We love smart and final. The deals they have are fantastic, they usually have cereal, cheese, frozen dinners, and soda on sale for great prices. They had a huge pack of cheddar cheese for 5 dollars. They also have deals on sodas very often for 89 cents. They have whole chickens for 89 cents a pound as well. A decent sized chicken was only 5 bucks. Unbeatable. The people who work in here are super nice, We made some new friends that work here now, Always super talkative and ready to work. As I said before the selection of food and sales are great. I never really shopped here often but now often shop here for the deals I can’t miss. I would do my entire shopping list here if there’s was more selection, but there isn’t since it’s a fairly small store. I can remember Smart And Final being around for some time and have to have been doing better than I expected, I also thought that it was more like a grocery outlet. But they have most products pretty consistently. Parking is easy and quick since there’s a lot of handicap parking in the front.(Most of the shoppers are old or disabled because those deals) I would recommend this store to all my friends and family. I’m going back really soon to get Coca puffs. Last time Coca Puffs were on sale we got 4 boxes for 2 dollars each. Conclusion is I really like the store, and it’s above par for«chain store» standards by my means. It’s better than most chain grocery markets like Lucky and Savemart. They also have party and restaurant supplies. If you’re going and can live of a few things this is the store to go to.

Fun little place to go shopping, they seem to be about a season behind on some things but it’s fun to walk around and spot hidden treasures or grab things you thought you might have missed.

They have everything a regular grocery has plus some party and restaurant supplies. It’s about twice the size of your regular TJ’s and a lot less crowded. The ambiance is more on the Costco side of things. The floors are cement and the signs are basic. I did notice a few items in the cooking supplies that I wouldn’t expect at a typical grocery store, maybe add a touch of restaurant supply too. If you don’t need a ton of selection, Smart & Final will be fine. They have everything you need and it may be faster to get in and out in the small store.

My first Smart & Final experience was the now defunct store on San Pablo Avenue in Berkeley. The Pleasant Hill facility is close by, so Gayle and I use primarily to help cater small work or family related events. I guess that makes us an occasional part of the small restaurant trade of which Smart and Final appears to serve. This Smart & Final has wide aisles, easy checkout, and best of all no Costco-related traffic jams or crowds. At the same time, there’s room in my shopping basket for both as price points and selection are often complementary.

This was the second stop on our suburban tour. I usually shop at the Smart & Final in Richmond/San Pablo or in Vallejo when I worked there, but this is the brightest, cleanest one I know. I discovered it when my mother was living close by and it was convenient to stop there after a visit. This store ALWAYS has the specific toilet paper and Kleenex I buy, which is not true of the other stores,(daughter and I are VERY fussy about these things) and while I wouldn’t drive out to Pleasant Hill just to shop here, I’m happy to swing by when I’m out here anyway.
