Last weekend my husband and I went to Portland for the first time and it happened to be the weekend of Feast Portland, so I bought tickets to this Grand Tasting event. We went to the Friday event that lasted from 1 – 5PM. We were there for nearly 3 hours of the 4 hour event. What I loved about it, was how relaxed it was. It wasn’t overcrowded, there were very few lines for food or drink, and nothing ran out early! I’ve been to some tasting events where I felt like I had to ran around and grab food so as not to get left high and dry, but this was not like that at all. We were able to eat and drink leisurely, people-watch, take photos and just relax. When we arrived, we spend a lot of time in the wine tent, which featured several local vineyards, each featuring several of their wines. As it was our first time in Oregon, it was fun to try some different varietals than we were used to. We gradually made our way to the Bön Appétit tent, where we tried more wine, as well as some charcuterie and brats. Finally, we braved the big tent with everything else, including more wine, cider, beer, desserts, cheese, and anything from seared tuna to habanero jam. There was also a DJ, photo booth, and an ice cream stand opened up toward the end of the event. This event made me want to try some of the other events at Feast Portland. If you are near Portland, I definitely recommend this event!

If you are going to Feast Portland, this is the one to dive face-first into. It’ll smack you upside the head, shake you from the ankles, and plug jumper cables onto your protruding bits. It really is hedonism for the food and drink crowd. The Pioneer Courthouse Square provides the perfect setting for an event of this scale. There are drinks, appetizers, entrees, desserts, demonstrations, and photos with large scale Pacific Northwest props. My first year here blew my mind. Pace yourself if you have other Feast events to attend, or else you’ll burn out. It really is this nutty and fantastic. Bounty really is the heart of Feast Portland. You get a taste of the region, feel of the folks, and a sample of the overall vibe. Every single second of it will be worthwhile. Feast On!
