Porciones enormes. Sabor ideal. Claro, latinos cocinando siempre es un exito. Omelette Español, Breakfast burrito, huevo con chorizo, hasta los bagels estan buenos y muy buen precio.

Great food waitress was great and nice but MGR/owner daughter is rude and not great with customers. Won’t be back for a very long time, first time that I had bad services here.

CASHONLY which is why I usually dont go but I love this place. Their breakfast food you can order anytime is the bomb and their vanilla malts ARETHEBEST. I also love how they’re open at night during weekdays. The staff are always friendly. It can get pretty crowded around breakfast time though.

Until I moved from the area, I probably went to Chef Burger over 1000 times since I was a young boy. When my dad was still alive, this was our go to spot. Everything is delicious here, the service is great, and it reminds me of my dad. We called it our«greasy spoon» and were on a first name basis with most of the staff and owners. That was many years ago though and I have since moved to Oregon. If you are anywhere near the Concord/Pleasant Hill/Walnut Creek area… make a trip over to Golf Club road and have yourself some Giant Chef Burger. You wont be disappointed.

This place is wonderful and the décor is really nice! Definitely would recommend — great service and food. I came here with some friends ten minutes before closing time but we still had the same great service and quality as usual. Everyone may have been in a rush to get home but they still were good waitresses. The food was delicious. Their breakfast is great. I ordered an omelette and it was seasoned wonderfully. The bread was toasted perfectly as well. The omelette also came with a hash which was pretty crispy and also had good seasoning. The portion size was great and definitely fulfilling! One of my favorite places for some classic, delicious breakfast food and will definitely come again

Figures that about a month before I move away I find out about this place. And boy have I been missing out! Legitimately the BEST pancakes I’ve EVER had. Not even an exaggeration. Their omelettes are great, too. Guaranteed great service, really delicious food, and a recurring craving for blueberry pancakes. Doesn’t even matter if you’ve never tried them, you’re going to crave them.

Marty Turcios has been coming here for about 25 years. The whole gang here treats him with respect. They speak to Marty, rather than only speaking to me, they chop up his food so he can eat it easily and they are so used to him paying the bill that they give the bills to him rather than me. These little things make Marty so happy! Marty was born with severe cerebral palsy, yet he has earned a Masters Degree and teaches, however; many people treat him as if he is retarded. NOT! God bless Giant Chef!

My husband and I went after wanting to go for about a year. I hate that we didn’t come sooner. It was a great meal. Sorry we ate it too fast to take pictures. The chicken jalapeño mango sausage was excellent. Our server MARY was happy and on point! I’m ready to go again. Loved this homey breakfast/lunch spot.

I have been coming to this place for years(since the mid-90’s). It was good then and it’s still good today. Their burgers are out of this world and their service is also top notch. In the 20 years that I have been coming here, I have probably had almost everything on their menu and I must say, I don’t remember having anything I didn’t like. Their desserts are also very good and their shakes(Dryers ice cream), is yummy! They used to be 24⁄7 but because of shady people at night, they are only open 24 hours during weekdays. This is definitely an iconic place. If you’re in the area or if you’re a local, this place is a must!

Didn’t think it was possible to burn country fried steak. Paid 13 bucks for 3 eggs and some toast. Oh well. At least i got to watch the toaster operator hand out bacon from the batch of cooked bacon that had been resting for 15 min. So if you want burned food and cold bacon, come on over.

Sooooooo GOOD!!! A very good friend referred us to this establishment. His family has been coming her for years… So the restaurant is quaint. Indoor and outside seating. A FULL menu: breakfast all day, as well as burgers, sandwiches, soups. Our visit was amazing!!! Seat yourselves. Order. Eat. Pay. Done! That easy. We opted for breakfast food at 5pm on a Tuesday. Eggs Benedict and Steak & Eggs. Oh my goodness, the Benedict was PERFECT! And the pouched egg drizzled its Godly-goodness all over the plate(portions are too BIG!!!). Husbands Steak(choice of New York strip or Ribeye) and eggs was stupid-big & delicious – they nailed medium rare!!! We both ate our meal«like KINGS»!!! Ice tea was fresh, and our waitstaff brought refills accordingly! This meal made our day, week, hell, we just found our NEW place!!! Chef Burger, I will TELL everyone that comes to my «establishment» how amazingly awesome your place is!!! I only wish I could remember our server’s name. But on a good note, both the ladies working were ROCKING it. They have this job nailed down and regulars were visible. I hope we can be regs!!! Thank You Ladies!!! 12.08.15 5:30pm

Yes, This is a CASHONLYBUSINESS. Regardless what they have lacked in technology they have more than made up for in QUALITY of food and service. We have been coming here for years and have had an opportunity to be served by all of their servers and all of them have been friendly and accommodating. We do have our favorite though and that is Kathleen. She typically works the counter and we try to get seated with her because she treats us like family. As for the food we have eaten at all times of the day and probably every item on the menu and without exception the food is great. My favorite Breakfast is the chicken fried chicken with scrambled eggs and hash browns. We will continue to come here till we can’t.

First time at this restaurant. We happen to be in the area, and the place we were going to go to was still closed. So we decided to check this place out for brunch. The restaurant was packed at 10 a. m, but we were seated right away coz there was just two of us. Our server was very nice, friendly, and knowledgeable about what’s on the menu. Our food was served very fast. We ordered the Spanish omelette with ground beef. It was ver tasty and the portion was good. It had hash browns as a side to the omellete. The hashbrown was cooked the way we wanted it– crispy, but not burnt. Our server was very attentive and checked us up from time to time to see if we needed anything. This restaurant deserves a 5 star, food was delish and staff are friendly!!! We’ll surely be back to try more items on the menu!!!

CASHONLY. CASHONLY. CASHONLY! If you don’t have cash, you can walk in the rain across the street to the ATM. Let’s talk about the food and service. Food tastes great. It is very good, this place must have lasted a long time because of the food. And the service at the start was great. The waitress read my mind and filled my coffee every time I wanted it refilled. But she forgot to mention at the beginning that it is cash only. The service started to decline when I went to the cashier to pay, the cashier seemed rude and annoyed having to say that it’s cash only. There weren’t a lot of obvious signs and she admitted that. She suggested I go outside to the ATM across the street while it’s pouring rain outside. I could tell the cashier was annoyed that they couldn’t accept anything but cash. This place is great, I just wish a place doing as good as it is can invest in the technology needed in the year 2016.

They should post that they only take cash, the large party next to us didn’t have enough to pay their bill, not sure what happened we left, but the waitress said it was posted on the menu and the door, we didn’t notice on menu and looked on the way out and didn’t see anything. We are new to the area this was our first time, our food was great but we had to eat fast before it got cold, we were seated in the patio with plastic cover that didn’t keep it very warm and it was a nice day, can’t imagine what it will be like when it’s colder, if they invest in a heater to make it comfortable I would return, the women next to us had a blanket on her lap, must be a regular. We should have figured it out when the hostess was wearing a parka.

I’ve been patronizing this greasy spoon since I was a toddler. In recent time this has become a wham bamm thank you mam chefs playground. The Eggs Benedict is not poached! When I asked why my eggs looked fried the waitress replied that they are basted. In other words this means they cook the eggs on the grill with some water! I watched these cooks open an omelet on a serving plate. Then proceed to add uncooked spinach, close the omelet and flip it back over on the plate. I suppose the cook forgot to add spinach? I won’t even go into their breakfast sandwich issue. See my posted picture. When my sandwich came I didn’t realize there was no cheese. I asked to add cheese and the cook threw some cheese on top of the eggs. To make it a ham, egg, cheese, and toast breakfast. I can only give the waitress stars here for their hustle & good service.

Well, it doesn’t look like much on the outside. The menu says that it’s the oldest diner in Pleasant Hill, and it looks it. It’s when you come inside that you start to think that dis is gwanna be a grate meeal(misspellings intentional). We went for breakfast, which is highly irregular of us. Some family friends of ours(mom & daughter) are wait staff at Giant Chef, so we went when we thought they were working there to show them a little lovin’(they weren’t there, a huge disappointment). Well, let’s see how good their breakfast is. Me: build your own breakfast; I chose three scrambled eggs with bacon(bacon goes good with everything!). Hunny: chicken fried steak. Girl: oatmeal, go figure. I’ve had better eggs, although Tabasco sauce makes eggs taste better. The hash browns were fantastic, though, and the bacon was good, not the overcooked brittle stuff that breaks like a 78rpm record the moment you drop it. Girl: «I thought the oatmeal would be good, but it was the best I’ve ever had!»(such a drama queen) The hunny couldn’t finish her huge plate of breakfast. She’d eaten here with coworkers years ago, and told us on the way here that the food was very good. In and out for just under $ 30 cash(no cards accepted). We were at Giant Chef at 9:00 on a Saturday morning, and it was very busy. The indoors looks like a typical old greasy spoon without the grease: well kept, clean, down home interior. The wait staff was quite friendly, but we got an old timer who was nice all business, moved fast, not the type who’d take the joking around that I like to do. It’s good, serving good inexpensive comfort food, but make sure you have cash on hand.

Hot, fresh, variety food. Something for everyone. Always busy, cooked-to-order style, friendly and attentive staff. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of their garden salad. I ordered a simple grilled chicken breast and salad and it was divine! Highly recommend.

I love this place! Its eccentric, small, the food is awesome and the service is great! Now let me explain further. This place looks like a typical greasy spoon from the outside, and the décor inside may not meet some hipsters level of fine dining! But don’t be fooled by looks. There is more here than meets to eye. Its only open for breakfast and lunch and the servers are very experienced and helpful. The food is great and they provide a comprehensive menu of American diner fare, no frills just good food for a reasonable price. Portions are awesome. I have never had a bad meal here and have friends and family that love this place too. Give this place a try, its a hidden gem! p. s.–there is usually a wait on weekends, but its worth the time. Grab a newspaper or jump on your cellphone and be patient. It’s worth the wait.

Another(staycation) day, another diner! It was a beautiful day so we thoroughly enjoyed our spot on the covered patio. We started with coffee, which was refilled liberally. My honey ordered his breakfast without eggs. Our lovely server immediately turned to me and asked if I wanted them. I declined, since I was already getting two with my eggs benedict. Our food arrived promptly and my eggs benedict was so good! The eggs were cooked perfectly, with delicious runny yolks, and they definitely didn’t skimp on the ham, hollandaise, or the side of hash browns. Their hash browns are delightfully crispy. We experienced really great service, which was topped off by the fact that our server remembered us when we ran into each other grocery shopping, some 8 hours later. She saw my honey and said, «no eggs!» Bring cash.
