OK… I admit it. I’m a huge Gin snob. Most other local area liquor stores will expound on the virtues of Bombay sapphire or Tangeray… Kinda boring, standard issue gins. Daniel and the staff at Barnes Rd. Liquor store really know their stuff. I’ve had several amazing recommendations from the staff there… not only in premium Gins, but Rye whiskey, bourbons and tequilas as well. They have a real good knowledge of their stock and have turned me on to some brands I might not have tried, without their recommendations. Good customer service, if you’re not in a huge hurry to buy a gallon of crappy Vodka and run out the door. You can do that in any number of liquor stores in the area. But if you want some recipe ideas, recommendations, and a little bit of a learning experience about alcohol and spirits, this is your place. They also have a wonderful array of «hostess gifts»… Cute cocktail napkins, dishtowels, great barware, cocktail shakers etc. If you like drinking good-quality liquor and the cocktail revolution that’s happening in Portland Oregon, you’ll love this place.

Extremely rude staff, was looking for something and asked for it, before I could finish what I was asking for one of the guys snapped at me saying they didn’t. In a joking tone I replied that they should have it and he responded well only you would be the only one buying it from 250 customers. Put my purchase down and walked out. There was no need to be rude and he went right into talking to another employee! And we were at the cash register ! No other customers were in the store either. Thanks for making it clear, you will never get my business.

This place is very close to me so it’s usually where I go for my liquor. The staff has always been very helpful. They even let me bring my dog inside when I didn’t want to leave him in the car.

Why do they ask if I would like a purchase in a paper bag. Cant afford the 5 cents? Lots of staff turnover with little experience. Very inappropriate interaction my last visit — will buy at Cedar Mill or Uptown.

Like every liquor store in Oregon, this liquor store makes me feel shameful about buying booze. Having to go to a special store for alcohol makes me feel like I am a junkie stopping in at the methadone clinic. I can’t fault the liquor store for that though. This place has plenty of variety, and lots of mixers, glasses, shakers, etc. The staff is always friendly and helpful.

This store is fully stocked with booze, plus goodies for your cocktail making. Want to rim your drink with fancy sugar? They have it. Need a travel wine opener that won’t be taken by TSA(I know I do!)? They have them for $ 1. I had been searching for one of these in cooking & wine stores, and this was the first place I had found them for a while. Ice? They have a freezer full. This time of the year, they have handy gift sets to pick up on the way to a holiday party. It’s close to QFC if you need munchies & mixers.
