I want to start off by saying that I went to this store today but I didn’t buy anything and I will explain why. The day I am writing this review is 12/07/2014 which is the exact same day I went to visit this particular Hallmark on Cochran road which is sort of near the Dormont area in Pittsburgh. As of this day I have written over 300 reviews in about 6 months time. I’ve been a member of Unilocal since March of 2014 officially but not written my first review until the summer. This will only be the 4th one star review I am handing out and believe me when I say I do not just give out one star reviews. I have to actually be appalled by the service or business to hand out a one star review since previously to this review, they made up for less than 1 percent of my total reviews. This however as far as I am concerned greatly deserves the one star not for 1 reason but rather for 2. For the past 2 days my wife and I have been going all around Pittsburgh as we do several times a year to eat, shop and be merry in this merry time of year it’s even more special. We do our own shopping, our Christmas shopping and we mix in some good eats as well because well we enjoy that very much. This trip much like last year we’ve gone to a variety of Hallmark stores because well we are all over the city at various malls and restaurants and we also want to buy our Christmas ornaments for ourselves and we give them as gifts. Well this year sort of like last year Hallmark has a coupon on their national website that is a promotion for saving 5 dollars on your purchase of 10 dollars or more. One stipulation they have on the coupon is that it is intended for one customer per visit. This was the first time we had ever gone to this particular store. Yes I had intentions on buying one and my wife the other. We were in total purchasing 20 ornaments but we were all going to different stores and on different days. We want to use the coupon 20 times hell yes. That’s 100 dollars off. It is not as if I’m going to one store buying one, going to the car and coming back in and using another coupon or trying to and repeating the same process. In a span of two days we’ve been to Moon, Cranberry(2 stores), Robinson, Canonsburg, Castle Shannon, etc. We were all over the place as far north as Cranberry and as far south as Washington county not only for the Hallmark stores but for everything and I was just fitting the Hallmark stores in between. So my wife and I attempt to purchase one ornament each from this store on Cochrane and the attendant looking after my wife actually asked her to CUTTHECOUPONOUT of the printed letter sized paper that was printed on. She actually gave my wife scissors so she could cut the coupon out. Why??? Is this in an attempt to demean her? The attendant looking after me told me that I cannot use the coupon for ornaments. No where on the coupon does it say that ornaments are forbidden from being used. I point that out to her, the employee that was helping my wife actually said the same thing but now the person looking after me basically just refused to honor this coupon on Hallmark’s NATIONAL website. Basically she said their store is not a «Participating store». Well to me if that is the case and she arbitrarily decided to go against a national promotion. The employee that asked my wife to cut the coupon out was actually going to honor it but the one helping me did not so since neither of them were going to honor this coupon we ended up leaving. This Hallmark is listed as «Emily’s» and not a «Laurie’s» like almost all the others we’ve been to in the last 2 days. Let me say that Emily’s it definitely not Laurie’s. All the Laurie’s stores we’ve been to in the past two days while touring the greater Pittsburgh area have all been especially kind and friendly. This one Emily’s was demeaning, rude and refused a promotion from Hallmark national website. If you’re going to represent your company and you’re in fact a «Greeting card store» be more cheerful and less confrontational. I cannot remember in my lifetime the number of times I was actually offended to the point that I had to just leave a store before I said something not nice. Horrible, horrible customer service and definitely the poorest representative of the Hallmark name most likely in all of Pittsburgh and yes I have been a lot in the last few days that I can say that. TIP: If you have a promotional coupon from the Hallmark website, save your time, energy in going to this location and go to one of Laurie’s stores. This place shouldn’t be a Hallmark if they won’t honor coupons EVERYOTHERSTOREDOES.

This Hallmark store is a little smaller than its sister in Whitehall’s Caste Village Shoppes and doesn’t seem to carry as many trinkets, but She does have one ace in Her purse… A candy counter! No lie. A glass case is full of chocolates from Philadelphia candies of Hermitage, PA sits against the cash register. I don’t know about you, but I may be comin’ here more often, and not just to buy Mother’s Day cards. Love you, Mum!
