Great food every time we visit with a friendly staff and great specials. Appetizer, chowder, entrée and desert was made to perfection.

Always great service. Clam chowder & prime rib are amazing! So happy they let you order the prime rib to go(have had issues with other locations having prime rib as ‘Dine In’ only option…) Love this place

Thoroughly enjoyed the baked fish and fresh vegetables. Affordable prices and friendly staff. Looking forward to my next visit.

Waited 10 min to order our food and drinks. Then another 45 min to receive our food. Had to put it right in take out boxes and had to eat at work and were late returning back to work. Called to complain and only received a $ 15 gift card for a party of 3. We just used the gift card and ordered over the phone. We ordered sweet potato fries WITH cinnamon and sugar and they came with out it. Ordered a flat bread and it came in a regular box piled on top of each other. We ordered onion rings and they came out soggy and inedible. We will not be going back! Be prepared to wait forever for your food and then have it delivered by rude servers!

This is a great road house, though the crowd seems to be pretty much local. It’s right off I-395, a sanctuary for hungry travelers. The staff is awesome! Check everyone else out for food reviews.(it’s great) This place rocks!

Food is good but not for the ridiculous prices they charge now. Service varies. Leah is great at the bar and Becky is a gem of a server. some of the other servers are rude and inattentive at best.

I’m not a fan of the food. I’ve tried time after time to enjoy it with no change. Very friendly staff though

Group of 6 for lunch, very accommodating! Not too far off the 290! We needed to stop to refuel and this hot the spot! Soup tasty w/a lot of clam. Rueben sandwich stuffed to the brim, burgers very good and fish sandwich alright, nothing special.

Just when I start to feel like I am getting bored with the same old menu — they switch it up! The Whistle Stop always has their tried and true menu items but the chef is getting bolder and adding totally new items. They added chicken and waffles to the seasonal menu and it is so good! This is not the type of place you should take a first date, or do a special occasion dinner. The Whistle Stop’s décor is very neighborhood bar-like; A bit dated and no windows. The food is very consistent, the staff is fantastic, the prices are reasonable, the drinks are generous and it is the type of place where you can easily become a regular. The Whistle Stop can get very busy and there is really no good place to wait for a table inside. You just have to stand in the entry area or along the walls out of the way. I would not bring young children here for that reason, and it is more of an adult crowd. The bar is large and is the focal point. A typical wait for a table on peak days/times can be 20−30+ minutes. The Whistle Stop is the local«mecca» for comfort food and has the best staff around.

This is a good place with an extensive menu. It is NOT what you expect from the outside, even the inside is misleading. The few times we have been here the food is delicious, the portions are rather large and the prices are very reasonable.

the food isn’t winning any awards but it is pretty good and even better vs the local competition. The place has a giant bar with a good selection of beers on tap. I haven’t been with the family and sat in the back dinning room or even actually laid eyes on it for that matter as I hesitate to bring them as it seems to cater to the bar crowd more than the family. And this is fine, the staff is friendly enough for me so I’ll get takeout for the family and wait for our food with a beer and a game of keno.

Great place to have a drink and some casual dinner. Food is nothing fancy and slightly lackluster, but if you go in there knowing what your in for it will be a pleasant experience. The prices are really good, specialty cocktails are great. The place gets packed pretty much every night and the wait can be a little longer than others but its a good place if you are going to meet up with friends. My only complaint is that the place is usually packed with regulars so we tend to fee a bit like were invading peoples space, and its clear sometimes people are unhappy with our choice of bar seats, but oh well, its a restaurant/bar i didn’t think there was such a thing as assigned seats outside of junior high?

Good place for dinner and a drink.(If you can get a parking spot.) Food is either hit or miss. i’ve had great meals and some not so good ones. I will go back, but i’ll stick with a burger or something off the grill. There are plenty of regulars at the bar so sometimes its tough to get the bartenders attention, even when sitting at the bar.

I really like this place. Bar is nice and the dining room is small but very well kept. The waitress was extremely friendly. I got the meatball sub and it was the best ive ever had. The fish and chips for 9 dollars also looked good. It did take a bit for the food bit there was a huge party that came in before us

I have been here with my sweetie and friends several times in the last 10 or so years. It is definitely more Bar and Grill than a Restaurant. There is very limited seating on a weekend night, the place fills up. I would stay with their specials, and or sandwich menu. The food overall is about a 7 on a scale of 1 – 10 with 10 being best. As we were seated in our booth right next to the kitchen serving window, I looked to the left and saw a little shelf covered in dust, and put my glasses back on and noticed this is the case with the entire area. It needs a really good cleaning(–1 star). When I see the dining area as dirty, I can only guess what the kitchen looks like. We have had a variety of dishes here. The latest visit, I tried their Rubin Sandwich, which is one of my guilty pleasures in life, and I have had them all over the country. This one rated a 7(generous) on a scale of 1 – 10, 10 being best. The reason for the 7 is that the Pumpernickel bread was a little thin(–1), I’m guessing from being pressed on the grill, and was dripping with grease(–1), not sure if that was from the fries that were loaded on the plate with it or from the grill. The sauerkraut was hard to find(–1). I usually like to dig a little out and eat some on the side, kind of make the experience a little more memorable. There was plenty of Corned Beef, and it was very tasty. Paula was our server and she was fantastic. The service is very good. This is probably what is keeping them alive. The Bar is huge, and takes up most of the building. The men’s rest room leaves a lot to be desired, it’s rather stinky. I was served a Wormtown IPA which was not what I expected at all. It had a straw color, and very cloudy, so I’m guessing I was served the wrong brew. Whatever it was it had a very strange taste to it, and I can’t place the taste, but had a very strong Pine taste to it. I have never ever sent a brew back, I love ALL Beers, and Ales, and look forward to trying something new, but this particular drafted brew had something very wrong with it. They charged me $ 6.50 for it(–1 star). I’m not sure what has happened here, but something has changed over the years, for the worse. I just hope they get their act together, and clean it up. I think rating it 3 stars is generous at this point.

Great for drinks and a burger but don’t venture off of the burgers. When we first started coming here everything was great… Now not so much. Our last trip in we had over sauces buffalo tenders with no flavor. Chicken parm was good except the cup of pasta water in the bowl and the rice with the maple salmon was so over cooked my hubby had to cut it with a fork. Whistle Stop what happened ;(

When you walk in you are met by a large bar that pretty much consumes the room. There are some booths that along the perimeter. Not to worry, there is another room with plenty of tables for your eating enjoyment. I have eaten here quite a few times over the last ten years and have never left disappointed. Not only does it taste good, the portions here are pretty big. If you are looking for a nice quiet place to eat, this is NOT it. It’s pretty loud in here, especially on the weekends.

On Rt. 12 south of Oxford is the Whistle Stop in a building that you might not go into during the day, let alone night, but then you’d miss the great food and atmosphere. The bar takes up most of the space and isn’t an after thought like many places in the area, but isn’t that why your here? The food is very good with juicy burgers and great fries.

This is a little hole in the wall restaurant but the food has good character! I have only ever had take out from here. The first time I got a steak and cheese sub with fries — it was unbelievable! The second time I got a burger and fries — again very good. The burger was a fresh hand packed patty — not a uniformed burger joint kind. The burger was cooked perfectly and the toppings were fresh. I am not sure about how much seating this place has. When you walk in there is a very large bar that takes up all of that first room for the most part.
