I love me some poke! Fresh fish and friendly staff who doesn’t love that?! I have to say though, their ordering process is a little bit confusing. They have 9 signature bowls which are the preset flavors, you still pick your fish(two for regular and three for large). With the signature bowls you can still add any topping you want in your mix! Or you can built your own from scratch. I really like bonzai cause its so refreshing and also comes with avocado and you don’t pay extra. I also like Aloha808 and Shaka. I like to get half rice half salad, whatever fish u feel like that day and they top the bowl off with a scoop of imitation crabmeat and seaweed salad. Not as much food as poke salad bar around the corner, but you still get full.

Amazing poke house. Great quality, a little pricey but well worth it. I was brought here for the first time during summer 2015 and I loved it! It was new to me, it was perfect for the weather. Very friendly staff, attractive as well ;) definitely recommend my friends. Took three of them today and two enjoyed it greatly. As for the other friend she does not like fish so she doesn’t count. But other then that this place is amazing must try if you’re in town. Amazing poke house. Great quality, a little pricey but well worth it. The gf and I had gotten their signatures: Furikake and Sweet Heat with Salmon and Tuna in both. Both signatures are delicious. I personally like the Furikake better because I like salty food. But if you are more toward sweetness, then the Sweet Heat is for you. Very recommended.

My new found passion for poke was satisfied with this visit! It’s located in an alley, right off Colorado. Parking is metered, residential, or lots(there’s one on the next street over that has 90 min free). The service was over the top phenomenal! Everyone is so energetically cheery, super helpful, and patient! I loved that they were giving out samples(even after I ordered my food), AND that they walked around checking up on us during our meal. Here’s how it works: You can either get a signature pre-designed bowl of poke or do it chipotle style and create your own. Love that there’s a variety of fish. There’s 2 sizes: small(2 scoops of fish) or large(3 scoops). You then choose sauces, cold toppings, dry toppings, a base, and crab or seaweed salad. YASSSS seaweed salad! I chose to do chipotle style so I mixed tuna and salmon with sesame shoyu, wasabi shoyu, green onions, cucumber, masago, crispy onions, sesame seeds, furikake, and seaweed salad on a bed of white rice. YUMMMMMM, such a wonderful creation with the help of a worker. I certainly ate every bite of this bowl! The flavors were amazing and the fish was fresh. All in all, I very much approve of this restaurant for poke. They have high qualify fish, and a variety of fish, sauces, and toppings. This is a similar style to PokiNometey, but I’d choose this place any day since it’s easier on the wallet with more quantity. Also, kudos to the employees here!

I’ve been here numerous times and Spinfish never disappoints! *The sauces are all really flavorful and they allow you to combine them. I like mixing the sesame shoyu, wasabi crème, and ginger scallion. *Portions are good. I always get a regular and it’s very filling *They add crab and seaweed, no extra charge *The staff is always really courteous and patient and takes the time to explain how it works if it’s your first time there. *Last and most important, the fish is ALWAYS fresh If you haven’t been there yet you should def. put it on your list when you’re in Pasadena!

After eating here, I feel like taking back all my 5 star reviews for all the other poke places in California. Spinfish is officially, my favoooooooooooooooooooooorite!!! Everything just tastes insanely good, down to the fried shallots, I probably could eat this every day. Even had the leftovers for breakfast the next morning at 7AM. :9

Surprise, surprise. Yet another poke place in SoCal. This is just one of four poke places in Pasadena and quite possibly my favourite one! It is located on Mills Alley right next to Café 86 in Old Town Pasadena. Parking is easy peasy with parking structures offering free parking for the first 90 minutes. Or you can do what my brother does and just park in the alley reaaaal quick while someone else goes inside and orders. I’ve never done that by the way. My brother is just a tad bit impatient to look for parking and walk through Old Town, hah! The workers here are friendly and do their job well. A regular bowl($ 9.50) comes with two choices of fish and a variety of toppings and sauces to choose from, OR you can choose a signature bowl. Seaweed salad and crab salad are free but they charge $ 1 for both. That confused me. Just choose one or the other if you don’t want to pay the extra $ 1 charge. Personally, I got both and it made for a better poke bowl! I tend to stick to my usuals when it comes to poke. The salmon and ahi tuna were fresh and I love that they offer so many different sauces(sesame shoyu, ponzu, sriracha aioli, wasabi crème, chili lime, sweet chili, etc). You can even mix and match and combine them if you so desire. Everything is mixed in front of you so you can always ask to add extra toppings and whatnot. I like to ask for furikake, crispy onions, sesame seeds, and lemon zest on top of everything else for that extra crunch. Actually didn’t know they had Chips and Guac here until I came into Café 86 and saw one of the workers at Spinfish eating those on her break. Chips and guac are one of my food weaknesses so I’m going to have to try theirs the next time. I cannot wait.

I am as ratchet as it gets when it comes to Poke! When there is no set menu, I always end up putting everything in my bowl, and it always ending up tasting like a bowl of «manure mixed with regrets.» If you’re like me and you needs poke joints to put you in your place, then Spinfish could be a spot for your ratchet ass too! Spinfish’s menu got variety and it’s pretty good. They got bowls for every palates. spicy, sweet, tangy, creamy, salty, bland, and all in between. I got the Caribbean bowl which is on the tangy side. They got pictures for all of their bowls and the staffs are very hip and knowledgeable. I highly recommend that you bombard them with loads of questions. I sure as hell did. Spinfish is reasonably priced. I got a large bowl for $ 11. Their fish to rice portion is very good compared to some other places around nearby cities. If you’re a fan of poke, then you got to give this place a try. Gotta catch em all right?! Happy Unilocaling!

Review is Long overdue, starting typing this when they barely opened– My first time here and I’m hooked! The owner Andy was very friendly and greeted all the customers. He explained how the poke bowl works and asked if I wanted to try a sample. Of course I do! I went with the banzai which was what I had in mind and so glad I picked it. A small was enough for me, I felt full and satisfied! I added masago and there was no extra charge. Since my first time here I’ve tried two other poke spots in Pasadena and I must say this is my top choice. I even got my sister saying she will be coming here instead. The staff here is awesome! There was a huge group ordering ahead of us so they packed ours up and I wanted to add masago, she went ahead and hooked me up! Didn’t look irritated at all that I wanted to add something additional to my bowl. Masago galore! yum! She said she will call me masago girl from now on lol. They were passing out samples and I got to try the coconut one which is a bit too sweet in my opinion but still good and they also had the 808 which was delicious. Now I’m not sure what to order the next time I come! I have to point out something else about the staff esp the cashier I really wish I knew her name! A customer was putting their food on the table and some of the tortilla chips fell off the table before he could pick it up the cashier swooped by and said its ok! And scooped it up with her hands and threw it away. I must say that was awesome! Post employees would just stare at it for a second go in the back and grab a broom, by then other customers would have stepped all over it. Parking: street parking or in the parking structures. Both very close and first 90 mins free!

I’ve heard good things about this poke place, in the abundant sea of poke places in Pasadena. Compared to Pokemix, this place is much better. The service is very nice and welcoming. I didn’t feel rushed at all. I got the furirake bowl and I liked it! The fish tasted really good, however, the sauce was a bit overwhelming. I suggest getting the sauce on the side. My friend told me after the fact that I also could have made my own bowl. I’m going to try that next time.

I liked the sweet heat bowl. It’s mildly spicy and works well with the fish. I tend to opt for the salmon and yellowtail with rice. The shop is clean, service is great, and most importantly, the fish is fresh. It’s probably the best poke bowl in the San Gabriel Valley that I’ve tried so far. Not quite a gripe, but more of a reality statement: it can get packed and seating is limited. It’s great because you have great food within walking distance of the shops in Old Town Pasadena and it’s also close to the parking structure as well. Anyway, poke on over!

Hands down one of the best poke places that I’ve ever had! I love how cute and clean this little shop is. The workers are so friendly and accommodating of your questions. Not to mention, they’re SO generous on samples! While we were waiting in line, one of the workers came out and had two bowls of samples: shrimp with sriracha aioli and tuna with sweet shoyu. She gave us a spoon, and told us to scoop out however much we wanted. In addition to that, you can sample any of the sauces on the menu! The menu has a wide variety of sauces, which leave you questioning what you should get. I, however, tried the Sesame Shoyu mixed with the Sriracha Aioli, which was an A+ in my book. A small comes with two choices of fish($ 9.50) and the large comes with three($ 11.50). While the prices may seem steeper than other places, they offer a TON of toppings that wouldn’t come with the bowls normally. You get options of green onion, sweet onion, masago, cilantro, cucumber, coconut flakes, lemon zest, Hawaiian sea salt, red chili flakes, ogo(seaweed flakes) furikake, panko, sesame seeds, and crispy onion(which I would highly recommend)! You also get a side of either krab salad or seaweed salad. I personally got seaweed salad, and my friend got the krab, and we spit them! They are super generous with portions here as well, so it didn’t even seem like I was giving anything up. You can either choose among their signature dishes(preset sauce + select ingredients) or build your own. My personal order consisted of: — A large portion with spicy tuna(not mixed in), salmon, and hamachi(yellowtail) — Mix of Sesame Shoyu /Sriracha Aioli — All of the toppings, except for Hawaiian sea salt and red chili flakes I personally thought the flavors of the sauces went excellently together. When I first tried the sesame shoyu, it mainly tasted like sesame oil. I wasn’t too much of a fan, but then the worker told me that it is super good mixed with the sriracha aioli. After trying it, I was sold. The perfect part of the sauce is you get that creaminess of sriracha aioli, but also that fresh/original taste that comes with the shoyu flavor. The sesame oil flavor is masked when mixed in with everything else. I personally thought among the toppings, the lemon zest and the crispy onion definitely were the MVPs of the toppings. The lemon zest gave the bowl a little tang, while the crispy onion was crunchy and paired so well with the melt-in-your-mouth tenderness of the fish. I also tried my friend’s, which was the Banzai(a signature dish). The flavor was indeed different, but not at all worse or better than mine. I think the sauces are all good and so choose one that is interesting to you! Overall, will definitely be back if I am ever in the area. The parking is mostly street parking, so keep that in mind. There’s also a $ 1 off from Blockhead’s if you make a purchase!

A super solid poke joint in Old Town Pas!!! My Order: ½ Salmon ½ Scallop Noodles Aloha 808 Seaweed Salad Side Everything tasted really good and fresh! Service was fast and picking up my online order was easy as pie. This was my first time having poke with noodles and I like it a lot. I think it meshes a bit better with the scallops in terms of texture but the salmon was great with it as well. Aloha 808 is a little sweet with a bit of kick without overshadowing the other flavors in the bowl. I really liked this signature bowl! I’ll definitely be back to check out the other bowls and maybe creat my

I came here with one of my friends on a Tuesday night and it surprisingly not packed at all, but as soon as we began ordering, a long line started to form out the door. I’m definitely glad we were able to beat the dinner rush. As my friend and I ordered, the employee taking our order had a tough time hearing the items that we were trying to add to our bowl. There were only two people taking our orders that time, so it kind of took longer to add everything onto our bowl than usual. With more employees taking our orders, I feel that it would speed up the wait. After we paid, we sat outside and began our excitement of trying our Spinfish bowl. The portion was not as much as I had hoped, but it was fine because I was able to save room for dessert afterwards. Overall the fish was really fresh, the fish portion was pretty good. One thing I wish was that I wish I didn’t add the Sriracha Aioli sauce because it was a bit too saucy halfway through my bowl and I already finished all of my rice. In the end, I really did enjoy my bowl and I will definitely come back in the future, just during the less busy hours!

I did something different for this experience. I ate at Spinfish Poke House and Poke Salad Bar at the same time in a competitive experience to see which one hold supreme in Downtown Pasadena. This place won in quality in taste of flavor and rice, so that pretty much edges Poke Salad Bar. Poke Salad Bar wins in quantity, Artificial Crabmeat, and affordability. Both poke places is meant some slightly different clientele of poke eaters. This is why Spinfish wins. *Rice — Rice is a key component to sushi and that is the same to be said for Poke, obviously. This place has the sushi grade rice, that nice sticky rice that you feel in expensive sushi place. With that, it makes the fish taste better and the whole experience taste better. You can taste the difference if you try both places. *Shaka Bowl — This bowl is the Sriracha Aioli. If you like your poke creamy like a waimea in North Shore or like a Sriracha Mayo like base, you will love this. I for sure love it for sure. The fish is fresh compared to its next door neighbor. The only gripe is the price and the amount, but I guess that’s just the way it goes, but quality is up there and it’s above the grade from the poke places that are in lower stars that I’ve rated. I would gladly go here again.

I came here on a Friday around 3pm-ish. It wasn’t too busy when I got here. The menu is pretty simple, and you can customize your meal however you like it. There are pre-made sauce suggestions too. I ordered a regular size, Aloha 808(pre-made sauce suggestion) with salmon, brown rice, and along with the seaweed and imitation crab meat. Without adding anything else, a regular bowl plus tax is $ 10.36. The salmon tasted fresh. The Aloha 808 was a tasty sauce with a subtle spicy kick to it. I really enjoyed my meal. The portions were just right. I felt like I had a good balance of the rice and fish. It was filling, and I almost couldn’t finish it. This totally satisfied my poke cravings, especially poke cravings that matched my expectations. The staff was friendly and attentive.

Best poke place I have tried so far. The place is tiny so the seats are limited, I would say definitely worth the wait. You can choose to made your own bowl or try their signature bowl. They are also super generous in giving toppings and dressing. I also like how they have so many options of dressing. For the base, I tried their chips and it was awesome. I like to make one chip full of the poke and take the whole bite. My favorite sauce was Sriracha Aioli because it was spicy and creamy. I also like their ponzu, its lighter. The portions of fish and everything are good for me and I really have no complaints about anything. You can also ask for extra dressing on the side for FREE which a lot of poke place should learn from it. Parking is street or you can park at structure nearby.

Been hearing a lot about this poke place so I finally decided to drop by and try it out. I like how they allow you to customize it to however you wish. I ordered the large, and you can choose from the pre-set menu or mix and match. It’s really up to you how you want it. The fish was fresh, and they actually give a good amount of fish. For parking, I advise you to park at the Delacey Parking structure as they give 90 mins free parking. Easy walk over.

Sorry Chipotle but this is my new friend. Staff was super friendly as I walked in the door and informative on how to order. I ordered the sweet heat and really enjoyed how my tuna and salmon came out on it. Turned mine into a salad since I was full from a previous meal but was still hungry enough to finish this. Anyways, location is small so finding a seat can be a pain but if you’re familiar with Old Pasadena then you know somewhere else to find seating!

An alright poke place, but with so many other poke places around the area, I don’t know that I’ll come back to try it again. There fish wasn’t the greatest quality and their portion size was average for the price. I guess the biggest thing I can say about this place is just how average it is :/ Will probably give it another shot before giving it a final verdict!
