I went in for a long overdue haircut today and Brooke (owner) gave this tired look of mind new life! Now, I can go on my trip and look good. Brooke is so funny, she kept me entertained the entire time that I didn’t realize the hour had gone by already. I can’t wait to go back to her for a color treatment.

Words can’t express how much I love this salon. I moved to Portland from LA and have had one of my favorite people handling my hair. Blondes aren’t that common in Portland, so I was really determined to find someone who would make sure it looked great.
I originally found Danielle via Instagram after creeping PDX hair hashtags. I had a consultation and have been loyal to A&A ever since. She’s so sweet, sincere, and awesome at what she does. Brooklyn is always sweet when she’s there, and who doesn’t love the pup Sadie?
I’ve had my hair colored, had tape-​in extensions, and recently switched to clip-​ins, and Danielle dyed those for me, too.
Amazing place, great staff, and incredible work. I always leave obsessed with my hair and the perfect shade of blonde.

I have nothing but great things to say about Brooklyn. She is truly an angel.
I have very, very thick hair with a curl pattern that I cannot stand. Most stylists cannot begin to tackle my hair and make it look good. Brooklyn suggested the Brazilian Blowout and it is nothing short of life changing. I have soft, shiny, straight hair and my styling time has been cut in half. I’m now 2 years and 3 Brazilian Blowouts in and the results are better and better every time.
I’m also newly engaged and have decided to fly Brooklyn in for my wedding. She’s just that great. I can’t live without her.

Danielle did such a great job with my cut! I have thick, wavy hair and she did a great job when cutting to make sure it looks great when I style it myself. Her layers let it look really pretty when I’m lazy and let my hair just do its own thing as well.

I came in after receive a fairly tragic haircut elsewhere and it needed help. Danielle was very nice and definitely fixed my hair. was it an amazing experience, no, was it an out of this world haircut, not really. for the price I could have expected those things. Another thing I thought was odd were the dogs running around. I love dogs, and I get that this is portland and dogs are everywhere, but something about a few chihuahuas running around collecting human hair snippets off the floor on their furry adorable little tails was sort of off putting.

I called multiple times for a gropuon now purchase, they didn’t answer or return my call, I am not sure what is going on with this place.

Got the $ 100 Living social. What a waste! The «deep conditioner» was literally no different than my at home conditioner, except for the ridiculous price I paid at this salon. They use poor products that aren’t effective and when I said the treatment didn’t make a bit of difference, the dark haired stylist just looked at me and said «it looks better to ME.» Um? Hello?! Who is supposed to be happy here, me or the girls who work that shop with a pile high of Coach purses??? The worst part was the way the stylist was trying so hard to stretch her neck to the other conversation in a nearby chair and as she did this, she absent-​mindlessly pulled and broke several of my hairs. On top of it, rather than issuing me a credit for the remainder of my voucher, I simply received a receipt for my services of the day. Haircut was simple but doesn’t lay right as it would in a better salon. In all in all, discount or not, I’d choose to avoid this salon and would not recommend anyone trying it.

I think I’ll give 3 stars for the hair technique and 4 stars for the customer service.
I had the appointment with Danielle. I have asian hair with very strong red tone so I asked her to remove some of the reds. Ultimately I wanted more of a chestnut brown. I know that’s extremely hard to do on asian hair. End result was that my hair was darker than I had asked for. But I will give high remarks because Danielle was clear with the expectation. She said that we’ll have to work a couple more times to get to chestnut brown. I give ¾ stars because after all, I didn’t get what I asked for. But she was so pleasant and helpful. She gave a lot of tips on hair and helped me googled potential hair styles.
I’m still debating if I’ll return to color my hair. However, the brazilian blow out they offer there seems intriguing that I may want to try…

I bought a Living Social coupon for services at this business that I was not able to redeem. The stylist would not honor the certificate saying I had missed an appt. The worst part is that the receptionist remembered me calling in to confirm my appt. She remembered like me that she could not find an appt for me on the books. Somehow, only the end of the call is what we remember differently. She says she suddenly found the appt and confirmed it. What a coincidence! I missed an appt for service that I called in to confirm only to have the women not be able to find it on the books. Even if there had been some kind of misunderstanding, it would have been professional to honor the certificate. Instead, their position inherently called me a liar despite evidence to the contrary. In addition, they were rude and dismissive. Not good for business either. Living Social quickly refunded my money apologizing several times on behalf of the business.

I bought my wife the deal from
. I made decision to purchase the offer based on Unilocal reviews of Brooklyn. We moved here 1 year ago and she has been having difficulty finding a good salan/​stylist. So when I called I was told that the living social deals were scheduled out several weeks later than regular paying customers and when I requested to have my wife’s hair done by Brooklyn and I was told that she was not part of the offer and my wife would need to have her done by someone else and not for at lest 3 weeks.
My wife wanted to do something different with her hair from cut to color and told the stylist this at the start but nohing changed. If I had known that the booking would be almost 3 weeks later to have her done by a normal stylist I would not have purchased this well intenioned gift for my wife because she returned feeling still unimpressed from the whole experience.

Brooklyn is the best! I have been following her around since she first opened Angels & Architects. She is the only person I have trusted with my hair for the past 2 years.
I have been through highlights, dyes, and even the brazilian blow-​out; all I was pleased with. Keep up the great work Brooklyn!

I cannot reccomend this salon more highly — and I cannot impress upon any reader of this review more highly how picky I am about my hair. (I moved to Portland from NY and the selection of decent salons here was, well, less than satisfactory.) My hair is not only hard to tame, in an semi-​unattractive growing out stage, and attached to the head of one of the world’s most neurotic people, but I find that it is an extreme comfort object to me — and I use it largely as a reflection of my self worth. A bad haircut for me is devastating.
I came to Brooklyn feeling terrible about myself — not to mentioned terribley hungover — and she could not have been more awesome. She didn’t try to sell me on anything — she listened to what I wanted/​the issues I had, and then made her suggestions, all of which obviously took into account what I had said.
I walked out of Angels and Architects with GORGEOUS hair. But, as is the true test of a haircut, it was STILL GORGEOUS AFTER I washed it and styled it myself.
The brazilian blowout she suggested has actually given me the hair I’ve always wanted, and three months later its not evening beginning to wash/​grow out. I’m crazy about it.

Angels and Architects gives you SUPERMODEL hair! You can bet now that I live in Los Angeles, I will be back to visit Portland several times a year, if only to see Brooklyn and get her hands on my hair! i love her! If you are in the know, then you should know about A&A!
