Allow Me Sculpture

The Allow Me sculpture is wonderful by being simple in the premise that it has. It is a sharp dressed dandy who visitors love to stand next to and get their pictures with for some odd reason. As usual for our cherished art, the detail is impressive and the location in Pioneer Square is also mostly impressive.
I walked up to it after seeing tourists taking pictures with it. The individual depicted had the kind of attire welcome at a wedding and it was neat. Sometimes, people will sit in chairs close to it, as they do through the little events going on almost daily in the square. I could get Starbucks and view it from the steps at some point.
Allow Me is a welcome part of Pioneer Square.

The statue is often nicknamed «umbrella man.» It does really look Portland somehow, maybe that is that just the umbrella? It is popular with people taking pictures with him, He is located on the upper level of the square close to the food cart. Anyway the statue is of a buisness man in a suit who appears to be running to catch someone, or maybe a bus.

Quintessential Portland! The creator of «Allow me» is J. Seward Johnson, and was made in 1984. It’s good place to stop and get out of the rain (unless there’s lightening) and he’s not giving up that umbrella.
