Since this place was right off the interstate, I guess it would make sense to stop if you’re just driving through. But if you plan to make the most of a wine tasting day in Palisade, St Kathryn is probably a place you can skip. The wines were very sweet and didn’t really seem to have much character to them. It’s an interesting idea to make some of the fruit wines, but I can’t imagine drinking a whole bottle of them for any occasion. We were lectured by our hostess at length about her frustration over trying to kill a fly in the room. I’m pretty sure I learned more about that fly than about any of the wines. The fudge next door was also pretty disappointing, it appeared to be pretty old and the only flavors available seemed to be what nobody else wanted to eat either.

This is the place where we bought the most wine on our weekend tour. We were really surprised about how much we liked the fruit wines. We stocked up for personal consumption and gifts.

I am not a sweet wine drinker so did not taste here. What we did do here was shop! Kathryn’s has the best wine shop in the area… Lots of great wine-themed gifts and unique items. We did some Christmas shopping. Very good service, friendly staff… But I’ll stick with the dry wines next door ;-)

The facility feels very commercial… like they are trying too hard to market all of their gimmicky products. Most of the tasting menu consists of fermented fruit juice like pear, peach, etc. type flavors, not traditional wines. If you like fruity drinks, you will like it here.

They have a lot of fruity and sweeter wines here which isn’t my main preference. When I heard about their peach wine we had to make it a stop on our wine tasting tour. Carlson has a better peach wine. The Pear wine was fantastic and excellent very cold. It whispers«summers here» and lingers on the tongue like a french kiss. Staff is friendly and the pours are generous. If you like fruity and sweet you need to stop here. NOTE: This building includes Talon and St Kathryn wineries and a fudge area(plus gift shops). Go to Talon first, then St. Kathryn and then try the fudge(the tres leches was awesome).

Older lady that does wine tasting is not friendly at all… Wines were great but my friend and I thought service was not the greatest…

Terry was fantastic! She taught us so much about wine tasting and was so knowledgeable. We truly enjoyed our visit, our purchase, and the fudge! We will definitely be returning!

Combo with Talon Winery. Talon is mediocre conventional wine with some odd Portuguese grapes thrown in. St Kathryn has a lot of aromatic but too-stretched fruit wines. Both do five free tastings from lengthy lists.

This was our favorite winery! The wines are wonderful, but it’s the ladies working there that really made it for us. We were a group of eight women laughing and joking and carrying on, and they jumped right in and joined us like old friends. Be sure not to miss this one on your wine tour!

We stopped by St Kathyns & Talons wineries on our Girls weekend to Palasade. This by far was our favorite winery. I love fruity sweet wines. The ladies who worked there were fun the wine was delish and the gift store was huge! Definite a must on your tour stop!

Went on a Palisade wine tour for my friend’s birthday, and this place was my favorite of those we visited. The tasting girl was super nice, five free samples and I enjoyed every single one. Just mind, if you don’t like sweet fruit wine — meaning you have no joy in life — this probably won’t a hit with you. I was a little apprehensive of the lavender wine, fearing it would taste like a mouthful of soap and perfume, and it didn’t at all. Lightly flavored and unique. They’re my go-to when picking up wine at a liquor store now. If you’re in a rush and don’t know what to get, the concord grape wine is a sure thing. (and, as other reviewers have mentioned, it’s connected to the Talon Winery tasting room — convenient! aaaaand they have fudge over there too!)

St. Kathryn’s has absolutely none of the quaint charm that the other vineyards and wineries have. It’s a giant warehouse-type building with mostly fruit wines. The staff behind the bar weren’t particularly friendly(granted, I think it’s because the place was inundated with people and they were overwhelmed). I’m not a fan of fruit wine, but liked a couple of their wines. Mostly because it was hot as Hades outside and their wines were cold and crisp. I bought a couple and brought them home, but when I opened one to drink on a not-hot day, I remembered how much I hate fruit wine. These will be gifted over the next several months. I did find their neighbor, Talon, a much better experience. The people behind the bar were more friendly and their wines(actual wines, not fruit wines) were better. They also have a fudge station where you can sample fudge. Fudge AND wine? Oh yeah. We bought a couple bottles from Talon and some fudge(of course). The fudge was OK; I’ve had better, but I never really complain about eating chocolate. I still have yet to drink the wine I got from Talon, but I’ll update accordingly.

St Katheryn’s is the sweeter side of the two wineries(Talon being the second more dry option). The variety is good and wines are tasty. We particularly liked the Sweet Scarlet and the Lavender. Definitely give these a try. Enjoyed the fudge next door at Talon along with Talon’s Riesling and Moscato.

Do you like fruit? Do you like wine? Do you like free samples? Do you like being able to drink said free samples while you walk down the hall to another spot for even more free samples? If you answered yes to these questions(which I am assuming you did), then come check out St. Kathryn Cellars! St Kathryn Cellars is connected to Talon Winery and they share a beautiful space that lets so much natural light in that you cannot help but feel happy… or that could be the doing of the free samples they give you. Over on St. Kathryn’s side, you will find a variety of fruit wine. I especially liked their peach wine-which I bought two bottles of on the spot after my first sip. It went great with pork, but I wouldn’t mind just drinking that by itself. They also offer a great, sweet red wine that they call the Sweet Scarlet. The bf loved this and I was the hero of the day when I brought this home. Once you head over the the Talon side, you will find more traditional wine selections. Their Riesling was spot on. I could have sat there all day sampling that and chatting with the lady that was dishing out the little goblets of detectability if she would have let me… Come to think of it, she probably would have. The Talon tasting area also comes with a huge fudge case that allows unlimited sampling. Come check this place out if you love wine… or fudge… or sweet ladies dolling out great advice on wine along with charming stories about the local area… I think that should cover just about everyone. See you there!

St Kathryn Cellars shares a big space with Talon Winery — two wineries for the stopping price of one? I’m already excited! Then when I realized that St Kathryn and Talon Winery each allow you 5 free tastes I realized I was kind of in trouble. 10 different wines was a treat, not only because I left feeling slightly buzzed, but because I really got a feel for lots of the wines sold here.(And then I bought some of them.) The one thing that stood out at St Kathryn’s was that so many of their wines are fruit wines. This means they are pretty sweet, but the flavors are really interesting. You can try varietals made from pomegranates, cranberries, peaches, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, rhubarb, elderflower, or lavender for example. They also made more traditional varietals too like riesling, pinot grigio, and a merlot port. If you are interested in buying bottles of wine I don’t think there was one over $ 20 and many of them were closer to $ 15. They also have a fudge factory and other locally produced food/goods for sale inside the building. And in case you were wondering the grape wine makes an excellent snow cone topper in the summer…

St. Kathryn specializes in fruit wines. Great stuff. They are adjoined to the Talon tasting room. Great, informative staff. The wines are created from 100% fruit, so they tend to be on the sweet side — which is to be expected. We loved the lavender wine, the pear wine and the sweet merlot. Highly recommended.

If doing a wine tour, I would skip this one. The Ladies behind the counter are not friendly nor helpful. Now skip on back to Talon and that is a different story. Good wine and friendly. But seriously there are around 23 places you can stop, if you are not stopping in all of them, then don’t stop here.

St Kathryn was the first stop in our Palisade jaunt, and E and I enjoyed ourselves. We shared our 5 free samples apiece so that we really tasted TEN different wines(yeah…we’re sneaky like that) and left with three bottles of wine — two were only $ 6.95 apiece because they had stopped producing that variety. Score! Overall, a nice experience. Not as personal, friendly, or quirky as more backroads wineries, but an okay place to stop. They have a VERY large variety from three different vineyards — Confre, St Kathryn, and Talon, including many fruit wines. They’re easy to see from the highways and a great place to begin your Palisade wine tour :)

St. Kathryn’s is actually connected to Confre Cellars. Confre is really the one that is more into the fruit wine, although St. Kathryn’s did offer a couple of varieties. I particularly liked the Strawberry and Rhubarb and Scarlet wines, which is what I ended up going home with. The sommelier at the bar was pleasant. On the Confre side, I enjoyed the Cherry and Pomegranate wines. This is one of the few wineries that does their fruit wine straight from the fruit, and does not add a grape wine to them. The fudge shop was good, and I absolutely loved the Cherry wine with fudge, it tasted like those chocolate covered cherries that come in the red box.
