another cool and interesting coffee spot. stopped by for some warming up, but also needed something to go with bovines baked goods. one of the few places open in point reyes when we got in and their coffee hit the right spot in many ways,… comforting, hot, mild and smooth.

It was pretty good, but I like a different grind and which they weren’t cash only.

I had high hopes for Toby’s Coffee Bar seeing that I’m truly smitten with Toby’s Feed Barn. The coffee bar is tucked away in a small corner of the barn with just a few small outdoor tables and chairs. The two women working the bar were huddled in the back deep in conversation. My best friend and I patiently stood at the counter waiting to be noticed… 10 minutes later we were finally acknowledged and ordered our lattes. The women proceeded to gossip away as we stood there. Our drinks arrived and upon first glance, my best friend noticed that the very poorly made latte had coffee grinds floating in her latte. She politely beckoned to one of the baristas and pointed out the mistake which was received with a sigh and a roll of the eyes. While she was dealing with this dilemma, I was attempting to dilute the very acidic coffee with some milk at the small station with the various coffee lids, straws, creams, and sweeteners. The milk containers were empty. I then approached the counter and informed the baristas. I was given a withering stare… Finally, we left with our coffees, that in the end, were lazily made and not stellar in taste. The coffee beans had been burnt and the milk did not taste as fresh as it could have been. Too exhausted to face more hostility, we admitted defeat and left the premises. I’d like to think that this was a unfortunate, one time mishap of Toby’s Coffee Barn employees, so, I’ll remain opportunistic for a future visit.

Cute little coffee station in Point Reyes. SO and I stopped here for a coffee refuel especially because it’s so well known in the area. It’s a small place, cash only, basically just a window serving up your espresso based drinks and pastries. We got a latte which was decent, but nothing amazing – did the trick, but don’t have much to rave about the place.

We first noticed the line, because this small shop is tucked inside a larger open air style barn shopping area. As I walked up to order, a somewhat sexist thought popped into my head. Ahh I thought, there’s nothing like to pretty baristas to draw a crowd. After I sipped my coffee I regretted that first thought, not because the baristas weren’t attractive, but because the line was there for the really good coffee these two baristas served up. We ordered a mocha latte and a brewed black coffee. Both were first class. Compare to Starbucks and Peets, I rate the mocha equal to Peets, superior to Starbucks. The black coffee bested any I have had at Starbucks, but perhaps was just a ½ star short of Peet’s best. I would stop and order coffee anytime I drive through Pt. Reyes and highly recommend you do the same.

Staff was a little aloof, but that was forgotten when they quickly poured me an excellent iced cappuccino on a hot day. Skip the baked goods. The barn location was super cool and unique. Interesting people to talk to here too.

Very disappointed in the breakfast sandwich. Given Christian’s fame for his cheese sandwiches I did not expect a plain white cheapo hamburger bun with an egg and ham. No sauce, no mayo, no cheese. Very boring

Small coffee bar adjacent to Toby’s. No indoor seating — truly a coffee bar — but picnic tables outside offer a chance to take a load off. My problem was with my order: an iced white chocolate latte. There wasn’t a hint of sweetness about it — I would’ve guessed a regular iced coffee on a blind taste test. Adding their organic sugar barely moved the dial. Drank a little but reluctantly gave up and dumped it in the trash: 4.50 down the drain. Not sure how you come up with a non-sweet white chocolate latte.

My husband says it was maybe the worse mocha he has ever had, my son said it was okay. Perhaps it was the almond milk that made the difference but either way not stellar.

I thought the café au lait was excellent, the coffee beans and roasting process they use has quality based on the pure smooth taste I sensed. They currently use very high quality milk called Strauss. It seems quality places use Strauss. Keep up the quality and I’ll be back :)

Toby’s Coffee Bar is a picture perfect way station lodged in the hillsides of West Marin. You’ve got amazing views of Pt. Reyes National Seashore and the San Andreas Fault rift zone. The coffee will have you quaking… in a good way. It’s a humble establishment, and for Marin County, inexpensive. It’s a unique place in that it’s cash-only&has ONLY outdoor seating. However, it has reasonable prices and great views. It’s a hangout for hippies, hipsters, artists, bicyclists.

A local’s hang out. Terrific artistic latte’s and wonderful pastries. A great place to read the local papers and hang out.

Kelle and I stopped in during our New Year’s getaway, and they certainly serve up a taste cup. We each got a double Americano and it was good enough to move Four Barrel Coffee from the Terrible column over to the Tasty column — I once had some here at work and it was just awful. The coffee(with a splash of half & half) was rich and flavorful. FYI — they’re a cash only business. This made no difference to us, but it seems folks around here prefer to whine about such trivial things.

Toby’s almond milk latte is my dream come true. Their espresso is strong and the milk was perfectly steamed. My boyfriend gave their cappuccino a two thumbs up!

The staff was nice and friendly, the location is cute and centrally located, with outdoor seating! Everything ancillary to the coffee was quite enjoyable. However my cappucino was no good. The coffee itself was just bad. Not in a «spit it out, lest you get ill» way, but a «I have no interest in having any more of this $ 3.75 coffee, even though I’ve only had a few sips» way. I tossed it out two blocks away and got a Pepsi at the market instead.

I have only been one time but I had amazingly rude service from the woman who was at the counter. My order came out wrong(I ordered a latte and was given a mocha) and when I informed her, she told me I ordered a mocha. No discussion, that’s it. I asked around to my friend and they confirmed I ordered the latte(all I ever order). The woman said I would have to buy another one if I wanted a latte. Seriously? Horrible service!

Personally the coffee here is way to strong and bitter for me. And the coffee has a slightly strange taste. Thought I would try it one more time and was still disappointed.

Wonderful little coffee shop tucked into a warehouse. Serves delicious coffee from Four Barrel and brews each cup with care and love. Well worth a stop if you’re driving the 1.

A very special tiny coffee shop located at the Point Reyes station along highway 1. It’s a sustainable community with beautiful fruits, veggies, handmade shirts, creaking outdoor rocking chairs, pumpkins and harvest decors. It’s a great spot to pause during a winding highway 1 north ward trip. Both the café latte and chai(highly recommend) have a perfect house blend of sweetness(subtle and mild) and creaminess(also smooth and mild, not overwhelming at all). Get some almond crunchy bites with caramelized tops. Then just soak up the sun, sit back and enjoy.

Their gluten-free peanut butter cookie sandwich was LIFE-CHANGING. I can’t even explain it. In between these perfectly chewy, sugar-encrusted peanut butter disks of deliciousness sat a creamy dark chocolate ganache. I got the last one of the day, and I savored it with all of my being. The coffee is also extremely good. They use Dagoba chocolate for their mochas, which gives the drink a smooth and even flavor, allowing the espresso to show through but still leaving bittersweet notes on your tongue. This place is a must-stop when you’re in the Point Reyes area.
