I’m a big fan of Torchy’s, BUT I’m not a big fan of their prices. Rusty taco is a different style of taco, much more authentic and for the price, you can’t beat it! I will most definitely be back. Great atmosphere and the tacos are awesome.

Another taco place in a land of plenty, but not one to try if you love tacos. Came here for the first time on Sunday and I was pleasantly surprised. Interior is warm and small, though with plenty of outdoor seating. Large communal type tables. The menu is simple but has plenty of options for everyones palate. My group ordered chips, queso, and guacamole to start. The basket of chips was more than enough for three people to share. They were nice and thin and very fresh tasting. No salt or any type on seasoning on them. The queso was pretty typical veering on the less«fancy» side of queso’s I’ve had, but very good with a little kick of heat. The guacamole was fresh and had nice bits of avocado and onion etc. more smooth than chunky. It could’ve used a bit more lime or salt possibly but I enjoyed it! I ordered a #2, #8, and #9 all on corn tortillas. First up was the #2. I thought this would be my favorite but it turns out it was my least favorite of the three. Not bad by any means, but lacking flavor. I wish there had been more cheese and pickled onions on it. I remedied the lack of flavor by using a lot of the delicious green salsa. The pork was tender but like I said it was really missing any kind of «taste». Wouldn’t get that one again. Next was the #8 which I loved! The cream sauce they use is fabulous and the shrimp wasn’t too heavily battered. A bit too much cabbage but nothing you can’t pick off. Lastly the #9 was another winner that I wasn’t expecting. The pork in that one was super flavorful and the combination of the grilled sweet pineapple with the slightly spicy pork was great. Was surprised they don’t double up on the corn tortillas like a lot of places do. Their tacos are not your super basic street style tacos, but less«intense» than say Torchys. If you’re in the mood for some simple tacos this is a great place to come. I wasn’t necessarily blown away with the food, but it deserves a 4 star rating in my book and I would come back here though it wouldn’t be my first choice. Service was friendly. The food took a long time to come out(wasn’t too many people there either) but it seems like they only have one or two guys making the food so it’s understandable. The bathroom floor was REALLY slippery after they cleaned it, and I almost fell! I told the girl at the register but I didn’t see her go back there and do anything about it…

We recently moved to Plano and still settling into our house so we decided to go out for dinner close by. We came across Rusty Taco and it was pretty dang good! Reminded me of torchy tacos but much better pricing… Tacos were great and loved the sauces. Only thing I did not like was how the tacos fell apart easily but we will definitely be back!

My friend’s know I love a breakfast taco and have been telling me that I needed to try this place. Why? Tacos are OVERRATED! Not seasoned, very bland. I ordered a variety to take back to the fam bam and we were all disappointed. Egg, Bean, Cheese-bland Egg, Bacon, Cheese-bland Brisket, Egg, Cheese-bland Sausage, Egg, Cheese-meh, best out of all of them, but still bland. Honestly, this place is far from legit and far from authentic when it comes to breakfast tacos. Don’t waste your time. The tortillas are thin and soggy, the food is bland, and the service is slow. We won’t be back.

I basically prefer flour but this corn tacos were pretty good! You can pick different ones out of over 10 different tacos. Another good thing was I could order the right amount. As I’m not a big eater, I ordered two tacos. I was so hungry that I didn’t bother taking pictures!(_;)

I am new to Unilocal and I recently started to write reviews to support location small businesses I have personally come in contact with that do a great job. What I can say about Rusty Taco is, if you haven’t had a great Brisket or Baja shrimp taco in a while, this is your place. These tacos are awesome.

It seems there are taco joints popping up all over the place. However, if you want a place where the tacos are ALWAYS good, I highly recommend Rusty’s or now I think its called R Taco’s. Don’t have a clue why they changed their name but the tacos are still excellent! Take your family and be sure to get chips and queso, you wont regret it!

5 tacos + 1 mexican coke + chips & queso. All of these under $ 20 for 2 people, pretty cheap. But in the category of trendy tacos, torchy tacos tastes much better! A good place to chill though.

Casual place for cheap tacos and margaritas. The tacos are ~$ 2.20 each and the selection is great. Favorites are Picadillo, Roast Pork, Shrimp, and Brisket.

Just like the other reviews mention, Rusty Taco is the same concept of taco joints like Torchy’s or Velvet Taco. The big difference is the price! And Rusty’s tacos are a little simpler and less creative but just as good. So underwhelming in a good way? For Example: Chips & salsa $ 1. They serve 13 kinds of tacos and a variety of breakfast tacos ranging anywhere from $ 2.20-$ 2.65. The tacos are the perfect size and overflowing with fresh ingredients. Counter service is fast and friendly with inside and outside picnic table seating, which is great for groups. Selling Point: Two people for under $ 10(no drinks), you really can’t beat that.

Rusty Taco is a hybrid of Torchy’s and Fuzzy’s with its own unique hipster flare. After trying most of the tacos off their menu, I felt like I paid too much for overly salty fillings and soggy tortillas. The concept reminded me of a much more simplified version of Torchy’s. Their specialities were the Baja shrimp and fried chicken tacos. There were no interesting sauces with the exception of the 3 salsas offered: green, red, and orange(habanero– the most spicy.) Their standard«Mexican» tacos didn’t have any flavor except salt. I was expecting some sort of spice to tickle my taste buds, but sadly, no tickling occurred. The brisket taco in particular was too chewy and soggy. I will say though, the one taco I enjoyed was the fajita breakfast taco. While I won’t frequent this place for their regular taco menu, I would order the breakfast tacos if I was in a pinch.

This place is now called R Tacos, a friend told me they changed the name because the owner died. I went with a few vegetarians, and there are two options on the menu that cater to them: the Rajas and the Black Bean. I tried both without cheese and they were actually really good, although I was skeptical about the roasted pumpkin seeds in the Rajas. I definitely suggest both! There were some pretty cool tidbits, such as $ 1 for a heaping portion of chips and red salsa. They also have three types of homemade salsa: a mild green, a medium red, and a fiery habanero sauce. The habanero was really sweet and super delicious, and tastes great on all the tacos. They also have some interesting desserts, such as a fried Apple taco that I wish I had tried but I’ll definitely be back for!

Ok, I heart tacos. But this is not news. Rusty Taco is all the things I like about tacos; — Affordable — Casual atmosphere — happy, pleasant, quick and attentive service — clean, bright, airy store — delicious, tasty fare — including build your own tacos! Can’t go wrong here, and I will be back!

Chicken fajita taco and steak fajita taco were the best out of the 4 we tried. I had the Piccadillo as well which tasted like corned beef hash and the fried chicken taco. Fried chicken taco wasn’t good to me. I loved the fajita ones and that’s what I will order when I go back. I like the patio area, it was nice. The employees were friendly and polite. I’d go back. It was yummy.

Great food. Guacamole and quest are tasty! The owner and staff are so friendly and helpful. We go there several times a week. When the kids are in town that this is the place they want to go and wish they had one where they live.

I try to hit Rusty Taco at least once every week or two. The place is clean and simple with long tables and stool seating. The menu keeps inline with the«simple» trend, tacos. But the tacos themselves are not simple. They have some of the most interesting tacos around, steak, fish, chicken, brisket, etc. They are made fresh and are absolutely amazing. The steak fajita taco is my favorite! The steak is warm and not overlooked with and onions and cilantro and fresh and flavorful.

My wife turned me on to this place, we love it! Where else can the both of us eat 2 tacos each with chips and salsa for around $ 10.00. This location has quick service and good food!.. Hey we even eat breakfast there… my opinion this is a great deal for taco, beats the crap out the major chain places…

Good cheap tacos and salsas. Feeding our family of 5 for $ 25 with good food makes this a frequent spot for us. We get the guacamole and salsa and 2 tacos each and are full. We love the breakfast tacos too! Good treat on the weekends.

I love the rusty taco on university! However, this location on coit is far below the bar. The service, and ppl are great.(This is only why they get as high as 3 stars!) The food is not though. I got my normal tacos.(Pork, brisket, grilled fish) the seasoning was straight up salt and pepper. Nothing further, when at other locations it was much better. I know rusty taco generally has much better flavor than what I experienced tonight!!!

Food is great. I wish the breakfast had something with beans not all eggs. The drink area needs a little clean up. I saw a girl behind the line texting then bag chips and wipe tables. No Gloves No hand washing.

The owner is super friendly. Great customer service. We ordered 2 beef fajita tacos, bbq brisket taco, beef brisket taco, fried chicken taco, and chips/salsa. beef fajita taco was the best out of what we ordered. We didn’t really like brisket taco. It was too much meat with not much of flavor. If you are looking for an authentic taco place, this place is not for you. But if you like to try americanized/fusion tacos, I would definitely recommend you to try this place. * Hot sauce is awesome! I think they puréed habanero lol. I love it!

Rusty Taco is the closest taco place in my neighborhood. Whenever I drive by around lunch or dinner time, this place gets pretty busy inside and outside. We went there for tacos(of course) this afternoon. Many kids were dining with their parents, so it must be a popular place for families. There is a very nicely-constructed patio outside with a spacious seating area. The staff is extremely nice, held the door open for us on our way in and helped clean up our table as we were leaving. We ordered a few tacos: chicken, grilled fish, and shrimp tacos, as well as the signature Rusty taco. Overall, the tacos were pretty good, not bad but not too great. Among the items we ordered, I would recommend the Rusty taco if you like spicy foods and the fried chicken taco for lots of flavor. The grilled fish and shrimp tacos were just okay. It seemed to me they reheated the seafood they had already cooked in bulk. If you’re a picky seafood eater, you may not be too thrilled. One item I normally order in other taco places is some kind of bean soup, like charro beans. But they don’t have any soup. I was a bit disappointed. Anyway, there are still many items on the menu, I may still come back and try.

This place is amazing! I could eat here every day! Amazing taste, very easy on the pocket book and great friendly service. Was visiting Frisco TX and looked on Unilocal for a Mexican food restaurant. This place has the most reviews, average of 4 star rating, SHOULDHAVE A SOLID5 star! Loved it!

Really disappointed. While I’m not really into this whole«gourmet, crazy toppings taco craze», I’ve had several yummy ones. Nothing really bad.. we’ll until now. Tried 3 types: Chicken Fajita: dry, almost inedible BBQ Brisket: passable, not worth going back Pork: shredded, dry, almost inedible, toppings were overpowering All three were on corn tortillas. Tasted microwaved… bleccchhh. Overall: this place is a few blocks from my house, and I have more chance of going to the post office to send an email than I have of returning here

My first impression was the bathroom, which was an unfortunate experience. It smelled soggy and damp, and the soap dispenser was broken off the wall. It laid awkwardly on top of the paper towel dispenser, like a sad puppy. I didn’t feel sanitary eating with my hands after washing my hands there. I ordered the fried shrimp and chicken tacos, which were just okay. They weren’t memorable, nor were the guacamole and queso. The queso tasted like it came out of a can and was already beginning to coagulate in the cup when we placed it on our tables. I’m a fan of Chipotle’s guac, and this didn’t even come close. Now the cashier was super cool and allowed us to get a half order of guac and queso to try(paid 1 full serving of queso), so I did appreciate that. She was also very upbeat and helpful. However, I would still drive to torchy’s next time I crave tacos, even if it’s another 15 min away.

Oh Unilocal, how I love that you never fail me. Many reviews on here advise newcomers to order the fried chicken taco. It’s in your best interest to heed this advice. Our overcoming love of tacos resulted in also trying the pork, ground beef & fajita chicken. Disappointment was nowhere to be found. We recently moved here and ALMOST rented an apartment within walking distance of Rusty Taco. I can only imagine how fat & broke we almost were… The $ 5 margaritas are light on tequila, but still very flavorful. Tacos also run under $ 3 allowing for a great meal on a reasonable budget(5 tacos, 2 margaritas & an appetizer = $ 25). Check out the patio, try all three salsas(pro tip: the red salsa that comes with the chips is the same red salsa available for free) & leave with a satisfied belly.

This is one of those drive-bys that turns into a favorite. I was starving one morning, figured they had breakfast tacos, and I pulled in to get some. They DO in fact have breakfast tacos and they are pretty much all delicious. Brisket/egg/cheese taco — My favorite! Juicy, tender brisket that’s still very flavorful. Delicioso! Bacon/egg/cheese — A little salty(the bacon is) but it works in the taco all together and you pretty much can’t go wrong with bacon. Potato/egg/cheese — An oldie but a goodie. Yum! Chorizo/egg/cheese — As with all chorizo items, this is super greasy. Like, drip all over your hands and whatever is underneath your mouth — so NOT car friendly. But? Tasty. Jalapeño sausage/egg/cheese — Nope. Just didn’t like it. Another time I stopped by craving some chips and queso. Their chips are actually pretty good. They’re not seasoned and very lightly salted, but because they make them there they have a good crunch. Their queso was… interesting. When it was piping hot and still liquidy it was good, but as it cooled it became pretty much inedible. Not my favorite thing. Also, the queso is SPICY so be warned. I am about to bribe the entire office with two dozen of these bad boy breakfast tacos, so if you see me rollin’ into this place in a few months in a Porsche, you know I got one hell of a promotion off these!

Went here for the first time today with my two friends after finding it through Unilocal. All together we got 2 black bean tacos, 2 chicken fajita tacos, 1 fried chicken tacos, and chips and salsa. Everything tasted great especially for the price. The only thing that we had a problem with was my sister is a vegetarian and she had gotten the black bean tacos. A taco and a half in she realized they had put brisket in it under the beans(which I’m pretty sure they don’t normally do). She was devastated and very upset. We told the manager and he apologized several times, refunded our whole meal, and gave her two black bean tacos without meat to go, and told us next time we came in it was on the house. Great customer service and great tacos. Will be back soon hopefully :)

I ABSOLUTELYLOVETHISPLACE! i personally think that they’re better than torchy’s tacos… they’re cheaper too(even though they’ve recently gone up 10 cents in price) and everything is made fresh in house… including all the chips and salsas! i’ve tried most tacos on the menu and my favorites are the fish taco — either fried or grilled, the brisket taco, and the fried chicken taco. they serve breakfast tacos all day too!!! i absolutely LOVE the brisket breakfast taco!!! they not only have red and green salsa — but they also make a habanero salsa which is extremely spicy!!! yum! chips are made fresh and the queso is amazing. why even buy salsa from the store when you can get fresh chips and salsa for only $ 1 at rusty’s?! they’re open super early in the mornings for breakfast and they’re always packed during lunch/dinner/weekends so you know it’s good!

Basic, simple, and small tacos for $ 2.50. That pretty much sums up this place. We tried their Fish(#7), Baja Shrimp(#8), Rusty(#9), Fried Chicken(#10), and BBQ Brisket(#11). Everything was pretty mediocre but I’m not complaining too much for the price. The shrimp was cooked nicely but the fish and the briskets were just ok. The rusty tasted so much like canned sardine that I couldn’t even finish it. The toppings were pretty repetitive as well. And b/c of the small portion size, I have to eat at least 5 – 6 tacos to be satisfied. Again, mediocre experience overall. Not a bad place to grab a quick lunch but if I want some real tacos, I would go to Torchy’s.

Great selection of tacos. They are a little smaller than some of the other competitors, but quick and priced well. I’ve been here a few times and the food is nothing to complain about. The breakfast goes H.A.M and you have to get chips and salsa. One thing to note: The service can be poor. I don’t why. Maybe it’s their inexperience, lack of customer service or attentiveness(all of the abode). Since I love taking care of my team at work, you’d think after spending $ 60-$ 100 each time I visit(to-go), they’d offer something to drink while I wait(only one person). Instead they say you have to pay. Can’t I get a break? I just wanted coffee.
