Update: Once again visited the Big Biscuit. This time I decided to try to the blueberry pancakes. These are GIANT, which is nice. The pancakes themselves are tasty but not outstanding. I was disappointed because there weren’t very many blueberries, and a $ 2 upcharge for the addition. The eggs and bacon were good as usual. I ordered a side biscuit/gravy to go to make up for my sad pancakes. This is still my favorite brunch spot, but no more pancakes.

The guy who was taking names sucked. We basically walked past him because he just stands there all quiet. The waitress didn’t really know what she was doing and seemed like she wasn’t listening. Food wise not that impressive, basic meal I could do at home. The biscuit and gravy was bland, but not bad. My friend liked her French toast. It’s like a step up from Denny’s.

In the past, I have posted a favorable review of the Big Biscuit at the Shawnee Mission location. The experience at this location was memorable– and not exactly pleasant. The wait time was acceptable for a party of five(I have read prior reviews where large parties did not fare as well). The service was good. As for my order– I requested my favorite corned beef hash and eggs. As I delved into my meal– they made its appearance– not one, not two, but THREE strands of 3″ brown hair stuck in my hash. Yuck. I wish I took a picture but this is not an exaggeration. The server and manager acknowledged the issue, and offered a replacement meal. My recommendation– stay away from the corned beef hair– I mean, hash.

Yummy!!! I’m a definite breakfast foodie. I love the variety. I like the fact I can get my ‘healthy’ breakfast, egg whites & fruit. Then, finish my ‘healthy’ meal w/one of there delicious biscuits. I take mine w/honey. A no frills casual atmosphere & friendly staff!

Favorite breakfast place in KC hands down. Not a national chain and finds that nice mix between an old fashioned diner/greasy spoon and a hoity toity brunch spot. A manageable menu focusing on freshly prepared offerings. Contrary to the name, I found the biscuits to be on the average side, but they were warm, flaky and delicious. I opted for the yard bird which was a nice piece of breaded and fried chicken breast, topped with cheesy and smothered in gravy placed between a biscuit. Chicken was juicy, but a bit on the salty side. Gravy didn’t over power anything. Side of grits were perfect. When I go back, going to opt for one of their signature omelets, which while looking large also appeared light and fluffy.

So so so so good. Friendly and attentive staff. Food was great. They got us seated quickly even though there was a wait on a Saturday morning. Very accommodating to special food requests. We got our food quickly and it was delicious.

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. After walking the Overrun 5K for Ovarian cancer our group of 18 came to enjoy breakfast as a team. Upon arrival we gave them permission to break up our group to facilitate seating. After an hour of watching group after group of smaller parties get seated we confronted the host but then proceeded to watch another 3 other groups get seated ahead of anyone in our party. In the end we took our business elsewhere. Giant fail Big Buscuit. Will NEVER recommend you to anyone or come here again.

It was pretty crowded on a Saturday morning. Took us about 20 minutes to get a table. The wait was worth it. The seasonal pumpkin pancakes are absolutely delicious. They were huge. I could barely eat one. Don’t dare put syrup on them they are tasty without. The eggs were good. If you are a sausage lover make sure you get the Pattie sausage. It is real sausage not the processed type like you find in some places. We requested our hash browns extra crispy to make them just right. We will definitely come back again on a Saturday morning.

Overall a very underwhelming experience. The wait wasn’t too long for a Saturday morning, about 15 minutes. The worst coffee I’ve ever had, the biscuits were nothing special, honestly nothing real was. Service wasn’t that great either.

Great service, really good food. If you aren’t a big eater, only get one pancake as they are as big as your plate. Staff is really young(a lot of high school kids), but they all gave great service. The biscuits and gravy were good, as was the bacon and hashbrowns. There was a wait when we came around 9:30/10 on a sunday, but it was only about 10 minutes for 2 people. I would recommend going earlier rather than later if you don’t want to wait. Will definitely be back! So glad they opened up a Big Biscuit this far south!

This place is very popular Sundays(no surprise there for a breakfast joint). All in all, they had good biscuits and they were very family friendly. I came here with a very large group(9 people, 3 of which were small children). We waited for 35 minutes for a table. It should be noted that most of the people waiting have to just stand outside as there isn’t a lot of waiting space inside the business. Once we were seated, things were fairly quick and we surprisingly didn’t have a lot of ordering issues with a group our size. My omelet was fine, as were the hashbrowns. The highlight was the biscuit. It was delicious. My husband had an enormous side of 2 pancakes(kind of bland really) and a side of biscuits and gravy(which he loved). All in all, it was decent and it was faster service than First Watch.

I’m a big biscuit expert and don’t mind saying so. This was my first visit to this particular location. I took a spot at the bar and had my order taken by Angela within a minute. I noticed nobody else at the bar had food when i sat down. All of us had food 10 minutes later. Others who were seated near me later on as i ate had theirs in under 10 from the time they ordered. I got the Chicken fried steak and eggs(over easy, extra gravy) with hashbrowns and a big biscuit on the side. Delicious. Angela kept the ice water and coffee topped off. Great breakfast/brunch just like the other locations. Quick and attentive service.

I would give BB1 star for my meal but my family loved what they ordered(biscuits, pancakes, toast). The good: huge portions, great kids meal choices(hello, chocolate chip silver dollar pancakes!), lots of menu options, busy(=my little one’s noise doesn’t draw too much attention), and service was good and fast. The bad: no gluten free options on menu, so I ordered an omelette. The Ugly: eggs. The omelette texture was tough and spongy. For the first time ever, I sent breakfast food back. They were quick to accommodate, bringing me scrambled eggs– those were marginally better. Bottom line: GREAT place if you want to load up on carbs! Steer clear of the eggs!

Terribly slow staff. Long waits for table and even longer wait for food. Save yourself time and headache and go elsewhere. We recently went here on a Sunday. Arrived at 8:45 am for a party of 8. Received a table by 9:55. Ordered as soon as the server took drink orders. This is where it got awful. After watching at least 6 – 8 tables receive food and watching them leave we start to get a little frustrated. As we had received nothing. At about 10:45 we started to get antsy. So I went to the greeter station. I complained and asked for a manager. Then a few minutes later I asked our server for a manager, he came back and said the manager was sorry and we’d be fed soon. He rufused to come over. Refused. That upset us a little bit so we told our server if we don’t have our food in five minutes we’d leave. They beat my phones timers. We ate. No discount, no one cared that we were extremely upset. They have a lot of teenage workers. They are clearly not ready for prime time. The food was good, but First Watch will get my future business. The biscuits and gravy was fluffy and fabulous the eggs were perfect and the bacon was raw. Hated the experience at Big Biscuit. Hated this place. Don’t waste your time here, you’ll be sorry.

This was my first time at a Big Biscuit. The menu had lots of great choices with so many things I would want to try but wouldn’t want a whole order of such as the cinnamon role pancakes. If only I could get one bite! I went with the chicken fried steak(okay, but would order without gravy next time), with two eggs(perfectly cooked over easy), country potatoes(wouldn’t want again), and sour dough toast(made with great bread but barely tasted, more like warm bread). My friend did the Belgium waffles and patty sausage. The waffles were okay, not something he would order again though. I have never seen him not eat the sausage he ordered, but they came out cold and tough. He said something to the waitress just so she would know. She repeatedly offered to get him something else which he declined because he was almost finished with her waffles. Although he continued to tell her it was okay, she felt bad and before we knew it, the manager came over to make sure he couldn’t get him something else. He was very friendly and said, «I just want to make sure you got enough to eat.» Then the waitress came back to pick up our check to discount his meal. This was not necessary but appreciated. With so many other places to get breakfast I don’t know that I would go back to The Big Biscuit, but if I was with someone who want to go there I would be okay with it.

I really thought this place just served biscuits. They have a huge menu of breakfast items. I had the corn beef hash which came with a biscuit. That was very good especially with the breakfast potatoes. My friends had pancakes and those were the size of manhole covers. Most people could get away with just ordering one pancake and it will be very filling. There was a small wait to get in and the hostess and wait staff were very friendly

Same good food as the other JoCo Big Biscuit locations. Servings were generously portioned, the staff was quite friendly, and the biscuits were fluffy. My only complaint is the way the tables are crammed in, especially along the front windows. They are so close together that it’s actually difficult to sit down. I elbowed my neighbor inadvertently when we were leaving, which is embarrassing, but I bet I’m not the only one by a long shot. Still, considering the line that forms, I imagine they feel that they need as many seats as they can get.

Good food, good service. I had the ham and cheese omelet with a biscuit on the side and it was very good. Hubs had biscuits and gravy, a little lacking in sausage but still good. 10YO had the kids silver dollar chocolate chip pancakes with bacon on the side, good. Need outdoor seating for those waiting, and need free coffee at breakfast time for people waiting.

Well we have been waiting impatiently for this location to open for months! My family’s favorite breakfast place, and it’s not even close! I suggest the Mayberry or the Big Breakfast. come hungry, it’s not the LITTLE Biscuit!
