Our AC went out on the hottest day of the year. We called around to several places and American Cooling and Heating was the first one to say they could come out the same day, in a few hours. They said they would call right back to confirm and after an hour we called them to confirm. After waiting 4 hours for them to come we called to see where they were and got no answer. No one ever showed up and no one ever called us to let us know, leaving us in a 94 degree house at 11 p.m. trying to figure out what to do as the temperature continued to increase. I understand if you’re busy and you can’t make it out, but please let us know so that we’re not waiting around and at least follow up that you’re not coming. Unbelievable.

During the heat of summer, our air conditioner stopped working and we gave American Cooling a call. They were able to come out the same day. After inspecting the unit, the tech indicated that a new compressor or motor would be required. Based on the cost of repair and the age of the unit, we elected to have a new unit put in. The company was easy to deal with and the new unit was installed a few days later. So far so good. Several months later the unit stopped cooling. A tech came out and diagnoised the issue, but wasn’t able to address until later — We were really pleased because it was after dark and he still came back and took care of it. Based on the initial and subsequent service, we were planning on a 5 star review. However we just had a home energy audit done and the gentlemen who did the audit told us that the way the seal was made between the unit and the return was very poor and we were loosing a lot of our cool air to the outside. On the face of it, they did a good job, but their attention to detail was lacking, costing us what probably amounted to quite a bit in electricity. They’re getting 3 stars because they did fix the main problem, and their response time was good. Two stars removed for the workmanship.

The Good: The dispatcher was very friendly and tried to help me out as much as he could. 5 stars for him The Bad: The tech his name was Sean came over and gave us a quote on a blower motor(that was under warranty) and said it was $ 700 in labor for a half days work. We said were gonna get another quote and he became rude and said he wouldnt come back if he left. So we got another quote and everyone said this guy is hosing me by about $ 600. We got two quotes for $ 100 and another for $ 300. I now have a guy fixing it within one hours time for $ 100. Way to hire the winners here! I will make sure to warn everyone about this company
