OneGuard Home Warranties

I have had One Guard for only 1 year so far and am amazed at how wonderful and helping they have been to me. In one year’s time I have had my washing machine break down, my carpet needed cleaning, and a plumbing issue with a toilet. Each contractor they sent me was outstanding, wonderful and very professional and eased my mind about each repair/​job that needed to be done. They are always there for me, and don’t transfer me, or put me on hold, and they take the time to answer all my questions. I breathe easier now knowing I have such a wonderful company for Home Warranty Protection.

Frustrating beyond belief! AC unit went out on Sunday afternoon, had a contractor out Monday afternoon THREE times the contractor came out, he never checked our thermostat or temperature coming out of our vents and he didn’t dare set foot inside our attic. Requested to have another company come do service, One Guard would not allow that. Replaced our compressor Thursday afternoon, gave it 24 hours to cool down NEVER reached below 80 degrees and the unit doesn’t shut off. Called one guard on Friday night was promised to receive a call back from a «specialist» to assist us in the morning. … never received! Called again Saturday afternoon expressing the incompetent contractor they sent out and requesting another company. Another company set up an appointment for us for MONDAY! We have poor to NO AC in our home for over a week in 110 + degree temperatures in AZ. This is unacceptable!

I live in Katy, Texas… just west of Houston. As a realtor, I hear good and bad about home warranty companies. Since choosing One Guard, I have been 98% pleased. The home office staff is professional and well trained in the product.
The home warranty company my real estate firm is affiliated with (which I will not mention) I will not recommend to any of my clients… mainly because the area representative ignored my request with two different clients to discuss the plan with them.
One Guard has contractors who know their jobs and are prompt in responding. Another very good thing is that the contractors are happy with the relationship they have with One Guard.

Sunday night was the third hottest night ever in the Phoenix metropolitan area. A night that my air conditioner went kaput. I called One Guard knowing that they would be inundated only to learn it was the busiest night in their many years of business.
Chris, in their call center returned my call due to an overheated city of non-​working air conditioner units. I was so happy that I didn’t have to stay on hold for ever and had them call me back. Their response was terrific.
I had Qual-​Tech (thank you, John) arrive the following morning and replace the dual capacitor that broke for the low service fee using One Guard. Yes, Sunday night was difficult to exist, but I am one happy camper and back in the cool and will be a One Guard customer for life.

Hands down the best Home Warranty Company I have ever worked with. Being the owner of My Home Group, Krisha takes care of all of our agents. And, I am also a client. When I purchased my home, there was an issue with the dryer the first week. No questions were asked, they were out within one day and the problem was solved. The seller guard program is wonderful for sellers who currently have their home listed for sale. They come out and perform a pre-​inspection which is great for the seller so they are aware of any issues that might need to be repaired before a potential buyer ever walks through the door and the best part, the home is covered in case something does happen while its listed. The coverage is above and beyond what other warranty companies cover. The customer service has been fantastic and all of my clients have been extremely happy with them. Camille Johnson has been wonderful to work with, she is very quick to respond to anything that I might need. Keep up the great work Camille!

I’m a Realtor and refer One Guard 30 – 40 times a year. While nobody is perfect, I’ve found them to be reasonable and easy to work with. Another nice thing is that they are local. Most other warranty companies are headquartered in other parts of the country and I’ve felt lost in the shuffle. Because One Guard is located in Phoenix, I’ve found their response times and contractor partnerships to be better than competitors.

Absolute garbage. I was so upset with these guys after I did some research I realized they’re not even BBB accredited. Repeatedly when I had issues on the weekend their response is «our vendor’s arent open on the weekend», which we all know crap, most of these guys are on call ²⁴⁄₇. The guy they sent out to fix my oven at Appliance Techs of Austin (who I can’t seem to find to do a review so I’ll write it right here) was an unprofessional and rude jackass. He came out to fix my oven cause there had been a gas leak. He said he could not fix the issue because legally what was wrong only the Gas Co. Could fix. Fine. Called out the gas company, they said they’re not responsible, only a plumber could fix this. I called the warranty and banned the original contractor and the company from entering my home again. Oh and buy the way when they set up the new service order for the new guy to come out, they messed up on the order, so when I didn’t hear from the new contractor yesterday and called this morning, I was not completely shocked when they said they hadn’t received the work order, so couldn’t come out until tomorrow. The only reason someone MIGHT come out today is because I placed a formal grieveance w/​a supervisor at the home warranty and let them know they need to change some policies, and I would no longer be using their services, would not be renewing and would by no means recommend them to anyone, unless I hated that person.
A long story short, it will likely take about a week for anything to get done that you call in. They «guarantee a 4 hour response time», do not let this wording fool you. What this means is the contractor will CONTACT you within 4 BUSINESS HOURS. There is not guarantee you issue will be fixed within 4 hours.
A scam.

Do not use this firm. 3^rd decline on major claim: water pipe leak, pool pump and AC. Bottom of barrel for service companies. Save your money and choose another. They don’t even have courtesy to call you when they decline, rather the companies who come to check things out do it instead and that’s after you’ve called both one guard and service company.

I am impressed with One Guard Home Warranty and the seller’s coverage with certified 100 + point inspection. I think this will be a valuable tool in getting our listing sold. The customer service has been great thus far and the Account Executive Camille Johnson has been very easy to work with!

Great customer service and very attentive to my buyers. I love the rekey service and think that’s a great idea and service for my new buyers.

The system is broken — every time their repair fails you pay additional fee for them to show up and try again. It seems more profitable for them to fail to repair the issue than to succeed, because they get paid every time they show up, so one issue may take 5+ attempts… you pay every time. At the end of the one year we had with them the total repairs cost more than hiring a repair man from the open market, where there is competition and they have incentive to perform. Unless something MAJOR breaks it’s useless to pay them for crappy repair when you could get the best …

Thank you One Guard for saving me from total devastation! The day I got my key to my new (13 year old) house, I put a load of clothes into the washer and left to pick up another load of things for the house. As I drove into the garage, I saw a waterfall spilling into the garage. Two hours later, as I finished cleaning up the flood, I tried to dry my clothes. The dryer would not even come on. Thank goodness I had One Guard and Natalie on my side. My washer will be replaced (it is totally gone) and the dryer will be repaired tomorrow. Thank you Thank you Thank you

I’m singing praises of my preferred Home Warranty:
At 2pm, my client called to ask if I knew of a locksmith who could help her change her locks TODAY because she was being stalked. So, on the phone I got with OneGuard because they provided a rekey service. I explained the importance of getting the job done today. Otherwise, I’m more than happy to call other locksmiths. And that I understood it was last minute. Customer service immediately put me on hold, called the locksmith and said yes, it will be done by 5pm.
1 hour later, at 3pm — my client texted me that her locks have been changed and she felt much better now.
So, this is a reason why we should let Buyer’s agents choose their preferred Home Warranty companies. They have built business relationships with their reps who can take care of them immediately.
(In the past, some sellers & seller’s agents force buyers to use their preferred company in which I have responded — When I have an emergency and needed to depend on the relationship to take care of an issue immediately, could I call you then?)
OneGuard is 3:16 team REALTY’s choice of home warranty. We don’t get a penny for them for referring them. But because they do the right thing by their clients. Always. I’m proud to be associated with them.
The review is getting long. But I can share stories after stories of how they care and do good work. Not having to bounce around, sharing my situation with Customer Service (like what AT&T does to you) helps alot too. They hire Customer Service with a brain!

Don’t waste your money! They have let us down multiple times, wish we would have requested refund immediately!
They offer a free re-​keying service, our house already came with locks that you can rekey yourself, however after moving in and rekeying the locks per their instructions we noticed that top bolt was sticking, repair for that was not covered.
We adjusted our hot water connection on our washing machine, the pipe easily bent and stopped working, we called for repair, plumber they sent had conversation with one guard that came to conclusion this was not due to wear and therefore would not be covered.
They should be sued for false advertising, pretending to have your back. What a waste! Cancel and get a refund while you still can! I’m convinced they will find an excuse to not repair anything.

We’ve recently switched over to OneGuard and love it. I think the service is really good and the prices are right. We’ve been recommending their service to our clients ever since.
I love that they are able to rekey the house and tune up your ac.

I have used many home warranty companies in the past and I must say, One Guard Home Warranty had continue to exceed my expectations in so many ways. They are responsive and prompt to my questions, concerns and so much more. I have referred One Guard to all of my buyers and they love them, unlike the other companies out there who uses inferior trades. I seldom have to call One Guard back because the trades they had sent out did a bad job.
If you ever need to pick a home warranty company, you should try them. Trust me on this.

I’ve been using OneGuard ever since I purchased my home back in November of 2009 (back when they were called Service One). My primary reason for purchasing their warranty is because I’d rather have to shell out a monthly fee than have to deal with an unexpected four-​figure expense from the result of something breaking down. The AC, above all else, has always been my biggest fear.
I’ll start with the good. Whenever I need help, someone always contacts me by the next business day. And there have been several instances over the years where I’m thankful that I have the warranty. I had a water heater go out a few years ago, which was eventually replaced with a new one after a couple of visits. I’ve also had a few mechanical issues with my AC. Each time, I paid for nothing beyond the regular service fee to have everything fixed. I also used them to get a discounted deal on a carpet cleaning at one point. No problems whatsoever.
Since the businesses that are connected to OneGuard are usually smaller companies, your customer experiences will vary. I’ve had some technicians come out that were extremely rude, while others were very polite and professional.
One summer, I had my AC breakdown and when the technician came out to diagnose it, his «supervisor» told me that he’d return with the part in 1 – 2 days to make the repair. They ended up postponing my appointment for five days, saying that another situation came up that required their immediate attention. I guess being without AC in 115 degrees is not a concern for them? I had to stay in a hotel for a total of five days. I decided to e-​mail customer service, explaining what had happened, and justifying why I felt the repair company treated me poorly. Amazingly, One Guard actually fully compensated me for the five days I had to stay in the hotel.
Now, for the bad. Not everything is going to be covered, so be prepared that if you have specific issues with say, your washing machine front control panel, there’s no guarantee that they’ll be able to fix it. For example, I had a knob crack on the front panel of my dryer, which was not covered because it wasn’t «mechanical.» I had to shell out over 200 dollars out of pocket to have it fixed myself, which I was none too pleased about. I also had to shell out 740 dollars to replace the zone control board of my AC unit, because my warranty doesn’t cover zone control. This was probably the most upsetting out of all of my denied repairs, because it turned out that the company didn’t even diagnose the issue correctly. I had to recruit an outside diagnosis, which revealed that the incompetent technicians misdiagnosed the problem and charged me for an out of warranty repair that was completely unrelated to the actual problem. This has me questioning the competency of these Mom and Pop outfits that One Guard works with.
Another annoyance, which is probably my biggest issue, is that they keep raising the prices, using the old «cable company» tactics of slowly upping their fees in hopes that no one will notice/​care. My most recently proposed contract for 2016 claims the service fee jumped from 59 dollars to 69 dollars. Seriously?! And yet, as far as I’m aware, there’s absolutely no benefit to the customer in terms of expanding the coverage. Just more money in their pockets with a lame «cost of living» excuse that is obviously nothing more than corporate greed.
They are, however, very good about making sure they take my monthly fee out of my bank account every month like clockwork. No problems there, that’s for sure!
In the end, I think all of these warranty companies are more or less the same, so whether you prefer to use One Guard or one of their competitors is entirely your choice.
