How have I not been here in the 15 years I’ve lived here? Salad, bread, fried pickles, steak, ribs. Sooo good. And perfect service. Will be back.

A favorite dish of mine here is the Friday special fried fish. You can actually get it any day and the last time we went on a Sunday it was very good. My companion’s pot roast was good too. This is all well and good but this restaurant has one major drawback… TURNTHEGODDAMNMUSICDOWN!!! I don’t know why it is that every restaurant we go to nowadays feels like it’s necessary to blare music, usually loud annoying pop music, at its customers. Schlotzskys, Arbys, Jasons deli, Urban Eatz, you name it. It’s as if the American Restaurant Association sent out a memo to its members to crank the tunes. I’m a musician. I play and listen to music loudly quite often so I’m no fuddy duddy. But seriously it’s not Gas Monkey Grill. It’s Black Eyed Pea. It is a home cooking style restaurant that caters to the older crowd and I expect peace and quiet when I eat there. Blasting loud pop music isn’t gonna bring in the young hip crowd, its just gonna run off your current customer base, proved by recent BEP closures. If I walk in there again and the music is cranked, I’m turning around and walking back out and probably won’t return.

Blackeyed Peas food has really gone downhill the past few years. Blacked catfish is terrible! Also, this location has the SMELLIEST bathrooms I’ve EVER smelled. GROSS! When I went in the restroom, I wanted to throw-up and then I lost my appetite!!!

Foods are so so but service was bad. The hostess has no greeting or whatsoever. The waiter flipped my friend’s onion rings to everyone’s plate, needs a hearing aid probably(or because he was watching TV while we place our orders), messed up our checks, forgot things we asked… I don’t think we would come back

Black Eyed Pea is yet another once hot casual dining spot that seems to be dying a slow death. Much of the demise of casual dining has been blamed on millennials diversified taste. The problem is Black Eyed Pea plays it safe, too safe perhaps. They stick to old school homestyle food, and southern favorites. Think meatloaf, chicken fried steak, roast turkey, etc. While what’s offered in and of itself is dated, even the physical menu lacks the sort of graphic design one is accustomed to now. As stated before, many places seem to have a problem attracting younger diners. Let’s put it this way, I’m a Gen X’er and I was by far the youngest parton in here. Black Eyed Pea seems to be a refuge for seniors wanting to avoid self pay tablets, yankee food, and pretty much anything that existed before the Clinton era. As for the food, I had some sort of pepper crusted roasted breast of turkey. There’s wasn’t a whole lot of pepper but again this is dullsvilles. The turkey was just a bit dry, but overall tasty, and the gravy was good. Cornbread dressing was excellent, as were the cinnamon apples. The waiter seemed to have trouble getting my tables order right, but the manager here is a really affable and struck up a great conversation.

Waited and waited. Bad customer service. Do not come here. The food is probably horrible from looking at the outside of the restaurant. I wouldn’t come back here if my life depended it.

I’m giving them five stars because of the manager. I had a dish that I specifically went there to eat because it was something I was craving. I placed my order and about ten minutes later they come out and tell me that they didn’t have any of it left and that I would have to order something else. I was disappointed but not a huge deal, I picked something else. When the bill arrived the manager had comp my entire meal because they didn’t have what I had originally ordered! It was such a nice surprise and something that really wasn’t necessary, however it made my day and I will definitely come back to this restaurant and recommend it to friends and family. Thank you!

Good food. Good prices. I’ve order to-go twice now, and have had good experiences with both. My new favorite is the fried green tomato blt. Really good. My wife and i got 2 meals, came with fries for both, and the rolls and cornbread. For $ 16. Thats not half bad knowing i could easily spend twoce that amount at most places for the same amount. Not a mind blowing, world changing place. But if you want an honest opinion, its good food, good prices. Enjoy.

For me this is like a step up from cafeteria food. It isn’t bad but at the same time it isn’t great. I wish they had more healthy options with calorie counts. There are not very great healthy, and low calorie options, which is a drag! My dad likes their meatloaf, rice and beans and squash casserole. I’m not a fan

Took the family for some Black Eyed Pea today. We received our drinks first, which tasted like garbage. I had the sweet tea and my wife had a Dr Pepper. I guess the water filter is no good because both tasted bad. After ordering it took a very long time to get our food. Apparently they had a big call in order according to our waiter. Once we finished our meal our waiter passed by our table 8 or 9 times before finally allowing us to pay so we could leave. Due to all this we were there a long time. All in all I would say it was a bad experience and we won’t be going back. I don’t like to complain, most of my reviews are positive, but this establishment was very disappointing today.

The food here is good. The problem with this location is there is only one waiter for the entire restaurant the night we got there. What made it upsetting is that we both just ordered salads. SALADS… Does it really take 30 minutes to put some lettuce onto a plate and serve it. Straight SALAD. No MEAT. so nothing to cook. You are better off ordering in advance and getting to go if you want something here. To management: Hire more people or watch us just go somewhere else.

Co-workers lunch. Nothing good at all. Service was terrible took an hour to get our food. Not really busy at all. Waitress said the computers were down and that’s fine, except our food was super cold. Spoke with the manager and she said the computers were fine and wasn’t sure what happened. I will not be coming back.

This place deserves 10 stars!!! Stopped by to get a togo lunch on Saturday at noon. So I order a veggie plate which means you get any 5 veggies from a huge list. So I order fried corn on the cob, macaroni, blackeyed peas, carrots, mashed sweet potatoes. Now mind you this combo is phenomenal! I’m in a blissful food coma. Did I mention FRIED corn on the cob!!! Sweet Jesus I’m in love oh and got an order of chesse sticks for my dogs they are in love too!!! Also service was fast and excellent.

This is the first time I’ve had food actively try to kill me. By that, I mean we ordered a meal for pickup. Quoted 20 minutes — arrived at 15 minutes, had to wait another 20 minutes. Got home, tried to eat the meal. I took one bite of the turkey. It was like biting into sand. It was so dry that I actually choked on it, despite pouring a bunch of gravy on it and being a small piece. Bad enough that I choked badly enough to require a heimlich. I can’t say I’ve ever had a meal try to kill me before. If I could give –5,000,000,000 stars, I would. There is no way possible anybody could ever justify serving this shit as «food». This was charcoal that had been reheated about 50 times. I’ve been here plenty in the past, and the food ranged from«…well, it’s … it’s chewy, and might have nutritional value» to «it sort of tastes like meatloaf». I only wish I could say I was making this up.

This place caught my attention by the name. In my head for some reason, I thought it was a Funky Dive Joint with Southern Grub. Damn was I wrong. It was like a place the Golden Girls would love to meet and it at. Like a Cracker Barrel minus the store but add a bar. Don’t get me wrong. The food was excellent. It had a large variety of dining options and most of them had a Southern Home Cooking twist. They seemed to have a full service bar as well. I had house salad and cheesy broccoli soup with a side of corn bread. YUMM! On this visit, I have to say i thought I think they had their heat cranked or I am was suffering through a menopausal hot flash. Either way I had to go to the restroom and strip off my sweater and shirt and just wear my tee shirt. It was Steamy in there. The waitress was really friendly and attentive. She checked on us quite a few times and was on the ball with refills. I think their seasonal dessert was deepfried pumpkin pie. HELLO! Pumpkin Pie… Deepfried. WOW! Enough said. I will go back for sure. It has nothing to do with the band lol Just sayin

I really enjoy this place and my mom and I have been coming here for years, we used to do the new years day thing every year because you get a tiny dish of black eyed peas to start the year off right! Now it’s just good food for a good cost. My mom loves their homemade meatloaf, I love their chicken fried steak. All of their sides are great, and you really can’t go wrong. I’ve also always had consistent service and it’s always clean and the portions are good. If you like Black Eyed Pea, this is a great place to go.
