This is a really neat place. I always get excellent service. Shout out to JT who is very friendly and never fails to take care of us.

Magoo’s has been a go to place for a bunch of our senior softball players and in our case it isn’t for the beer it’s the food, the service and the staff. The history of Magoo’s goes back to the days when it was a biker bar and most people had no reason to go there. Over the past three years a group of us has had been enjoying lunch and an occasional dinner at Magoo’s and you won’t meet a friendlier staff anywhere. Foods great, people are great from the cooks to the wait staff, to the ownership, you will never go wrong going to Magoo’s.

After having been out of the circuit for a number of months, I went to Magoo’s after work for a libation & a meal recently. We all know it is so difficult to find places, even with good food, with a consistently high level of customer service & attention to detail. I felt Magoo’s had slipped a bit, as I have very high standards, but upon my return, I found improvements in every aspect of the business, food, organization, conduct of the bar & wait staff, real customer service, & even an improvement in the clientele. I am very thanks for all the improvements, but fully believe that the architects of all the positive changes were due in all respects to two of Magoo’s mainstays, Jenny & Heather. It would be difficult to find more customer-centered, professional employees in any industry. Also credit should be given to Yema & Elias, who cook up all the great menu items. If you have not been to Magoo’s, I would suggest giving it a try, If I still lived in the city(San Francisco), I would make the trip to Magoo’s regularly for great food, atmosphere, customer service, & above all a truly caring staff & environment. Many kudos!!!

After an event on Friday night, a bunch of us were hungry and weren’t ready to go home. I called Magoo’s to let them know there would be around 12 of us coming in. The gal who answered couldn’t have been friendlier or more inviting! When we arrived, we decided to sit in the bar area and JT helped to push tables together and add stools for sitting. He was an awesome waiter and took great care of all of us while we were there. He was friendly, funny, quick with our orders, and had all of the qualities that an employer looks for when hiring someone to give their business a great reputation! Because the food and drinks were excellent and JT is one of the best servers in town, we“ll be back to Magoos very soon! And I would also recommend their tri-tip salad! There is none better!

Thursdays are Prime Rib night, served from 5:30 pm until they run out! Always pass by this place so decided to give it a try and it was worth it. For $ 9.95, prime rib 8 oz with a dinner roll, steamed veggies and mashed potatoes. Add $ 4.00 and get the cowboy cut 12 oz with above sides. The cowboy cut is a generous portion that comes with au jus, horseradish, butter and sour cream. Quality is better than expected and price is very reasonable for amount of food. Service was really good as well. Our server checked up on us multiple times. Also, tried the buffalo wings which were good also. The sauce wasn’t too salty/tangey. They serve breakfast all day as well. Plenty of tables in the front of the house with bar in the back with enough tvs. Really a neighborhood gem that have better options than your usual bar/sports bar. Happy hour menu looked great as well with most appetizers being half off, 3:00 to 5:30 pm on weekdays.

We haven’t had a bad dish at Magoo’s. It is a secret place. We don’t want too many to know were it is because then it will get to crowded. We are partial to the Tri-tip salad and the Salmon Caesar. Our friends like the special Nachos that aren’t made with processed cheese. Others love their breakfast omelets. The burgers are fabulous!(Some are sad that they don’t have pickles.) The Philly Cheese Steak would be a great for a change. All the staff are friendly.

One star for the food being edible. I added a star because the service was good. Bland, boring, generic, uninspired, typical american fare. Won’t be back.

Thursday night. Date night. On this particular«date night,» we were both feeling Magoo’s Prime Rib Thursday. We sat at the bar and within moments received prompt and friendly service. Our food arrived fast, fresh, and delicious. The meaty goodness that is their prime rib served with sautéed veggies, baked potato(sour cream, butter, and chives), and a dinner roll. With TV’s everywhere, Thursday night Prime Rib specials, a formidable happy hour menu, and that dive bar feel that I appreciate… I would definitely consider returning to Magoo’s. HH menu is as follows: BBQ Chicken Quesadilla– $ 4.95 Glazed Buffalo Wings– $ 4.79 Chicken Tenderloins– $ 4.79 Magoo’s Famous Nachos– $ 4.99 Crispy French Fries– $ 2.50 Caesar Salad– $ 5.00 Magoo’s Salad– $ 3.25 Magoo’s ¼ lb Hamburger & Fries– $ 4.25 Magoo’s ¼ lb Cheeseburger & Fries– $ 5.25 Grilled Cheese & Fries– $ 3.95 HH food and drink special hours are, Monday through Friday 3 – 5:30pm and Sunday through Wednesday 9pm-midnight.

Interesting place. The main room is a real sports bar while the front is more of a restaurant setting. Still some TVs for sports but a little more refined. There’s also an area of the dining room that has high booths if you don’t really want the sports bar thing. The food was better than expected. I had a salmon caesar salad and an Arrogant Bastard Ale. My love had a tritip sandwich that was cooked perfectly. The service was attentive. One ding, the table, chairs, plastic sign with happy hour info and condiment containers were all a little grimy. Not to the point we felt uncomfortable eating but it was very noticeable. Just a slightly sticky sheen that could have been wiped away very easily.

Came here twice in the last few weeks… once with a group and the service was fast and the food was good – even though we got there at almost 11PM. Came one more time for lunch and it was very good as well. Good service and good food. Good value!

O.k., so why are their hamburgers and fries so good? How wonderful to be considered a «regular». I accept the honor with great humility and while looking forward to my next perfectly-cooked hamburger with cheddar.

First time trying this place tonight for dinner after purchasing a Groupon for $ 20 worth of food + 2 draft beers. Parking was super easy to find as there is a parking lot right in front of the place. After walking in, we just seated ourselves since thats what the sign said to do in front. So we got a seat at a booth with some comfy cushions. A few minutes after we sat down our server came over to ask if we wanted to start off with anything to drink. So we got 2 bottles of Angry Orchard since we were both feeling like drinking cider tonight. For food we split a bacon cheeseburger and a tri tip sandwich, both with fries. Food arrived pretty quickly! We also asked for hot sauce and our server brought over Tapatio and this one sauce that Ive never heard of before called«The Pepper Plant!» That one was pretty spicy and really good even though it was slightly on the saltier side. Regardless, I still put that sauce all over the burger and sandwich! Yummm! Overall, food was pretty good and the customer service was excellent! =) Also, the layout of this place is pretty cool, since they have a bar on one side and a dining area on the other side.

This place is your pretty generic american style grill! Not bad, not pricey either. I came here with a group of 5 and we were able to use that 40 $ groupon deal(what a deal!). Not bad. I got the fish and chips, their portions are moderate. I have not been here for the bar or drinks area but I probably would come here for some cheap american eats such as burgers, fries and steak!

I did a groupon for this and it was atrocious. I’ve seen more groupons for this. Don’t waste your time. Dingy on the inside, food was poor. A bad joke. How they actually get a decent review is beyond my imagination. Or they are all buddys that get some free drinks. Here’s what I think. People are seduced by portion sizes. If they give you a big pile it’s like WOW! Even if it is a pile of crap, for a lot of people it’s still WOW!

This review is way overdue, as I’ve been going to Magoo’s for a couple years, & am pleased to have found it & to recommend it for a number of reasons. First let me say I have tended bar for over 10 years & been in a position of having to provide exemplary customer service in a number of industries over the years, & I tend to be fairly«picky» in terms of both food, service & atmosphere. That being said, after coming from Chinatown in San Francisco after over 10 years & leaving my favorite neighborhood Financial District bar, the EZ5, on Commercial Street, I found Magoo’s, So far they have provided a consistently high level of service, food, & ambiance. It is a combination of a local neighborhood bar & restaurant/diner with a good following. The reason I believe is because of the staff. I read some negative comments in another post regarding Heather, & from my two years’ experience as a customer there, I’m simply not buying it. Is Magoo’s a perfect place? No. If you want continental service & cuisine, & European menu & a lot of frills, it just ain’t gonna happen. However, if you want good food & a warm, welcoming, friendly environment, just stop by & give it a try. Heather & Jenny of the bartenders/serving staff & the two excellent cooks will provide more than a «just okay» dining/lounge experience. The Thursday Prime Rib Special is a real bargain, as is their happy hour & senior menu as well. Please take the time to go by Magoo’s & post your thoughts. I will be interested to see if my experiences will be validated.

Giant Date Night Review #01: My wife and I explore the local sports bars to find the perfect place to enjoy some beer and of course, to watch our Giants win some games! This is our first review, so this is sort of a base line for all our future reviews! We will be looking at: beer order to beer in hand time, # of taps, price, screens, atmosphere and of course… did our team win(j/k)!? The Story: Giants vs. Diamondbacks @ 6:05(Saturday), 7-game losing streak. We showed up just in time to see the first few at bats. We chose to sit at a lone table instead of at the bar. Service was quick and they checked on us often. Beers on Tap: With 9 taps it seemed like there were quite a few choices, but there was nothing really different/unique. It was your regular: bud, shock top, Sam Adams with some extra Sierras thrown in(I’m not a big fan). 3⁄5 *average Beer Order: Our beers got to us in less than 3 minutes(I fumbled the actual time). Quick! 4⁄5 *above average Price: No happy hour on Saturdays? Well our beers were $ 5.00(happy hour price is $ 4.25), but we were able to get 10% off with a Unilocal check-in deal. 4⁄5 *above average Screens: There were some larger screens by the bar, but our seats were pretty close to the smaller TVs. It was nice to have the sound for the game as well loud and clear. I don’t think that will always be the case so I’ll give an extra point for that. 4⁄5 *above average Atmosphere: This place is clean, quiet(at least at the time we were there) and very warm. Wasn’t too bright or too dark. It was great. 5⁄5 The Game: Giants win 1 — 4, the highlight being Crawford’s two-run homer!

Got introduced to Magoo’s through a Groupon for a burger meal. After visiting the nearby mall, a burger and beer sounded like a good idea. Walking in for lunch the place only had a couple of customers and there was sign advertising happy hour 3 – 5:30 pm. Good hours if you work nearby but if you commute in, it’s too early. They also have a Thursday night special of $ 10 prime rib till they run out. I’m sure it goes quickly. The burger was decent and the beer and service were good too. Nothing to write home about but overall average. A good option when there’s a game on. Parking is easy in their lot

After seeing the sign and reading the Unilocal reviews we decided to try this place on prime rib night. We were pleasantly surprised. The prime rib was very flavorful and good quality. They only had a butter knife and that was all you needed to cut it. It was served with mash potatoes veggies and a roll Our server Sam was top notch super friendly and very attentive. Happy hour is a good deal for drinks. It’s definitely a neighbor bar and I mean that in a good way. My only negative is we had a resteraunt. Com and we were not allowed to use it. From what I recall it did not say that when we bought it. I understand but advanced notice would have been nice. Over all great experience and we will be back. I recommend you try it.

I have eaten several meals here all of which ended below expectations. The chicken wings are horrible. I recently ordered the«famous» burger. When I hear famous I don’t think of a burger made with the cheapest meat, buns and cheese available at safeway but I guess somebody likes it. Ps don’t ask me what kind of cheese I want if it just comes with craft singles regardless. Two stars because half of the staff I have interacted with are nice.

Nice little bar and grill. Pretty quiet on a Tuesday night. Service was fast and friendly. The beer was cold and well poured. The tri tip steak was perfectly cooked and came with a loaded baked potato and nicely steamed veggies. After a hard day at the office, what more could you ask for? Magoo’s nails its role as a bar and grill.

Magoo’s is a chill little neighborhood bar — nothing too fancy but it’s great for a few beers and watching whatever game is on tv(and on a bigger screen than I own) so I’m a fan :) Tried the fish tacos and they were pretty good for being«bar food”– my roommate loves this place too so I know we will be back again!

Yes. It’s a bar. They have food, but it’s pretty darn good. Arrived around 7 on a Friday. Choice if a table in the restaurant portion, or the bar. We chose the bar. Plenty of tables and we were closer to the booze. A Manhattan and a house gin Martini later, our food arrived in a timely fashion. We ordered fish and chips, calamari and plain chicken wings. The fries were crisp and the fish tasty. Came with tarter and a slaw that is better than most, but not as good as the Mrs. Calamari was ok. A little soggy but tasty and hot. The plain wings were awesome. Came with ranch and celery, and a side of buffalo sauce. You could tell by the picture of in previous review, or at least I could. Reminds me of Chinese fried wings. Will go again.

WAKEYWAKEY, EGGSANDBAKEY, I MEANSAUSAGE! You know it’s going to be a good day when the first thing the wife asks you when you get up is, «what time does Magoo’s Grill stop serving breakfast?» Well its 2:00 in the afternoon for everyone who didn’t know. Breakfast is my favorite meal by far and if I ever have the choice between breakfast or lunch I’m going with breakfast. On Sunday morning after we decided to use our Amazon Local deal that we bought for Magoo’s Grill. This deal came with 1 Mimosa or 1 Bloody Mary and Eggs Benedict(Traditional, Vegetarian, or Royale) for each person. You were also able to trade the Eggs Benedict out for any other breakfast item on the menu if you so desired. My wife has been on an Eggs Benedict kick lately so she was super happy with the deal as it stood, but I chose to go with a more traditional breakfast. Two eggs over easy, with crunchy hash browns, sausage links, and sourdough toast When we first walked in there wasn’t anyone ready to sit us so we walked back towards the bar and found a table in the back. A waitress came pretty quickly and asked if we were having breakfast or lunch, and then handed us the corresponding menus. As she set down the menus she also brought both of us a glass of water which was nice that we got them so quick and didn’t have to ask for them. We then told her about the living social deal and how we would both like a Bloody Mary instead of the Mimosa. She then took our food order and within a couple of minutes we had our newly made drinks in our hands. I like Bloody Mary’s but let me tell you, this Bloody Mary was STRONG and after one drink I felt it. Thankfully, the food arrived very shortly and there was a problem with my wife’s but everything on my plate was perfect. The problem with Amy S.‘s(my wife), was that she wanted the hollandaise sauce on the side and they forgot. The waitress was really good about it and had the cook fix up another one and she even gave Amy S. another Bloody Mary on the house which she really didn’t need. I’m sure if I was feeling the first and only drink that I had she was definitely feeling two of them. I love crunchy hash browns and these were some of the best I have ever had. The only downside was I didn’t get a very big portion of them but my wife made up for it by giving me some of hers which was actually a much bigger portion. The sausage links were dynamite; they were cooked perfectly and had a great taste. The two eggs were just how I like them cooked and exactly how I ordered them Over Easy. This seems harder and harder to find nowadays, a cook, which can cook, the perfect egg. In the end we walked out of Magoo’s Grill with full bellies, smiles from the Bloody Mary’s, and a great brunch deal.
