Laura is absolutely amazing! I just moved to Portland about six months ago, and was really nervous and anxious about finding a good stylist. She made me feel very comfortable and was really easy to talk to. She completely understood what I wanted and did a great job. She will definitely be my hair stylist from now on, wouldn’t go anywhere else!

Laura Stock is a good one. She listens. She considers options, articulates them, asks practical questions, and listens more. She generates a complete vision of your finished look, verifying and confirming even the small details before beginning. When she gets to work, she is relaxed, composed, friendly, and precise. I had about six inches cropped a few weeks ago, which is a big change, but I am incredibly pleased with the results. The style and amount of layering is just right for me. Finding a great stylist can be challenging when you move to a new town, so I know I got lucky when I found Laura and Level Studio. Very high value for the price. Recommended.

Tonya is amazing & I feel so lucky to have found her. She is so professional, and bends over backwards to make me happy! I’ve recommended her to my friends and anyone who truly cares about the health of their hair. She has helped me go from brown box colors to ombré to blonde; beautiful hair extensions to my own hair growing out. I cannot say enough great things about not only her technical skills, but how much she truly cares about me! I feel like I’m chatting with a best friend I’ve known all my life when I have an appt.
I also feel that I have hard hair to color. It always pulls red and looks brassy when blonde. NOT with Tonya, I have the exact tone that I want — golden to ashy. That takes skill that I have not found in anyone else. She doesn’t ever say my hair is hard — probably because it isn’t hard for her! She is so good at what she does!
I have to mention some of the ways Tonya has bent over backwards for me:
*dropped off product to my work when I’ve needed it
*scheduled me on her day off to accommodate my schedule
*offered to cut my 2 year olds hair for free
*honest (big thing to me!) about what would work and keep my hair healthy. For example, when it’s time to take extensions out, cut or go in stages to another color, rather than all at once (preserving the health of my hair).
*remembers and LISTENS to my needs
I could go on and on. I bring my daughter by to say hello when in the neighborhood because Tonya is so sweet and understanding with kids.
Love her and just cannot say enough good things!!!
I have to mention that the salons Kevin Murphy products are the very best I’ve ever used. Tonya never pushes product, however when I ask, she is very knowledgable and offers advice.
Tonya is my favorite & I highly recommend an appointment with her!

There is literally nothing bad I can say about this salon. Amazing service, friendly staff, not overpriced in the least, and the best haircuts I have ever had. Laura S. is the perfect blend of professionalism and fun! I refuse to go anywhere else!

I do not have enough good things to say about Tonya! She is a true master of her craft. I have been going to her for over a year now for hair extensions and have been blissfully happy. I have gotten numerous compliments on my hair and when I tell people that I have extensions, they are stunned. Tonya has had extensive training with hair extensions and is THE person to go to if you want top of the line results. She is also amazing with color. Helm is conveniently located and very reasonably priced. I guarantee that you will be thrilled with the results!

Megan has been cutting my ever-​evolving-​short hair every 4 – 6 weeks for the last 4 years. I have coarse, thick hair with lots of wave, which in my experience with other stylists has proven rather easy to screw up! Megan always gets it just right, and has recently helped me to smoothly transition to a longer style. I have absolute confidence and trust in her technique – she is amazing!
I should also mention that I’ve had a few cuts from Marina as well. She is equally excellent – these girls have talent! The price is just right, and the salon is beautiful. Really, go check it out.

This place is darling! I’ve been getting my hair cut at bishops for years now and won’t be back there again. The girls at Helm were all so sweet and and getting a quick appointment was cake. I wasn’t sure what I wanted but chatted with Laura who gave me the most rad hair cut I’ve had yet. It’s affordable and I left feeling like a million bucks.

I see Laura at Helm (I followed her from her previous salon). She is the only hair stylist I have been consistent with. She listens, she is sensible and she is a great stylist.

On my recent visit to Portland I met a hostess at Besaw’s with a cutest short hair do. I asked her where she cuts her hair and she replied «oh, actually just next door… With Laura». Fortunately I was able to book an appointment right away… Laura was very accommodating and friendly. My friend and I loved the salon and the whole experience. Laura is fun, knowledgeable and thorough in her work. I was happy with the cut and still am two weeks later! I just wish the salon wasn’t 1,000+ miles away ;)
