who have no children and can buy this stuff for themselves. In fact customers celebrate with each other the financial freedom of not having kids so that rare toys can be bought for themselves.
The customer service was awesome. He was good about playing a trick on my best friend so that I could buy something that he wanted for Christmas right under his nose. I could tell that he really enjoys his job and his shop.
I bought 2 mint in box vintage clean 80’s Care Bear plush toy, a GI Joe and 3 Transformers. My best friend bought 4 Transformers and a few GI Joe’s. Combined we spent $ 260.
My only issue is the hours of operation. My best friend and I came straight from the Bolt bus from Canada so we had a few suitcases in hand, no logistic way of getting from point A to B before the store closed on the only day that we could come by and shop. He was nice enough to allow us in after some negotiation over our luggage made sure that he knew that it would be worth his while $$$ wise by helping us out.
Best toy shopping experience thus far.

It’s hard to put into words the overwhelming feeling of nostalgia that floods your senses when you walk through the doors of Billy Galaxy. My BF and I are 80’s toys fanatics and collectors and this place is our Garden of Eden! They’ve got it ALL! Toys from cartoons long-​forgotten still thrive here in splendor! I found an abundance of my favorites: Strawberry Shortcake, Rainbow Brite, The Wuzzles, My Little Pony, Jem and many more! My BF gawked at the 80’s G.I. Joe collection, Visionaries, He-​man, Thundercats, and so much more. As avid collectors, we’d be tempted to just go crazy here being that all that we’ve searched for were housed right here in this tiny little space. But we try not to be too impulsive and look closely at the prices. Yes, they are kind of high, and yes, we’d find them cheaper on eBay. We did come away with items that we knew we couldn’t find easily elsewhere and we couldn’t be happier.
Just being here was an experience in itself. We felt like kids again! We literally just hung out here for well over an hour. That’s a LONG time to spend in such a little shop, but it was well worth it. It was more like a museum experience for us. Lots of Wow’s, Oooo’s, Aaaah’s and Oh My God’s (squealed in wonder, well Me anyway). The staff here doesn’t bother you unless you have a question and didn’t mind that we circled the place endlessly for so long. Just had to take it all in.
We’ll definitely be back. If you’re a child of the 80’s, you’ll leave here hopping and skipping with a craving for cereal with milk and Saturday morning cartoons.
