I love this place. The quality isn’t near as good as some more upclass mexican restaurants but that’s pretty much the standard unless you’re willing to drop some extra cash. I like the environment, it’s usually not very crowded, and the waitress takes good care of you. The food is good. I haven’t had a dish I did not like. The drinks are good as well. No complaints, good experiences, good food, and well priced.

Don’t judge a book by it’s cover. Camino is secret treasure. The décor is dated and seen better days, but if you want good service and great food, this is the place. Our waitress was very efficient and courteous. The food was great. Salsa that has lots of flavor and heat!!! The guacamole was the best I’ve had in my entire life. And if you think taco shells should be thick and crunchy, you have to try the tacos here. The shells are incredibly thin and crisp, but they don’t crumble like those cardboard shells in a box. The kitchen was fast and totally accurate, nothing missing, nothing incorrect. Did I mention the prices? If you have a big family or live on a tight budget, the prices will impress you. We’ve been here twice in the last year and we will be coming back. The food was excellent. Just needs to do a little redecorating. But don’t judge this book by it’s cover, or you will be missing out on great food and service.

Here’s the deal. It’s a little dirty looking, they definitely microwaved my plate on my last visit but some of the items are okay. Cheap food– you get what you pay for, and have to find the gems of the menu! I ordered a combo plate that was supposed to come with corn tortillas and fresh guac– the gal didn’t bring the corn tortillas or guac and failed to come back to our table for about 10 minutes or so. When I went back by the bar to find her, I asked her if she could check to see if my tortillas and guac were back there. Perhaps it was just overlooked… We were the only folks in there but… You never know. She then returned a few moments later with tortillas and spoiled, sliced avocado. She let me know they were out of guac. If you’re bringing me avocado; spoiled or not, you can’t throw pico and lime and squish it up a bit in it and call it a day? Thought that was a little shotty. I didn’t eat the guac. Nope. Go for the crunchy beef tacos. Those are pretty good and really cheap. I’m doing two stars for them because they need to get their shit together. I feel bad for them, they’re never packed. Take a hint maybe? Always friendly service(FRIENDLY, didn’t say great!!) and that’s what they’re getting the two stars for. That and the crunchy beef tacos.

I’ve lived in Pflugerville for just over a year and every time we drive past, the place is empty. Even on Friday nights. There must be a rich uncle somewhere funding this restaurant. No idea how it’s still open for business. Never once eaten there, walked in once took one look and left.

Staff was friendly, that was about the only good thing. Restaurant itself is worn down and dirty inside. Hand written signs hung up everywhere, slowly peeling away from the walls shows how long they’ve hung. Chipped paint on walls and just an overall feeling of dingyness. Food arrived on a cold plate and was just blah. We ordered a Chile Relanno. #23. Just lacked flavor nothing great at all. Will I be back? No.

Weapons-Grade Mexican Food. How this place continues to stay in business is amazing. I got a combo plate with a cruddy taco with stale shell and wilted, brown lettuce and diced tomato that looked like it was harvested during the Carter administration. The taco meat was dry and mealy. The enchiladas looked and tasted like an industrial frozen product that had been microwaved and plopped out onto a plate. The slasher movie that was playing on TV near our table completed the ambiance of this horrifying dining experience.

We had some time to kill and hungry… in the neighborhood and decided to give it a shot. Sit anywhere you’d like and they have a bar. Waitress was nice, took our drink order and chips/salsa came quick. Salsa was super spicy… good flavor but little hot for me. Placed our order, I ordered beef fajita chimichanga and my wife ordered 3 cheese enchiladas rice/beans. Food arrived, looked good Cut into my chimi… was ground beef instead of beef fajita… I was pretty hungry so I told the waitress but kept it. It was ok, it was handmade, not frozen or pre made. A lot of extra peppers and onions I wasn’t expecting in the«gravy» but not horrible. My wife’s enchiladas were… not horrible. I think the enchilada sauce was the issue. I used a tortilla and tasted the sauce and was put off. Not sure what it was but it wasn’t great. Rice and beans were just, blah, no seasonings. Tea was good. It was warm inside the restaurant too… even another patron said the same thing… not sure why, they had ceiling fans on but not helping. All in all, won’t be returning to this restaurant again. Thumbs down, best parts were tea and service.

I was worried when I looked up the place as we got there. There are a ton of negative reviews. My worries were quickly put to sleep. The service was great and the food was awesome. I can say this is much closer to REALMEXICAN food than it is TEXMEX. Most the reviewers are probably used to over seasoned greasy TEX mex. If that is what you want there are a ton of places to eat. If you want quality authentic Mexican food this is a good spot.

With all the negative reviews, I have to post something positive to justify their food and service. 1. The salsa is the best around PF area… spicy and well seasoned… better than the other two tex mex restaurant around. 2. If you like your food covered by grease(just look at the bottom of your plate). Go else where. The food prepared here has just the right amount of balance compared to the tex mex in close by shopping center where lard is free and dripping from your meat clogs my waist and heart… 3. Menudo– you know it’s authentic when you see this soup! Not many people offer it but camino real makes it right… not too salty or spicy so you can adjust to your taste. I usually have no high expectation when I see the only soup offered by Mexican restaurant is the chicken tortilla soup… meh… 4. Great margarita, great service, good food and great price… what can go wrong? Support your small local business when they are doing things right instead of robbing your nose that it’s not a magical/Michelin star restaurant.

The food was average and the place wasn’t very busy, honestly the slowest service I have ever had in my life.

We used to eat here at least once or twice a month. The food was pretty good, but the best part was seeing Marguerite. She’s no longer there — not sure exactly when she left, but it’s been a few months at least. It’s not the same without her and the food alone isn’t reason enough to visit. Sure would love to know where Marguerite is now. I hope she’s happy and well. Adiós, Camino Real…

They have had a sewage problem in the bathrooms for MONTHS that causes the back half of the resultant to smell strongly of POOP. The smell is so bad that it floats to the lobby/register area. God help you if you have to use the restroom at Camino! Not only is the poopy smell overwhelming, but it’s very dark back there, and there are NOTOWELS and the hand-drier was broken. We had NOTHING to dry our hands on after using the bathroom! We first noticed the horrible feces smell in the bathroom area during our last visit two months ago. We vowed we would not return. But we made the mistake today of giving Camino another chance. I couldn’t believe the stench was STILLTHERE! How could they go MONTHS without addressing it? No wonder their waitstaff keep quitting. I talked to the manager about it today, and he acted like he didn’t know about the stench. Ridiculous. Somebody should call the health department to ensure the cooking/serving environment isn’t being affected by the source of the sewage stench. Now to the service. AWFUL! We weren’t even given water until we’d finished our chips and salsa. And we only got that water after asking three times for it! When the waiter(who I think was actually the owner or manager) brought our food, he just dumped it off, didn’t warn us about the very hot plates(including the plate for our toddler), and didn’t even ask us if we needed anything else. He just ran off … And didn’t return even ONCE until after we had totally finished our meal! Even at that point, he didn’t offer us the check. We had to leave the table and approach the cash register to ask for our bill to pay. As for the food, it’s very hit or miss. I adore their beef fajitas and my husband loves the quesadillas, which is probably why we were putting up with the run-down, stinky environment. But we had to send the queso back, because it was so clumpy and old and NASTY. And the chips seem old and stale. But yummy fajitas are not NEARLY enough to make up for an overwhelming smell of poop and horrible service. We will never go back.

Minus 1. Should be the rate for this so call«restaurant» Don’t bother to waste money on this food. Client service is at the finest the worst place you can visit. They literally made us angry at «are you pay now» really? This place is ridiculous. Never again.

Bland food. The service was good but that was probably because it was pretty much empty. We probably won’t be coming back.

I’m giving this place one star, for the lack of good customer service and the lack of good Mexican food. First impression, walked in to the smell of bad fish in the air. The lady. Waitress passing by said where ever you want. My boyfriend and I sat to wait my family to arrive. Waitress not so friendly didn’t greet us and right away asked what we wanted to eat.(Hello we’ve. Haven’t even had time to view the menu). Next, chip & salsa, chips were stale and salsa was ok. My meal was horrible still burping the disgusting drippy beans fours later. Enchilada was dry no sauce and my taco was soggy.(Seriously how hard is it to mess up tacos)! My sister, had chicken mole, with very little mole sauce on of chicken smeared on top like butter. My sister, asked for more mole. And was told by old man waiter no because, they only give out a bit for each oder and someone come in the beginning of every month to make new sauce and don’t have enough to give her. She was disappointed with her meal plus her tea was disgusting!(i find it gross that the make the mole only once a month and save it in little containers for an entire month ew) My mom’s. Fajitas plate did not taste good and the pico taste as if it was going bad. My boyfriend got taco place, his charro beans which taste gross. Btw, they charge an extra dollar for charro beans. They don’t tell you til you pay. When came down to the bill old man over Charged me, which. I wasn’t too upset as long as. He fixed the problem. That’s when the lady waitress started arguing with me. Because she don’t know how to add. Oh lord, this was, such a waste of time, money. I will, never come her again! That fact that my entire family left here with an upset stomach tells a lot about the type of food they serve here. Day old, and month old mole sauce! This place is sick! I don’t know why anyone would eat here. I would not recommend this place, keep driving, golden rule: if the parking lot is empty. Keep on driving. .Never again Camino Real!

OUTSTANDING Customer Service. DELICIOUS Authentic Mexican Food. What a wonderful experience. Don’t believe the bad reviews — this place is amazing. I am just in love with the staff and especially Marguerite. She was incredible. No other restaurant has ever given me such an excellent customer service experience. FAMILYENVIRONMENT — comfortable and friendly. KIDS love it! We saw a family just eating and relaxing and they were treated like they were family members of the restaurant. They treat you like family, the food tastes like incredible home cooking and just WAIT until you try the QUESO. DID I MENTIONTHEYHAVELIVEMUSIC? Immerse yourself in the culture, the food and the experience and treat yourself to a real authentic Mexican meal at Camino Real 2. DIVINE. This is our new«go-to» restaurant for Mexican food(and when we want to sit back and be comfortable in our dining experience). FOURTHUMBSUP!

Let me start by saying the responses from Enrique M. to the reviews are HILARIOUS. The fact that they have treated their customers terribly since 2008(read previous reviews) and finally got a computer in 2014 and realized that as a business they are actually held responsible for their actions… HILARIOUS! Anyways, so. Somebody from the restaurant responded to my previous review very civilly inviting me to come back to their restaurant. I would literally rather flush my money down the toilet. You would actually save money flushing it down the toilet rather than going to eat at Camino Real. You’re probably not going to eat ANY of their terrible food. So you’re going to leave hungry anyways. You’ll probably also leave with a lot of anxiety that you’re going to get shot when you leave. Honestly, the fact that I got a RESPONSE from someone that works there is so funny to me! Like I’m dying laughing that they think that after cussing me out in front of my 1 year old that they can publicly respond, apologize, and invite me back… And that that would work?! Gonna have to pass on Camino Real for the rest of my life, bro.

The food here is pretty dang good, but the service is what earns the 5 stars. Margaurite is amazing. She is always smiling and warm. Come here with your kids. Seriously, they will love it. Do yourself a favor and try it out. You won’t be sorry!

Gross. Took forever to get my water and chips and salsa. My beans had a soggy chunk of something(hoping it was an old chip, but who even knows) the guacamole with my fajitas was brown and we only received 3 tortillas with my fajitas for two-really? Also, when we requested two extra tortillas the girl brought them and didn’t make us aware that there was a charge until we checked out. Won’t be coming back.

I am going to Add to the horrible reviews. I would give this place no stars. im speaking in behalf of myself and i. No cars ever in the parking lot. always a bad sign. but we thought we would give it a shot. hey its been in business for a few years” how bad can it be” boy were we wrong. place is so out dated and dirty. unbelievable. makes you wonder about the kitchen area. food comes out and its disgusting. borracho beans(they charge you extra for that) taste so old and grimy. my husband can eat almost anything, even if he doesn’t like it. he couldnt even eat this stuff. they actually charge extra for more chips and salsa. felt disgusted that i wasted 20 bucks on this place. never ever going back. there is a rumor going around that this place is involved with drugs, thats how they stay in business. dont come here.
