SUPER friendly, knowledgeable staff here make this one of the BEST Aveda stores I’ve ever visited. They know their product, and they take the time to help you find something which you’ll love — and which you’ll feel great about using on your skin and/or hair. I’ve been visiting this store off and on since I lived here 6 years ago and I love going back — even if it’s just to say hi to the wonderful people who work here! Stop by, get a consultation, and leave looking and feeling younger and more hydrated/radiant/beautiful!

Top shelf, all the way. Great products, excellent service, and delicious(free) tea for the weary mall shopper.

Hard sell. Makeup also not worth price. Will take my business online or elsewhere. Friendly, but PUSHY.

I have been going to this store for over 6 years and have never had an unpleasant visit. Every wonderful Aveda technician has always gone beyond anyone’s expectations in customer service and care. I live in Beaverton and it’s always a pleasure to make my fun trip to Downtown Portland and always includes a visit to my favorite Aveda store

This place has amazing customer service! I had to make an exchange, and was greeted warmly by one of the store associates. He even took the time to show me some other products, and did a really good job of creating rapport with me. He was friendly, and knowledgeable about the products. I’ll definitely be back!

Came in yesterday to pick up a bottle of Black Malva shampoo. I was in a hurry so I wanted one thing. A get in and get out kinda deal. They tried to offer me a hand massage. Wanted to sign me up for this and that… Asked me tons of questions. This all happened after I mentioned I was in a hurry. I came into the store because I didn’t want to pay shipping from ordering online, but I wish I would have. I paid for my shampoo and then had to pay for the pump and did not get any free samples. If I ordered online it would have been $ 6 for shipping, but the pump would have been free and I would get three samples. Needless to say, I’ll be an online Aveda customer from now on.

I went to the store in Pioneer Place. I’m not into buying a lot of cosmetics and beauty products, but this place has exceptional customer service. I have signed up for Aveda’s free e-mail program, and twice a month they’ve been sending me specials for free products. The first time I came in I was given a small hair kit for their«Be Curly» line. The second time I visited was around my birthday. They made me a «Pure-Fume» Spirit Spray for free and also gave me a 1.4 fl oz. travel size bottle of their replenishing body moisturizer. Most of their products seem to be natural/organic and made in America(with no animal testing). Each time I go into their store, the staff are very friendly and they don’t pressure you to buy their products. As Olivia mentioned back in 2010, they still will offer guests hot tea while browsing the store, and they are very kind to their customers. I encourage you to try this place out.

I give this location 5 stars because its the only place(that I know of) that happily takes plastic caps for recycling. They don’t require a purchase and do it with a smile. Good for them, its appreciated.

I went in to check products for my hair, walked out with the best hand lotion that I could ever find. How did that happen? Well, let me tell you that this Aveda has nice sales people. They are friendly, very knowledgeable about their products, not pushy, let you try out the samples, and ask questions to find out what you actually need. I came here on Thursday evening and the store was empty. When I walked in, the nice lady gave me free hot tea. Then she asked what was I looking for and I told her that I was looking for conditioner for my hair. She showed me few products, gave me free sample size of one of the product. She offered me hand massage and I was like WOW! This all happened without she pushed me to make a purchase. The mini session of the hand massage was really nice. It was relaxing and I just had to purchase the hand lotion after it ended. I was almost out of my hand lotion and their stress relief hand lotion is my favorite. This store deserves four stars just for their sales people. Not pushy, just friendly.

I’ve never really gotten on the makeup bandwagon, but as I get older I think that I might need to actually use something besides soap to clean my face. Being concerned about animal testing and looking for organic products led me to Aveda. The woman who helped me was wonderful, not even cringing(although she must have been shocked) when I told her my current skin care régime. She showed me which products to use, how to apply the makeup and gave some nice hints for natural looking options. They had free tea and didn’t rush me at all. Only down side: the price. Expect to spend $ 20 on almost every product, but most are large sizes and will last for months.

I know that as liberally minded Portlanders, we do not like the idea of large corporations, animal testing and environmental negligence to be directly involved in our beauty products. We are striving to be different, well informed people that support local, sustainable and environmentally ethical ways of life. This in itself is the angle at which Aveda’s PR campaign is playing so that New age hippies with money and ideals will sleep better in their recycled cotton sheets after having spent $ 20 on a bottle of shampoo. So, news alert: Aveda is owned by Estee Lauder so by buying from them you are holding the hand of the evil that liberal talk radio denounces everyday as you drive your hybrid’s to work. Just information not everyone is aware of . All in all good products if you are not claiming any sort of overt politically aware way of life in which choice of shampoo plays a direct part. I, myself, am a big fan of the Sap Moss line of hair products.

I love the products here and went to pick up some new makeup. The attendant seemed a little annoyed at first that she had to actually help customers. I got that feeling when she mean-mugged a woman she just rung up. While she was helping me, she seemed to be dazing off. She just kept asking me, «So what do you want? So have you made a decision?» What was she in such a big rush for? Oh yeah, so she could keep looking at herself in the mirror. Guess I’ll just get all my products at Salon In Vogue or Dosha where the people are actually helpful.
