Wow!!! This place is a gem! Wine tasting with cheese and chocolate pairing! Amazing wines, wonderful service and a swing set! My favorite stop in paso!

Date of visit: 4÷29÷2016 Cam and I recently went on a road trip to the Moss Landing Marine Labs to visit my friend’s Open House(I recommend going to that annual event as well if you’re in the area). On the way, I noticed that we would be passing through east Paso Robles so I hopped on Unilocal to find a nice vineyard to visit and stretch our legs. I chose Mitchella because it looked like a small, low key vineyard, which was definitely spot on. It is located behind the Robert Hall Winery and is also the home of the owners — as in, this is literally the house they live in. The front door leads into their wine shop, which has a bar area to try out their wines, and assorted goods and wines to buy. Cam and I opted to share the wine and cheese pairing, which was waived after we purchased two bottles of wine. Technically, it’s waived after only one bottle purchase, but I really liked the Sweet Leona and the Viognier, so we lost out on a tasting by sharing instead of just getting our own tastings. The backyard has a large patio and grassy area, which has a great view of the vineyard. There is ample seating around the patio and a lot of open space in the grassy area to walk around. There’s also a swing set, giant jenga, and corn hole to keep people entertained. Since it was windy, we decided to sit in the covered patio area and relax. Cam really liked walking around the backyard in between tastings — I was just happy to sit somewhere that wasn’t our car. The ladies working behind the counter were extremely friendly and brought out our tastings at the perfect pace. Our tasting included cheese, which Cam enjoyed, but since I’m not a big fan of cheese, I was ambivalent about it. All of the wines we tried were good and it was really nice to just relax after 5 hours in the car. All of the wines here are good and it’s definitely a great place to stop by if you’re in the area and looking to just drink wine and enjoy the view. The Sweet Leona was definitely one of my favorite wines — I learned that the grapes came from west Paso Robles, from 90 year old vines! That was pretty cool. Overall, Mitchella is a really nice vineyard and has some great wines to offer. In retrospect, I kind of wish we had stopped by a vineyard that had more foods available(a couple hours later I ended up eating a gas station cheeseburger), but this is a great stop for those just looking for some wine and cheese.

It may be a little hidden behind another winery but this small winery is a must! Delightful hostess and owners that bring out a pairing of cheeses with the wines and each one was better than the next. Outdoor with lots of fun things to do. If I lived here, I would be a member for sure. Delicious wines

Mitchella is one of the unsung heroes of Central Coast wineries. I’ve been a member for years, and I always recommend that people stop by when they’re in Paso. Their wines are tasty and affordable, the staff is always delightful(love you, Diana), and their dogs are adorable and friendly. Angela and Darren operate the winery out of their home, which gives it a wonderfully intimate, relaxed vibe. Take your wine and sit out on their patio, or head up to their crow’s nest above the house to take in the view of the vineyards. If you want a winery that makes you feel like you’re drinking a glass with a friend, look no further. They’re located off of Highway 46, back behind Robert Hall. You won’t be able to see them from the road, but just follow the signs until you reach the beautiful Tuscan-style home in the vineyards — you’re at the right place!

This hidden gem is our favorite in the area. It’s right behind Robert hall, so skip the big showroom and bland wines there and come here instead! They do a cheese pairing with the wine, and they have a covered outdoor patio to eat at. Great service and explanation of the wines without too much. We especially likes the Zinfandel presumptuous, and we loved the rambunctious as well. The Viognier was delicious as well.

One of the best tasting visits of my trip. The wines were good, the patio tasting area was lovely, and the ladies pouring were absolutely delightful. And as an added bonus, they have a little cheese pairing as you taste and the cheeses were awesome. So good we bought a few to take back to the hotel for snacks.

We have been wine club members for years! Highly recommended this small place. Staff are wonderful and the wine is terrific! They even have some ports to choose from!

From reading the Unilocal reviews, we decided to visit this winery. And for the first time, the Unilocalers were wrong, i’m sorry to say. Their customer service was horrendous. The owner practically kicked us out cause we were on the passport. She told our driver(right in front of us) she didn’t like our faces we made while sampling her wine and we should stick to the wineries on the passport. Excuse her! Everyone has different palates. In the many times i’ve been wine tasting in Paso not once have I experienced terrible service and from the owner! Also, we should have took it as a sign when our driver told us she hadn’t been there in a long while. And now she’ll never recommend them again. Another tour was at our next stop and our driver told their driver what happened. He said, he was not surprised that’s why he doesn’t recommend them to his tours either. So, unless you want to waste your time, I don’t recommend this winery.

we were wine tasting and then one of the workers came out and talked to our driver and said«they aren’t really coming out for the wine so you should stick to that list.» Um excuse me lady, we wanted to try your wines out even if we’re on the passport. But f you & your deplorable customer service.

Love love love visiting this winery. It’s a perfect blend of everything: Fantastic wine, cheese and cracker samples, friendly dogs, an Asteroids machine, and swings! Even bought a Cypress Grove Purple Haze for later on in the evening. The staff was awesome and make you feel at home. I tell everyone that’s going to Paso to make this a can’t miss stop.

What a great find(thank you Unilocal). A little hard to find, but definitely worth it. We were in SLO for graduation and wanted to have a picnic after, but SLO was packed so we ‘yelped’ the region and found Mitchella. As soon as you walk in the doors you are greeted by the friendly staff and owners(and Bob the dog). They have a nine pour(with cheese) menu available. They have a great outdoor/indoor picnic grounds and I would recommend for any special occasipon.

We went on a binge. One winery after another, for two days straight. Denny B, you may have a crazy agenda… but you sure do know your wines, and you certainly know how to make the best out of a wine tour. Thank you Denny for a thrilling time. Even I, wine novice, found myself moving on to bigger wines than I ever imagined. This time, Denny introduced us to places he himself had not yet experienced. And that is how we came to Mitchella. And while I did not take much in the way of pictures, we came away with some real treasures. First, the gift shop stuff. There are a small collection of gift items, but the one I fell in love with was the jam. Actually two. They offer tastings, and wisely provided crackers and cream cheese for the tasting. Why, you say? Because one was a Jalapeño jam, the other a Scotch Bonnet. This«wuss» lady not only enjoyed them but came away with a jar of each. They are not that spicy, just flavorful and delicious. A pint runs about $ 9. Thumbs up for the cream cheese accompaniment, btw. Now, before you judge me for what I have to say, I fully confess. I am a rosé wine drinker of the pathetic kind. Right… nobody drinks rosé. Just wine wimps. Or do they? Mitchella offers a 2014 Reluctant that even Denny had to admit was lovely. And he won’t tell you this, but I think he bought some, just like we did. I went to their website, and I can’t find it there. So you will have to jump in your car and taste it before you think Denny and wife, Mr. B, and I have lost our minds. Had a great visit, the pourers were delightful. And our experience was a keeper. Let’s do this again!

Beautiful property, fabulous wine/cheese pairing, excellent service! We loved our experience here and bought several bottles and cheeses to take with us! Note that they are behind another winery, so make sure you just keep driving past the larger winery!

We happened upon Mitchella last weekend during the ZinFest weekend. You can choose the type of flight that you like, white or red. We were more than happy to do a $ 10 tasting when we found out that they were serving paella as part of the festivities. Add that to the cheese pairings and prawns and you have a fantastic lunch w/some great wines. Beautiful surroundings overlooking vineyards; we were able to enjoy the views while sitting on a wind-protected patio and our server kept the tastings coming. What a great way to end the weekend:)

Stopped in on Friday and bought a couple of reds and then sat outside with some glasses of purchased wine at $ 8 a glass and enjoyed the day. It is a really nice place and worth a stop.

Wine tasting at Mitchella Vineyard and Winery was by far the best wine tasting experience I have ever had, and I have been to quite a few wineries since turning 21. First of all, Diana was a spectacular wine pourer. She was very knowledgeable about the wines and made my friends and I feel like family from the moment we arrived. She was hilarious and had a great personality that really amplified the experience. Second, the wine very well priced at $ 10 for what I believe was 8 tastings with paired cheeses, plus $ 5 for tastings of the 3 ports. All of the wine was incredible, especially the red blends and the ports. I bought a bottle of the delicious 2010 Port– Vintage Riportella. The view of the vineyards from the backyard was also magnificent, and the dogs were fun to play with. I will definitely be bringing some of my other friends back to Mitchella Vineyard and Winery soon!

My favorite is BoB the dog. He loves his ball and loves Kids. This is good because I get to have some fun with my hot chick and relax for awhile. The area is very well groomed and there’s a swing for the kid inside you.

Super nice place to stop and taste some wine. We where on our way to Big Su and decided to stop by. The place is really beautiful, and it has a nice garden and terrace to watch the sunset. We went with our dog and there was no problem for us to do the tasting in the garden with him. During the tasting they also offer some cheese to try with the different wines. The have an arcade machine inside for free!

What a quaint little winery! We stopped here while passing through Paso Robles the other day and we’re delighted with their offerings! Almost every wine in the tasting knocked our socks off. Plus– the cheese pairings went well with the wines. Too bad we don’t live closer. We’d be back here all of the time. The staff was super friendly and the house dog Bön was sweet. Highly recommend this winery!

Wine and Cheese? Yes please! Small little tasting room that seemed to be quite popular when we went to visit(there were four or five groups all vying for attention at the counter). $ 10 gets you a number of tastings and a small plate of cheese samples that the server will suggest you pair with specific wine tastings and you can buy from the winery as well — the day we were there they were serving an amazing coffee crusted cheese — delicious! And they have a gorgeous wine dog who will want to do nothing more than distract you from your tastings with a never ending game of fetch.

Definitely my favorite spot in Paso. We stopped by during our friend’s bachelorette adventure back in April. Weather was beautiful and we felt right at home. Small tasting room which I like, friendly staff, beautiful backyard and adorable lab named Bob walking around :) Wine tasting came with cheese pairings which we got to enjoy while sitting back and relaxing in the backyard(they came out to pour for us). They have tables and chairs, games(Jenga, bean bag toss, ball), swing set and a beautiful view of the vineyard. There is a lot of nice green grass where you can walk around. You can also take the stairs up to the 2nd floor/patio area for even a nicer view. We also tried some jelly they made with cream cheese and crackers. Loved the habanero jelly! Although I can’t handle spicy too much, but this along with cream cheese and crackers was delicious and too good to pass up! So I bought a jar($ 8.95) to take back home and my husband loved it. You can also purchase over the phone. Highly recommended. Would love to come back whenever we are in town again :)

One of the best wine tastings we’ve been to. The folks at the counter were friendly and we got around to sampling quite a few marvelous wines. Reluctant Rose was outspoken and fabulous(with unusual depth) as was their port and a few other reds.
