This restaurant is very awesome! We had a great server Tim he was very nice and had great service. The food was delicious. They even have fresh flowers at every table. I will be returning for sure.

I’m giving this place 4 stars, 3 ½ for food and 5+ for great service! Our server was 14(ish) year old boy, I’m assuming of some relation to the owners. Although you can tell he’s new to serving, he did a great job. He kept waters full, checked back a couple times(not too much) to make sure everything was good, and was very pleasant to work with. The cook even came out after we were done to ask how everything was. We had breakfast tacos, shrimp fajitas, and a kids bean and cheese burrito. All were quite good. The salsa that came with the appetizer(chips and salsa) was a bit salty and not spicy enough. I’d hope they have a spicier option, seeing as how it’s a Mexican place after all. It would be nice to see a vegetarian green chili option as well as a red chili option. It seems like they’re still going through classic growing pains, hopefully they’ll work out all the kinks.

We enjoy supporting«mom and pop» restaurants but unfortunately this one did not earn a repeat visit. We ordered carne asada tacos and a chicken chimichanga. The steak had a weird flavor/seasoning and the chimi was soggy and flavorless. We also were not fans of the salsa and it came with stale chips. Our waitress was polite and she was trying to provide good service. The manager however was rude. Our short interaction with her was just when we were paying our bill. She seemed annoyed. Because of this, we didn’t provide her any feedback on the meal nor did she ask how our meal was. Wish it was a better experience, but unfortunately I can’t recommend this restaurant.

Matthew H’s review mirror mine. My wife and I decided to try this restaurant since it was new and associated with The Old Santa Fe Grill. The chips were as described and the salsa had a unique taste and bite. Our meal came very fast on extremely hot plates. My meal was ok but not great. The enchilada had a very tangy sauce in it. My wife’s chimichanga was filled with a very greasy hamburger and not very good. The cook came out any offered sopapillas and like Matt the dessert was very good. The service was good but— like Matt they showed up almost after every bite to ask how the meal was. I felt like they were expecting us to say it was bad Unlike Matt I will not be back

This place is obviously new and probably is experiencing some growing pains. The service is good and the food is pretty tasty. My husband got the Colorado burrito. I got the Barbacoa burrito. Both of our burritos were all well seasoned beef. The portions are generous. The salsa and the chili is fresh and spicy. Complimentary sopapillas, need I say more? I lived in Phoenix for 10 years and it may not be the most authentic Mexican food ever, but it’s definitely not bad. I will be coming here again.

I saw all of one and two star reviews but it was close to home and I decided to give it a try anyway — bad decision. The food was OK; I’d give the food 2 stars, it was the service that was not good. The server did a fine job actually, it was the speed at which orders came out. There were a total of 4 tables occupied(including us). It took almost an hour for our food to come out of the kitchen; I only saw one cook. I will not be returning.

I visited this place for lunch recently and may give it another shot in the future, but if it isn’t better next time, I won’t return again. I have to mention that when I visited, I was informed that they’d only been open for a couple weeks, so maybe they’re still getting the glitches worked out. I’ll give it a few weeks, visit again, and see what happens. But in the meantime, here’s my first impression based on my first visit… Let’s start off with the(mostly) good aspects of my experience: My server was polite, attentive, and courteous; as was the cook and a person who I assume was a manager or owner. I was brought chips & salsa and my drink within a minute or two of being seated. My server also recommended a couple of dishes on the menu(maybe I should’ve taken the hint and gone with one of the recommendations; perhaps this was a subtle attempt to save me from bad decisions). I figured I’d spoil myself a bit, so I ordered steak and shrimp(OK, it’s not really what you’d expect someone to order if they’ve chosen to go to an «authentic» Mexican restaurant, but I couldn’t help myself). One more good thing… it didn’t take long to get my entrée. Now the not-so-stellar part: I dug into the chips and salsa. The chips were not crunchy. Instead, they were chewy; having a consistency and texture falling somewhere between fruit leather and playing cards with some occasional crunchy bits thrown in. Maybe it was just a bad batch. But several were stuck together in big, gummy chip wads that were challenging to pull apart, largely due to the fact that they stretched and tore, rather that simply snapping and cracking apart. The salsa wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great. When the steak and shrimp arrived, it had an air of carelessness about it: A little blob of unseasoned, overdone(I ordered rare, and rare it was not) steak accompanied by a crescent of five or six medium-sized, bland and boiled(at least I assume they’re boiled, based on their texture and flavor) shrimp. On the side, a pile of soggy onion rings and some«grilled» quarter-sliced zucchini that could’ve used a few more minutes on the flat top and some seasoning… something…anything…anyone got a salt shaker back there? I tasted a little bit of everything. It was not inedible, but it was nearly flavorless. Thank heavens for steak sauce — I drowned my entire plate in it. I then used the two warm tortillas they provided to wipe up and eat the rest of the steak sauce — the star of the entrée. Now here’s where things got a bit weird for me. I’m not rude or inconsiderate, so I was content to get the food down my gullet and move on; keeping my opinions to myself and resigning myself to the fact that I’d made an error in judgment. But my ever-attentive server and the cook(who wasn’t terribly busy) kept checking on me and asking if everything was all right. Sorry, but I didn’t feel like having a discussion(or confrontation) about the lackluster performance in the kitchen. So I lied — lied through my teeth as they gnawed through the rubberized zucchinis and overdone steak — and said everything was fine. As another diner prepared to order, the server turned to me and asked for my approval of the steak and shrimp in an effort to reaffirm the other diner that it was a good option. Like a chicken(hmmmm…maybe I should’ve had the chicken), I crammed another shrimp in my mouth and nodded in approval just enough to feel believable, but not so much that I couldn’t live with myself. Fortunately, the other diner opted for a different entrée, so I avoided yet another potential confrontation. After the steak and shrimp, things actually improved a bit. I wanted something sweet to get the rubber-zucchini-shrimpy-steaky taste out of my mouth. So I ordered the Xango(hadn’t heard of it before), which was described to me as «Mexican cheesecake.» They did a nice job. It was a couple of lightly fried flour tortillas wrapped around a warm, just-sweet-enough cheesecake-like filling, drizzled with a bit of caramel sauce, and just a touch of whipped cream on top. If someone was going to make up for the state of the entrée, I’d say this dessert might actually do the trick. After I ordered it from the server, a person who’d entered the restaurant a bit earlier — who I assume was an owner or manager — actually brought it to me, and asked me once again how things were. Again, I lied and said, «Good.» But I didn’t feel as bad about saying it this time, since dessert was actually enjoyable. I felt that perhaps I’d been rewarded with Xango for muscling through lunch, so no point in complaining. Overall, service is great and they just need to get the food on track. Maybe it’s just that I chose the wrong dish. So I’ll give it another shot and see what happens.

Old Mexico? More like no Mexico! The people were nice and I really wanted to like this place but the whole experience was poor. From the small booths, to a really bizarre menu, to really, really bad food. The menu kept claiming great food but not a single thing we ordered was good. It was maybe the most un-authentic Mexican food ever served, for sure it was the most un-authentic Mexican food i have eaten. We saw some return their food and leave without paying, I was not that smart and should have paid not to eat the food. I hope you see this review and get some help with your dishes fast or you will not be in business very long.

Not authentic at all. The service was ok but the food was terrible. My chicken«street tacos» had no onions, no cilantro but instead what tasted like plain boiled chicken covered in tomatoes and shredded lettuce. The rice was dry and bland and the flautas consisted of the same booked bland chicken in a corn tortilla. We will not return, EVER.

This is some of the worst Mexican food we’ve had. Not authentic by any means. Bad recipes, poor execution, no flavor and just not good. The«queso» dip was melted Velveeta. The«Wow» nachos, billed as the biggest you’ve ever seen, weren’t even close. They forgot the beans and there was barely any cheese. The chili relleno burrito, was a possibly pre-made crispy relleno wrapped in a tortilla with mediocre green chili and some cheese on top. When we were asked how we liked our food as we were eating, we gently explained that we were disappointed and why. The woman, who appeared to be management, seemed irritated that we didn’t like the food and offered no apology or remedy. Since they just opened 5 days ago, you would think they would welcome honest feedback. Nobody in the restaurant seemed happy with their food. One couple sent their food back and left. Wish we had done that. Another family ordered their food and then 15 minutes later were asked to repeat their order as it had been«lost». Unless this business listens to their dissatisfied customers, they won’t be around for long. Too bad our Father’s Day meal was also ruined.
