Anything Carpets and More

If we could give Aaron with Anything Carpets and More a zero star review we would. Save yourself a lot of heartache and do not hire this company or Aaron McCormick. We hired him to remodel our kitchen and refinish our floors the beginning of January 2016. We were told the project would be fully completed by the end of January (about a 4 week timeline). Aaron comes across as a competent and nice person when you first met him but it’s all an act, the guy did not know what he is doing and is not even licensed to work as a contractor in Oregon.
Aaron wasted no time destroying our kitchen and making it virtually unusable. Throughout the project there were multiple delays, lack of communication and lack of progress on projects. He would repeatedly blame delays on other people, without ever taking responsibility for his actions.
We had arranged for him to refinish our floors while on vacation for a week because we could not be in the home due to the fumes while this was being done. I was pregnant and we have a 3 year old son. While we thought they were getting done, we unfortunately got a call the last day of our trip from Aaron asking when we would be home because he hadn’t even started the floors. So after being on vacation for a week we had to stay with relatives for 9 days while he finished the floors. By now we are into mid February and we still do not have counters or even an install date.
Finally after having no counters by the end of March, and finding out that a lot of the work he did was done incorrectly (2 months after the project was supposed to be done). We decided to fire Aaron and asked for a refund for the work yet to be done. Well no big surprise that we have yet to receive a refund. We had to hire another company to finish the work which cost us an additional $ 5k. This was a nightmare of what was supposed to be a fun project for us. Unfortunately it was extremely stressful and luckily we got the project done a few days before bringing home our newborn baby. Aaron showed no remorse for taking our money or the stress and turmoil he put us through. I would not recommend this contractor to my worst enemy.

We had a terrible experience with this contractor. We hired him to install carpet, install a new room of wood floor to tie into existing wood floor, and install linoleum. In general — he most often did NOT DO WHAT HE SAID HE WOULD DO. He almost never showed up when he said he would (and usually didn’t call to tell me). The work wasn’t done as he said it would be.
Our job was supposed to start May 2014. It started late, with the last item (linoleum in laundry room) being installed August 2014. However, that installation was done improperly by a crew person who «was in a hurry». Aaron said he would replace the installation. In the last year we have contacted him numerous times. He finally started the replacement mid-​September 2015. He removed the old floor, and has not come back to finish the work (it is now one month later). We finally cancelled the contract and will hire someone else to finish the work. In the meantime, my laundry room is unusable.
Here is the sequence of installation events:
The job started late.
The wood floor was installed in the new room. It was sanded, stained. Aaron promised the wood floor would match seamlessly with the existing floor. It did not. The first stain was the wrong color, and was applied incorrectly. His crew had to sand and start over. Aaron then said it would be difficult to match the existing color, so we had to have the entire existing floor re-​sanded and re-​stained. The initial sanding of existing floors was not acceptable (not all of the old stain was removed) and we had to tell Aaron to fix it. The end result of the wood floors was acceptable
As the wood floors were being done (including the kitchen), we could not walk on them, as so had to live on our back porch for two months because there was so much delay in getting Aaron to complete the work.
The installation of the carpet was acceptable, although not done as scheduled.
The linoleum was installed in a bathroom and laundry room in August. The laundry room floor showed waves of bumps. Aaron said the underlying glue had not been sanded properly (he said his crew who did it was «tired and was in a hurry»). He said he would replace it. As stated above, it is now the end of October 2015 and not only is the replacement not done, but Aaron started the job three weeks ago (has removed the old floor) and hasn’t come back to finish it even though he has been promising almost daily to be here.
