If anyone knows the contact information for store owner Jennifer McCoy, please message me. I want to take her to small claims court. We’re only talking about a couple hundred dollars, but she shouldn’t be allowed to get away with ripping off our community. I, too, took a truckload of furniture to The Exchange for consignment and was stonewalled for months about payment. When I drove by and saw that the building was empty, it just made my blood boil. I really wish I had read the reviews here before doing business with that woman.

«THE EXCHANGE» consignment store in Pleasant Valley CA — consignors beware. I left a truck-​load of merchandise, designer clothes, boots, shoes, backpacks, computer printers, furniture, kitchen items, military uniforms and collectables (I had recently returned from my deployment to Afghanistan) — and some antique pieces for consignment in August 2014 — owner Jennifer McCoy has NOT paid me for the dozens of items she has sold. I had to get the El Dorado Sheriffs department involved when I tried to pick up my remaining property 90 days after she took it in — and she did not return all of my items but kept many of them. The Deputy was supportive and said my only recourse was to take her to court which I plan to do. DO NOT leave your goods for consignment — you will not get paid!

WOW! I am starting to see a pattern here. I have been taking clothes here since Feb and heard many complain about Jennifer, the owner but I usually have had good luck with her. However, today was a sign that she must have been on PMS.
I called multiple times wanting to pick up my money and would make arrangements prior to stopping by. The past four times, she was never there and her employees would always tell me she didn’t leave any money behind and I would have to come back to see Jennifer. I finally caught up with her today and she started raising her voice saying I need to quit calling and that she had donated all my clothes. I found it interesting because I noticed several item sitting in a pile with my name on the tags, some of them removed. When I called her out on it, she started cursing me in front of her customers and told me to leave and never come back. As I took what little clothes I could find, she called me a foul name, locked her door and turned her sign over saying she was closed, yet she still had customers in her store shopping. I need to mention that I never received my money.
How can I leave many items, including a $ 100 leather jacket and not get any money nor find my jacket. She had the nerve to say: «what leather jacket». I guess it’s a good thing I still have the contract we both signed and I have an inventory list of items received by her from me in her hand writing.
I guess she will need to be taught a lesson and go through small claims court and maybe forced to closed this store.
I highly recommend you stay away!

The owner of this business is the WORST I have ever encountered. She is rude, uses foul language, and has not a clue about how to run a business. Her accounting methods are suspect at best, I have never seen a business as poorly managed as this. Do not take your merchandise here! The absolute worst ever!

I have worked in retail and with the public for over 25 years, and have been taught that the rule of thumb is to «always keep your customers happy and treat them with respect.» The owner of this business is horrible. She not only is dishonest, she is rude, mean and verbally abusive. Please think twice before you do business with this woman!

Do not do business with this merchant! If your just shopping the store is fine but do not take merchandise for consignment there! Very questionable accounting methods!
