Although I usually get pastrami when I come here, I got a wonderful salad this last time. Everything was fresh. I love coming here whenever I come to Palm Springs. I think its better than Sherman’s. The sandwiches are so full, a half is a meal and you have the second half to take home for the next day! The desserts look good, but have only had some cookies

I came for lunch with a friend and the meal was ok. The menu offers a large variety of breakfast items, salads, soups and sandwiches. They have a huge bakery selection tantalizing you when you first walk in. I thought the prices were a bit overpriced for the quality of the food. $ 12 for a egg salad sandwich is a little crazy for me. I had the mushroom barley soup, I wouldn’t have it again. Very bland. We ordered a lemon meringue tart for dessert. The meringue was rubbery and seemed to be made more of marshmallows as opposed to the egg white meringue that I was expecting. While the appearance was appetizing the taste and difficulty of actually slicing into the tart to eat it made it not something that I would try again. I would pass in the future.

We were visiting Palm Springs and had heard about Manhattan in the Desert! I had the pastrami sandwich, which was incredible! The French dip sandwich was amazing, as well! They also accommodated a one year old very well! The staff is very friendly and we had a great time!

The food is ok, sometimes soup is too salty or too bland never very consistent. Depending on how busy they are service isn’t ever consistent either. Today wasn’t a bad day, pickles were good, but we didn’t get any sourkraut like we normally do on the pickle plate plate. Don’t know why. I like their salads, breakfast, and beef dip. their menu is like a book, goes on for days…

Food was okay for a $ 37 breakfast for two. Omelets were good. Started with a Banana tart, good as well. One hostess kept opening the door to the patio which chilled me. No idea why, didn’t look like anyone was out there. Not my favorite, but not bad.

I love deli, and deli loves me. It’s a match made in heaven. Okay, so I often am a cheater. I’ve had lots of playing around with Italian, Mexican, Persian, Lebanese, Chinese, Japanese, and Thai(among many others). But still, I always come around to my roots, and I’m forgiven for my trespasses. After all, why should I change my behavior? The menu is 412 pages ================== Everything under the sun. As a customer, there’s something wrong with you if you can’t find something that meets your fancy. It must be a total pain for the chefs referencing the Bible for all the recipes. Stop yackin’, get to the food already =========================== 1. French Dip with Brisket — Sliced thin, it was very tender and moist. With crisp fries, it was most enjoyable.($ 14.99, 4.5 stars) 2. Corned Beef — this where they turned wrong. Sliced thin and on great rye bread, I asked for it lean and it was fatty with a big fat line in the middle of many pieces that was too tough to bite thru.($ 13.99, 3.0 stars) Ah, the bakerie. I mean bakery! ======================== I almost want to keep it a secret, but words got out already that they have one of the best bakeries in all of the area. It’s luscious. Grande. Magnificent. I like it. Recommend: the carrot cake, chocolate croissants, almond croissants, black and white cookies, homentaschen, among the 67 items. Anyone is welcome =============== Gay, straight, young, and old — you are welcome. Transvestites and cross-dressers? There here, too. It’ll make a good kickstart for your Grandma. Which brings me to the name, «Manhattan In The Desert» ============================================ I don’t like the name. It sounds like a retirement home. If they would just add«Deli» to the name, I’d be really happy. Manhattan Deli, and if you must, Manhattan Deli In the Desert. There, I like it much better. Once I got passed I’m eating an Old Folks home cafeteria, I was pleasantly surprised. NY style? It doesn’t have the energy for it. Overall, it’s a 3.5 star rounded up, and my mama loves it.

When vacationing in Palm Springs, we always pass Manhattan in the Desert(MITD) restaurant. Being from NYC, I normally avoid any restaurant that has New York or Manhattan in its name because there is nothing better than original New York. One morning last week while on vacation in PS we passed MITD and decided to stop by and check out the menu. We walked into the lobby which is a bakery/deli counter and we’re please with what we saw and smelled. The menus was large and had many good options for us. We got a table and had a wonderful meal. I had a great pastrami omelette with hash browns and a bagel(it wasn’t a NY bagel, but is was good). The coffee was perfect and service was excellent. My partner has French toast with bacon and he loved it. I am looking forward to going back to MITD when I return to Palm Springs in March 2016. Lesson learned, don’t judge a restaurant by their name. Give Manhattan in the Desert a try, you will love it.

We were a group of 12 and I think everyone got exactly what they wanted. Our table was assigned 2 servers, both of whom were very attentive to all of our needs. The rolls are plentiful and delicious. I got the lasagna with a Caesar salad. The salad was really good, but the lasagna was to die for. So good, and I ended up taking ¾ of it home. So beware, the servings are extra large. Plus, since there was a slight delay in getting my lasagna out they gave me a free dessert(black cut fudge cake!!!) that was able to be shared with half our party. Wonderful food and wonderful service made for an extremely enjoyable and satisfying family meal.

Five stars, hands down, for the buffalo wings. Totally unexpected and amazing. Homemade, Full of meat, seasoned to perfection, then doused in delicious buffalo sauce. I will honestly come back just for these. Beef brisket French dip lacked flavor, so I may not be ordering that anymore. Other than this, service is great.

Stopped by Mahattan in the desert again today for a great lunch… Today we had the turkey club on sour dough ummm ummmm ummmm we asked for a dinner salad to split Luis our waiter as usual was right on top of everything thing he’s a great waiter really he’s very helpful. He even split are dinner salad on two plates for us! Was always around giving us refills on ice tea, bringing extra napkins all these things without being asked… He’s top notch !!! On top of that today we met a nice girl over in the deli/bakery counter. She was very helpful and when I mentioned my husband couldn’t eat rye bread because of the seeds she told us we could always call ahead a day before we come and order a loaf of it without seeds !!! My husbands face lit up!!! We just loveeeee this place!!!

Manhattan’s Palm Springs location is a real treat to visit. From the moment you are greeted at the desk you will be welcomed into this bright and wonderful space. The manager, Kim, showed us to our booth. Be prepared to spend time with the vast array of menu items displayed on these pages that will give you a feel on New York City from the Village to Uptown. The portions are plenty and the service is Devine. Our waiter Kevin added a dose of warmth a personality that left an excellent impression! Before our meals arrived, complementary relish trays and freshly in-store baked rye bread was served. The food was outstanding and reasonably priced. Save room for dessert! Their desert cases offer everything from Key Lime Bars to Oreo Cheesecake. Can you say YUMMY! Can you say PROFESSIONAL? The service and the value continue to blow me away at Manhattan In The Desert. This time I was served breakfast by Luis. I told this young man that I had an appointment and needed breakfast quickly! Within 5 minutes, my plate arrived at my booth! All as ordered– eggs basted medium, crispy bacon. Thanks Luis for getting me in and out in 20 minutes!

Truthfully, I didn’t know what to expect. I go to Palm Springs a few times a year and I hit that other spot that’s close to Downtown. Our local friends suggested, that if we have the time, we should check out Manhattan in the Desert. That was totally the right call! We got seated right away and looked at an extensive menu of deli faves. I got the Patty Melt, the wife got Pastrami with Swiss on Sourdough, my friends ordered The Reuben and Chicken in a pot… Are you kidding me? All of that was awesome, tasty, delish. Next time I come back… this is on my PS rotation. Fuzzy was our server and the service was impeccable. Nicely done MITD… thanks!

I’ve been coming to this location for many years. I do appreciate Sherman’s, on many levels, but I refuse to wait for more than 30 seconds for most places. I have never had to wait at Manhattan in the Desert. I very much appreciate that. Since I’ve moved to the desert full-time, I have been coming here quite often. One of the things that keeps me coming back is the service. I’ve been fortunate to have been waited upon by Leo. This guy is a gem. Not only does he have a smile that brightens the room, but he’s got great recommendations. He’ll check on you multiple times. One of my pet peeves is having to wait to have my iced tea refilled. He never even lets my glass get empty.(No, easy feat. I drink like a fish.) My cousin was in town for several days. We ended up coming in a few evenings, to get dessert. Leo was our waiter for one of those visits. He recommended something to my cousin, which she loved. When we returned a few days later, we had a different waiter. Leo looked over and saw us and came over to chat. «It is good to see you back here so soon!» I’m sure that he had dealt with hundreds of customers in the few days between our visits. I could chalk it up to me being devastatingly handsome, but I will just assume that he’s got a great memory. ha ha Good service aside, I do enjoy the food. I have been several evenings for an early dinner. The fish and chips was excellent. The Italian sausage sandwich completely took me by surprise. I have to admit, I didn’t expect much, but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. The menu read that it was homemade. I loved the texture and the flavoring was perfect. There was one breakfast I didn’t care for. In my head it sounded like chilaquiles, but it was an Americanized version of I’m not quite sure. The soups have always been delicious. The carrot cake has a nice balance of spice and texture. Not too dry, but not the moistest cake out there, either. I had a key lime bar. So rich! I had to take much of it home.

We’ve eaten here before and we liked the food, the service, and the attitude. We saw an ad for Manhattan’s $ 11.99 Summer Dinner Specials, and decided to give it a go. So glad we did. You have to ask your server for the Summer Dinner Special menu. You get a choice of soup or salad(omg the Borscht!), a choice of potato, and veggies, along with your not-the-least-bit-skimpy entrée. He ordered the Borscht and I ordered the salad but next time I’m getting the Borscht. We both ordered the Meatloaf and there were 3 big pieces on our plates! We both ate one and we took home the other two and had meatloaf sandwiches the next two nights. The food was very good. Like Mom made it. We were too full to even share a dessert. We did look in the dessert case on the way out… and they had a GIANT homemade Ding Dong!(I know what I’m getting next time). There were many other tempting items… like the Cream Puffs. Yes, we are hooked and plan on being repeat customers.

This place was tasty. They get. 5 star for their amazing customer service. Best in Palm Springs hands down. Our waitress and manager were very accommodating and made sure that we loved everything we ate. Not to mention that they have amazing desserts. Big size ding dong NY cheesecake Lemon cake Coconut cake Lime bars Banana cream pies And about 20 more… we will definitely be back here on our next visit. Tina is a phenomenal waitress and Albert the manager has a great team. They must of learned from the best.

This was our first time at Manhattan in the Desert. What we ordered: I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak because I wanted to try something different. You have a choice of choosing pasta salad or cole slaw. To substitute one of the salads, add $ 1.99 for their delicious fries. My BF ordered the Tuna Melt and cole slaw. It was about $ 12. He said, «The Tuna Melt was toasted to perfection and melts in your mouth.» The Ice Tea was refreshing. Meal for two came to $ 32. The restaurant was very busy. However, our food was served within a few minutes! Quick Service. We didn’t have room for dessert, but they have many choices! Just check out their bakery on your way out! Next time, we will try their breakfast and dessert! FYI — their menu is huge! There’s something on there for everyone.

Lets start with the seating. Our seats were such you felt you were falling through the seat. My dining companion ran to the car to get a cushion to keep from falling though. Fail. The service. Servers love to reach across your face to drop plates to others, pick up plates(if they decide they want to) to fill glasses, etc. When the food came — there was no rhyme or reason to how it was delivered. They show up — call out dishes and you raise your hand and they reach across the table to hand it to the guest. Fail. Was kind of loud in the area — server stayed in once place to take the order for the table. When I couldn’t hear what he as saying, he only repeated it with out speaking louder or moving. After the second attempt, I put my hand to my ear and waved him over to my side to the table. The food. One dining companion had a salmon platter. The sliced onion was not thin –very thick. It was sliced with the root not removed and served for eating. The tomatoes were barely pink — lots of white and dark green flesh. Fail. My dish was the ½ soup/salad. The«Large Cup» of soup was anything but large. I had the chili — bland. Nothing larger than bread crumbs inside. Meat had the consistency of corn meal. Was not good. My ½ sandwich was Chicken Salad on Sourdough. Bread was THIN and not too fresh. Tomato again was very green — crunchy. A pitiful bit of white flavorless iceberg lettuce was the only other piece besides a large scoop of «chicken salad». Unappetizing. It was dry. The chicken had been beaten down so much it was the consistency of threads. Not a lot of flavor — I was putting salt and pepper on top trying to save it. Not good. The potato salad was the«best» thing on the plate — but again — it was a thick paste consistency and not a LOT of flavor. Salt and pepper helped. Water glass was only filled when I flagged someone down. Another dining companion had a quesadilla with eggs and sausage. He ate only ½ of the quesadilla, ate only one or two bites of the eggs, but said the sausage was good — he normally dislikes sausage so was pleasantly surprised. Place is clean — the pastries look good — but we didn’t try them. There’s enough good places to spend my money in Palm Springs. This place won’t be on the list next trip.
