I started a new job in Bergen County in July. On Thursday I ate at 9 Iron for the first time. It’s on the golf course in Paramus. I was there celebrating a colleague’s birthday with some of my other colleagues. I think there were 7 of us. This was the first time we all went to lunch since I started. We sat inside. I got a veggie burger with a side garden salad. It was ok. It was slightly cardboardish but not horrible. My complaint was the service. After our drinks and food were delivered, no one came back to the table again. One of my colleague’s had to get up and ask for the check and boxes to wrap up leftovers. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat there with friends on my days off or on the weekend.

Over the past 2 years or so I have been coming here. Usually after golf. It is right on the golf course and it was a great place to come to relax and unwind after a round. Well, for about the last year, quality has gone downhill with no brakes! The service was mediocre and not very knowledgeable about the menu. 5 of us had gone there for dinner last week. 3 of us ordered burgers and 2 ordered off the special menu. The 3 of us that ordered the burgers all ordered them«medium», well let me tell you, The 3 burgers that came out were dry, well done and flavorless and was sitting on a roll that was 2x thicker then the burger. Very, very disappointing. Then one other member in my party wanted a salad instead of fries, until they found out they are being charged for it! To me, this makes no sense what so ever. Your just substituting for something else! I find it very hard to believe that a cups worth of salad costs more then an order of fries. There should be no reason a substitution should cost more. Especially if you want repeat business. The other people in our party who had the specials, were not thrilled with them, but ate them because they were hungry. Another issue are the seats and chairs, we had a very wobbly table and the room was loud, even though there were only about 3 other tables. So, overall, I am sure myself and my friends will not be going to the 9 Iron Grill again. Its shame such a nice golf course owns such a lousy restaurant.

I like to meet friends and business clients here for lunch during the week. The food & service are both good. But I go for the atmosphere more which is casual & comfortable. In the winter the fireplace is usually going. Overall it’s one of my favorite lunch spots in Paramus.

I was there on 1÷11÷2014 with a group of friends. On the specials menu was Chicken Pot Pie with a description that it was grilled chicken instead of the usual in a chicken pot pie. It also said that it was topped with a pie crust, which is the usual. What I got did not initially look like chicken pot pie. It had mashed potato topping. When I dug into it, it did have grilled chicken, so I realized that they had served a chicken pot pie that was different from the description on the menu. The chicken wasn’t very tasty. In addition, there were small pieces of chopped up carrot in the pie that was still hard and crunchy. It was as if it was added in as an afterthought rather than cooked with the pie. Several members of our group and I had been there at least on two other occasions. I had found the food was mediocre at best, but at least I got what was described on the menu. This time, the specials menu did not exactly describe what was served. I overheard some staff member say(and I paraphrase) to one of the others in our group that the menu was just a general description of what is served but not an exact description. He was also very rude to her. I think that if they have a description on a menu, especially on a paper«Specials» menu, that it should be an exact description of what will be served. If that isn’t the case, it is the responsibility of the staff to let the patron know about the differences. The substitution of mashed potato for the pie crust did not matter a lot to me. However, other types of substitutions could be dangerous to people with allergies.

This place is clean and quiet; good view of big screen TVs and nice service. The hamburger was just average but cooked the way i ordered it and the option of sweet potato fries was a nice option. The beer was cold and there was a wide choice on tap and in bottles. Most of the diners were coming off the golf course or were meeting people coming off the course. Close to BCCC so good for a quick bite.

My family and I lovee the 9 Iron! Very casual place, great food and atmosphere. The waitstaff is always friendly and attentive They have lots of different crazy beers and my husband loves the variety. When the weather is nice we try to sit outside on their lovely patio and in the winter we like to sit by their fireplace! Very cozy and family friendly!

Had dinner here this evening. Arrived at around 5:30 pm and the place was pretty deserted. One other couple and a lot of staff watching the US/Canada Gold Medal Hockey game. Our server was pleasant and attentive despite the game being on so they get points for that. As an appy we ordered a dozen wings which were flavorful, if a tad overcooked. The wife had the French Onion Soup and Junior order a salad, both of which were fine. I choose the Italian Wedding Soup which I found to be a bit light on the pasta and mini meatballs and overboard with whatever the greens were. However the broth was tasty. As for the entrees, my wife ordered the spinach and mozzarella stuffed Homemade Meatloaf which was served with baked spud and sauteed veggies. She described it as excellent and it was such a healthy serving of meatloaf she wound up bring half of it home. Both the kid and I ordered the Open Sliced Steak Sandwich, which is supposed to be one of their specialties. Specialty or not, I must say it was a bit of a disappointment. First problem was that they got the order wrong. The dish is normally served with seasoned roasted potatoes but junior asked if he could have fries instead. Although the answer was yes, his dish was delivered with the roasted potatoes, not fries. Personally I think he got the best of that deal because the roasted potatoes were REALLY good. But still, you should get what you asked for. Our biggest problem with the dish was volume which was the exact opposite of my wife’s experience. Not with the veggies or with the potatoes, which were served in abundant quantity but with the feature. We were left feeling like that old lady in the 70’s Wendy’s commercials asking ourselves«Where’s the beef??? For a signature dish that is the second most expensive entrée on their menu, one would think that they’d want to highlight it. Additionally, while we both ordered the steak«medium» I was served a half and half mixture of medium bits along with some well done ones. While the mediums were both tasty and tender, the well done were dry and chewy. While we will probably return to this restaurant again., I’m fairly certain I’ll be skipping the Open Sliced Steak Sandwich in the future. As always, this establishment gets a plus for it’s participation in . Also pluses are that they offer free WiFi and if you happen to be a student or faculty of the neighboring college(as my son is), they offer a 10% discount.
