Wine tasting with an amazing view. My favorite experience in general was at Halter Ranch. The views are breathtaking, the wine tasty, and our wine guide named T was by far the best we had all day! The combination of those made for an unforgettable experience with good friends

Had a tour of the vineyard, barrel room and caves with Nick. Amazing views and wonderful history lesson on the vineyard. The weather was beautiful and the wine was incredible. Every other vineyard has paled in comparison. Can’t wait to go back!

Even though the new tasting room has lost some of the quaintness and intimacy of old on, it is stunning. The wines were great, but the stand-out was Mitch. He was extremely attentive, very knowledgeable about the wines and«above and beyond» helpful. We were trying to find a place for lunch – he gave several great recommendations and went as far as calling another winery to see if they were serving lunch that day. Now THAT’s how customer service is done! Great experience and we will definitely be back!

Absolutely Beautiful vineyard tainted by a horrible experience with the gentleman ‘T’ pouring for my tasting. He was rude, not very informative and did not provide an experience to match the surroundings that he works for. My husband and I visited several wineries in Sonoma, Lodi, and Paso Robles and plan to come back, but we will not go back to this location because of our experience with Mr. T, we enjoy wine too much to have it spoiled by such bad service. The wines were not impressive, but, to be fair it was hard to focus on the wines while being insulted by the person pouring.

Went with a group and our guide Tony was wonderful. We had recently come from Justin and got a less than welcoming greeting. When we opened the door at Halter Ranch we were greeted with smiles and greetings! Jessica is a wonderful welcoming lady! Justin employees should take note! What an amazing new facility they have. The only issue was parking. There seems to be not enough parking and not sure why they didn’t utilize the space better outside, but the tasting room and winery are beautiful

Oh my goodness the view! The new tasting room is amazing! And so much history! This place is amazing! Oh… And did I mention the wine? Have the cabernet… By and far the best. The staff… Awesome! Super friendly and helpful. They know their stuff! Huge shout out too Maryanna. She spent a ton of time getting to know us, and what we like. We had a blast! Thanks so much!

Went here on Saturday with a group of friends. The wine was all wonderful as was Joel. I loved the Ancestor wine and bought a bottle. The only thing I didn’t like was the employees trying the wine and then spitting it into the bucket in front of us. I know they are trying to make sure it is good but to do it in front of us made me want to leave. Overall, it was fun and I will be back.

Best views I have ever had to enjoy while wine tasting! Their grounds are gorgeous and they have lots of space. The wine was tasty and enjoyable. Fair tasting few and waived with purchase of a bottle, I always enjoy that. You can also purchase a glass to enjoy on the grounds after tasting. They had self serve water refill stations which I always appreciate.

Love love love Halter Ranch — it’s worth the drive. Their new tasting room is open and it’s massive and downright stunning. The property is beautiful, not unlike most of the wineries in paso — they had quite a few really great wines — we left with their 2013 Syrah… but it was a difficult decision …

The staff at Halter Ranch Vineyard set the stage for a phenomenal experience. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The entire team creates a great environment for wine tasting and tours. The wines are amazing. My favorites are the Syrah and the Tempranillo. The Halter Ranch tour is amazing. I love the green environment and the history of the ranch. If you have only one vineyard choice to visit, go to Halter Ranch Vineyard

Had a great experience here with Noah on a tour(definitely recommend calling ahead to take the tour). The wines were great; just reds with a rose, but were great.

I had a great experience at Halter Ranch today. My folks were in town to visit, and wine tastings is one of our favorite things to do together. Mitch was pouring for us, and he was both knowledgeable and enthusiastic, friendly and altogether a great person to talk wine with. We did a tour of the winery with Ray, who was also extremely personable and knowledgeable. The vineyard itself was beautiful and impressive, and the customer service really made up for some of the disinterest we experienced from personnel elsewhere. Oh, also, the wine was delicious ;) The Syrah was my favorite, though I also really loved the CDP, and the Ancestor.

This is our most favorite winery of all time. So much more to offer than just great wines! From the beautiful Victorian Farmhouse to the new state-of-the-art winery and wine tasting room to the safari jeep wine tours of the vineyard that includes a visit to the lake, amazing valley views while sampling the Ancestral red wine under the possibly 3,000 year old Ancestral Oak tree. Halter Ranch has gone above and beyond with their participation in research studies, their wildlife safe passage freeway through the vineyard, water conservation and collections processes to the«employee garden» and free ranch chickens that provide breakfast to the vineyard workers each day. Take an entire day, sign up for a tour on the safari Range Rover that came straight from Cape Town, South Africa. Take in the amazing views. Tour the new and state-of-the-art wine making facility and tasting room while stepping back in time to the Victorian era at the Victorian Farmhouse and learn about the enchanting town of Adelaida. You’ll feel so at home you simply will not want to leave!

Excellent selection, bought half a dozen bottles of their delicious vintages, and joined their wine club. Service is superb, varietals are thoughtfully selected.

For the general public who visits their main tasting room, this place has the feel of one of the larger wineries in Napa. Some of the charm of Paso is lost because of how popular they have become. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and had to fight for a place at the bar to do our tasting. The wines didn’t have any real strong characteristics and struck us as understated. They must be doing something right because they appeared to have a strong following based on how busy they were, but it just wasn’t for us. The saving grace, for us, was the large outdoor area where we were able to enjoy a glass or so and do some people watching. We probably won’t be back, but we’re happy we went.

I’m rating Halter Ranch as a five because we are members here and the member experience is hard to beat. Their members-only lounge is warm and welcoming and we received a private tour of the winery and grounds from T. The wines are amazing as well — namely the Ancestor and Block 22. The vineyard is beautiful and the staff is very friendly!

This is a wine review, not a pretty garden review or a beautiful tasting room review or a wonderful location review. All of those things are covered by others. We tasted all the wines offered and could without reservation give them a big thumbs up on the entire line-up. They are made in an Old World style quite different from the Paso region style. Drier than most, less of a fruit bomb than other providers with minerality coming through on the palate. Pleasant. Bought two bottles of 2012 Cotes de Paso(red). The host of the tasting was a very informative gentleman who could talk about the wines, their process for making and about the vineyards they own — which are quite extensive. Recommend trying these wines. They are right where Vineyard Road and Adelaida Road meet. Close to Tablas Creek, Tolo and Kiamie are, so it makes for some interesting comparisons.

It looks like holding some kind of event here wouldn’t be too bad; but we weren’t impressed with the wines at all. We were here with one other couple who had been on wine tours all over the world, and we all immediately dumped. None of the wine we had in the tasting made us want more. The guy serving us the tasting also sounded like a robot. He was cowboy dressed and seemed as if he was reading cue cards from somewhere while he explained each wine. We all thought he was really really weird. Besides the untasty wines they sold cheeses, crackers, chocolates olive oils and balsamic vinegars. We took home a bottle of balsamic and they waived our tasting fee. My BF used vanilla bean ice cream, fresh cracked black pepper and some of that balsamic in a strawberry shortcake desert he made, yum! That really had nothing to do with the wine though, because we could have gotten balsamic anywhere. The winery besides the grounds really wasn’t anything special to go out of your way and stop for.
