The more often I come to Sip & Savor the better it gets. John, the proprietor is a warm human being. His wine choices have always been good but the kitchen has reached the next level. Still casual and inviting. Just outstanding.

We love this place! We had the scallops and filet and both were fantastic! We have also tried the duck, and it was wonderful. The cheese plates are a fantastic starter, as well, and the brussel sprouts are a must try!!!

Best scallops I’ve ever had. They were huge and tasted very fresh. Wine was great and the service was unlike any other restaurant because it’s small and more personal. Definitely make a reservations & try this place out. I guarantee your expectations will be exceeded.

I’ve driven by this place many times and finally gave it a try this weekend. I’m sorry to say that I was pretty disappointed. The service was not great, and the food was only ok. Our server was not very attentive and never even asked if we wanted something to drink(which I found especially strange since the restaurant focuses on their wines). There wasn’t anything expressly bad about it, but I’d rather spend that money at an excellent restaurant rather than an average one.

Having lived in CA and having gone to Napa and Sonoma extensively over the past 4 years and loved it, I found this little gem was really excited. Great ‘about’ section on their site and thought that this may be the perfect place to have a romantic birthday dinner for my husband. I wish this place would let me come in and consult — they have such great potential but there are some glaring things that need to be addressed. Why I was disappointed(let’s start from the moment you walk in the door) –No hostess stand, greeter etc. You walk into this old cute house and there are 3 chairs against a wall, it feels like you are waiting to see a doctor, not entering a cute restaurant. I caught the server leaving the one room to make sure we were in the right place. He looked flustered as I said we had a reservation for 7:30pm(Sat night). He pointed to the second room and told us to take a seat. Where? Anywhere? He points to one table and we sit down. –AMBIANCE — This is a HUGE failure for this place. There are two separate rooms. We were seated in the back area near the fireplace(which had unlit fake candles in it). The lighting was an old CEILINGFAN. It was brighter than a classroom! No dimmers. They need wall sconces and table lighting(there was a fake candle on our table in a small jar but you couldn’t even see the light with how bright it was in there). –Décor — pictures of Napa on the wall, garland with Snoopy and the Peanuts crew stockings? What are you trying to be? The corner bookshelf with pasta and gifts is very reminiscent of what you would see in Napa, but everything else was not. I even like the touch of the antique floral plates, but be consistent in decorating. I don’t want to feel like I am in a kitschy trap. –For the price point which is reasonable but not cheap, I expect my server to be wearing something other than light jeans and an untucked polo. Crudo(at the same price point) has classy looking servers in all black. If I am going to drop $ 200 on a meal(which is very easy here when you add a bottle of wine, I expect a little more class. –Knowledge of the menu. I love ordering charcuterie boards at places that offer them, especially when those places boast they are farm to table. I asked the server for the tasting notes on the different cheeses, to which he replied that the cheese menu was new and he didn’t know. But he could tell me that everyone tends to order a particular couple of them. Hmmmm. Ok, well if you don’t know you should definitely have come onto your shift and asked, memorized. There are no specials to memorize(or we didn’t hear them), so 6 different flavors of cheese shouldn’t be difficult. –Service — He brought out olive oil/balsamic and no bread. We had to ask for separate bread to even try it since the bread that we had on our board was meant for pesto and cheese. We had brought a $ 100 bottle of wine to drink and he commented that he had never heard of the winery. Well considering there are roughly 600+ wineries in Napa/Sonoma, I’m sure we haven’t heard of many of them too. He could have said — is this a favorite? or excellent choice or lie. I don’t care, it’s just bad etiquette. –Seating/Layout — they need to take a couple more of the tables out in the second room(I didn’t see the first room enough to judge) so it feels more private. There were two other couples in the room and we could hear their entire conversation, which meant that nothing about ours was private either. While there was music on, it wasn’t in our room, so it just felt like you were at an awkward dinner party eavesdropping on strangers. I’d pay more to hear less. –Charcuterie board — While the presentation was well done, it was overall disappointing. The server came and pointed out the pecans(forgettable), olives(2), pickled veggies(these were awesome), 3 small cheeses in the middle, bread down the side and the meats(which we had added for $ 5 extra). What’s local– no explanation? When I inquired about only having 2 kinds of meat instead of 3, I could hear the server go into the kitchen to ask. One was the same version of the other but spicy. Since they were in two piles on our plate, that was not distinguishable. The price point was fine, but 2⁄3 cheeses were not memorable. What I DIDLIKE: — It’s unique! Better use of the space would make this place a hit. — The walnut pesto and blue cheese on the cheeseboard were awesome. The blue cheese was a variety with a texture I had never tasted and would have eaten triple the amount of. Excellent choice. — Corkage fee of $ 15. I normally would just buy a bottle of wine, but the bottle we had(which was not on the menu) had a particular memory attached to it for the occasion. Love that they give you the option. — Wine Menu — great selection, although it could use a few more bottles at the $ 40 – 60 price point. — Menu offerings looked great. Had the ambiance not killed the place for me, I would have liked to try their mains + dessert.

This was probably the best meal I’ve had since I moved to Dallas two years ago. The restaurant is situated in an old house off of Coit and we were sat in what looked like the original parlor, which was warm and cozy and had only a few small tables. My husband does not appreciate wine but he knows I do but he didn’t seem to mind the red blend that was recommended to us. We started off with the cheese plate, which has your choice of cheeses, fruit, nuts, and chutney — this was an amazing start! I ordered the chef’s special fish selection and my husband ordered steak. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly and the sides were thoughtful and perfectly portioned. The pace with which the food is served allows each course to be enjoyed without too much awkward space in between. We topped the meal off with a glass of champagne and a shared dessert. I felt like prices were spot on for the quality, portion, and level of service we received. Officially my new favorite date night spot!!!

Sip and Savor was an overall excellent experience. The food was delicious, great selection of wine, and the staff was very friendly and professional. My fiancé and I came here for our anniversary and it was the perfect setting.

We really enjoyed Sip and Savor. We made reservations for a Saturday night and were promptly seated. It is a house that is converted into a restaurant which gives the ambiance a lot of character. Our server asked us if it was our first time and we said it was, so he gave us a little background on the restaurant and wines. He allowed us to taste a couple of wines before selecting a bottle… wines were a little on the pricey side, but they had a good selection of offerings. We had previously read a review on the Fugazza so we started with that — the goat cheese and fig one — as well as a cheese and charcuterie board. The Fugazza was good, just like a flatbread. The cheese/meat board was beautiful. They gave you an option of savory or sweet pairings and we went with savory, so it had cheese, meat, pickled carrots, beets, pesto, olives, bread… all yummy stuff. The table next to us even commented that they were jealous they hadn’t ordered it. We were pretty filled up from those appetizers and planned on getting dessert, so we just shared an order of brussel sprouts instead of entrees. They were a tid bit underdone, but were seasoned well and still delicious. We finished with the Bread Pudding with butterscotch sauce and it was warm and gooey… so good. The only improvement I might have suggested is a scoop of ice cream with it. :) The fun part of the restaurant is how intimate it was. We were in the front room with two other tables of couples and ended up chatting with them for the whole meal. It was a very friendly place and a special experience that you don’t often find in the suburbs. We will definitely return and try some more tasty food.

I’ve been wanting to try Sip & Savor for months and we finally got around to it and celebrated my birthday there. DELICIOUS! The staff was incredible, even working with a friend from CA secretly ordering a bottle of wine to our table — they even wrapped it with a note! They went above and beyond. We sat next to the fireplace in the small intimate dining room. A very special dining experience. I’m excited to get a big group and sit in the large dining room. –We started with the pesto Fugazza which was incredible. By far the best flatbread I’ve had. Fluffy crust with delicious toppings. I wish I would have taken a picture to post but I was too into the flatbread and salad to think about it. Haha. –We shared the Sipnature salad which was huge and VERY flavorful. I loved that it was a typical wedge with far from typical flavors. –I had the Crispy Duck breast for my entrée which was done perfectly. He had the Ribeye which was also done perfectly to order. Very impressed with Sip & Savor and their wonderful crew. We will be back very soon! Can’t wait to sit in the outdoor patio and enjoy the upcoming fall weather. I highly recommend this adorable restaurant.

Such a great experience, I can’t say enough good things about Sip & Savor. This place is an absolute gem and we can’t wait to go back. The food was fresh and delicious… not drenched in sauces like some places, but prepared in a way to let the quality ingredients shine through. The wine list was very good and our server answered all of our questions and was very helpful. Make sure to make a reservation, it’s intentionally small and intimate!

Very tasty food. Found this gem on Unilocal after we were watching the series Chef’s Table on Netflix. This is probably the best farm to table restaurant in the DFW area. The atmosphere is very intimate. The restaurant is in a house that was built in the 1890’s from some of the first settler’s in Plano. The staff is friendly and not pretentious. They have an excellent choice of wine. Go if you want to rate good ingredients that are not overwhelmed with sauces. You get quality instead of quantity. Eat slow and savor the food…,

This place was everything I thought it would be, and much more! We had an amazing dinner, the food and wine were divine, as was our service. I would definitely come back again and again, and bring more friends. It reminded me a little of a restaurant in Austin, where I use to live. It is fun, unique, and the owners/employees will definitely make sure your visit is nothing but amazing. I’ve never written a review before on Unilocal, but this restaurant/wine bistro definitely deserves it. Bravo!

Thank you to John and Theresa. Every time we visit Sip and Savor we are met with the warmth of a family. The food and atmosphere are perfect for date night. Tonight we listened to Jazz music during dinner and then danced in the room upstairs after dinner. The wine selection is always excellent. Amizetta by the bottle or by the glass. It’s one of my favorite Napa wines. John always goes the extra mile to ensure we have a special evening. Thank you for great wine, great food and great fellowship!

Cute little bistro inside an old historic house. Everyone was very friendly, althoufh a bit slow, and food was pretty good flavors. I’ve had better tasting dishes before but for the experience it wasn’t bad. I’d recommend you try it at least once to decide for yourself.

Hidden gem in Plano! This house has been around my whole life and yours. Built in the 1800s, it’s a historical landmark in our area. I absolutely loved the food! The Scallop fettuchini was to die for(fresh, never frozen), and the wine was fabulous! Definitely returning for the filet mignon!

Something you would expect to find in uptown. This historic home was a pleasant surprise that provided some relief to the same old boring shopping plaza, Plano restaurants. The staff was very helpful with wine selections and item descriptions. The red wine blend was worth the $ 14 and the crab cake poppers were yum! For the entrée I ordered the scallops. Extra yum. They melted in my mouth, only thing was the heavy Alfredo sauce on the noodles did not compliment the meal. The potions were small and the prices were steep. I think it is worth it for the ambiance.

Sip and Savor is a little gem in Plano in an adorable historic house. This is the perfect spot when you want something different from the loud crowds at Shops of Legacy. I had a carb feast of risotto as my entrée and added the Mac and cheese side, plus finished off most of the bread. All my food was delicious and my friend had the Crab Louie salad which she also loved. Our waiter picked out a delicious wine and it was the perfect low key delicious birthday celebration I wanted. The only flaw is I got too full to try the new s’mores cheesecake!
