A co-worker suggested this place for lunch. I’ll be honest, I had never heard of it before. I ordered the lunch special: a strawberry salad and ½ a sandwich. My sandwich was very good, ham & cheese on sourdough. The sourdough bread was fresh baked, everything is and that’s the draw here. I decided to skip a drink and get a cookie because they were all fresh baked too. Mmm. It was a little pricey but honestly any place you eat lunch these days is $ 9 or $ 10.

Best sandwich shop in Kansas City! Grab the carrot cake for dessert! The bread is made fresh every day and the meat is served in generous portions! I’m craving Adrian’s homemade chicken salad club with thick bacon right now!

Great experience, came in the other night, didn’t know what I wanted as I had never been there before and the worker, a very nice, relaxed kid with curly hair(sorry didn’t get a name) made me an amazing sandwich after I told him to surprise me. He asked what I liked and made one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in a long time. 5 stars, a fantastic experience and great food too.

Me and my sons went for lunch today. I have been several times before. My youngest wanted a BLT for lunch. I have always liked the bread and the best bacon! It was 11:30 on a Saturday. We walked in and there was a line of 8 – 9 people. There was 1 employee, he was cooking, making the sandwiches, and cashiering. We were in line for 25 minutes. We ordered the 1st sandwich and then the second. They didn’t have enough bacon and said it would be 20 more minutes to cook it. WHAT? I have already waited 25 and what bacon takes 20 minutes to cook. I told him never mind just make the 1 sandwich to go and we would eat somewhere else. I went to pay for the 1 sandwich and he said he didn’t have change! So I couldn’t even get that 1. By this time I was a little upset. What a waste of time. It wasn’t this employees fault that whom ever his boss is has got to be the worst manager in the history of managing any establishment. I asked him why he was in this predicament and his answer was simply my boss is usually here but he ran errands. Who would leave at lunch time on a Saturday and with the place in this condition? If this is the manager he needs to be let go and find a new one. This is the wrong career for him. If this was the owners doing, well no wonder they aren’t making enough money to get new furniture without the last companies name on it. Word of advise if you want to stay in business find someone to run your company! Good Luck.

Great food and an ever greater staff… A+++ for excellent customer service. My go to spot for soup and made to order sandwich & salads. The p-nut butter cookies are the best

Very high quality food. The homemade bread was so fresh and good. I had the lunch special with a small salad(very tasty dressing and great croutons) and a half turkey club. The turkey was top shelf and the bacon was outstanding. I finished it off with some wonderful carrot cake that was gone way too soon. All for around $ 10. I will be back soon.

Great food and fresh! BLT is one of the best I’ve ever had. Definitely try the carrot cake and you will not regret it — so, so good.

Best bacon and BLT in town. Great sandwiches and friendly people. Not a fancy place, but it’s great for a quick and tasty lunch.

While we always had friendly service at the Lenexa site, this site in Overland Park on Antioch is RUDE. We called on 2 separate occasions to try and set up a catering. The first time they said call the Lenexa store because they’re closer to your business — when really they are not. Person on the phone argued with me about location and then hung up on me. The second time, we asked for a manager. The person said he could help, but when asked for his name so we had a contact, he hung up on me. Mr. Morris — it is truely a SHAME that we(a large local business) will not be doing business with you, or recommending you any longer.

I have to say, I have been a fan of Adrian’s for many years — their deli meat is the best in KC, and their homemade bread is fabulous. This Adrian’s is located in a strip mall and if you are looking for sleek ambiance, this is NOT the place to go. This is a start setting, quite loud, cafeteria-style with a revolving door of customers. Get your food to go.

It’s cold, spring Saturday in Johnson County and I wanted soup. My dilemma: all commercial chain lunch options like Panera, Corner Bakery, etc would be laden with people! Ugh! Where could I go off the beaten path to enjoy a soup and sandwich reasonably priced lunch??? Well thanks to Unilocal,I stumbled upon Adrian’s Café. So enthralled with what looked to be like a promising lunch selection of soups, salads, sandwiches and bakery items, I thought I knew where I was going… But I went to their former location off of college near corporate woods. Unscathed, I used my phone map app to find and drive less than one mile east down college blvd. to their current location in the Shannon Valley Shopping center. My husband and I entered the sparse, but lovely smelling venue. My stomach growled with anticipation and eagerness. I was struck by the low key menu board. It was easy to identify their soups and hot sandwich of the day… not so much the prices that looked sort of scratched off. The hot sandwich of the day happened to be a french dip. My husband’s mind was made up that second. I was still tentative, especially with the amount of options. I knew I wanted a half sandwich/soup lunch combo for $ 7.75. «What type of bread do you want?» Asked one of the sandwich«artists?» I asked for rye, but he said they only had white or wheat. So I was kind of disappointed at that point. With two lackluster options, I settled for wheat. Then I saw the bread… It was baked in house! HUGE bread! The slices were at least 1.5−2″ thick! There was so much meat on it,(I had turkey and ham) I could’ve made another sandwich. And I really could’ve because who I presumed to be the owner, and the man who checked us out at the register told us we were entitled to the basket of bread ends and butter near the serve yourself soups section. Oh! And I should mention not to forget to get a red cafeteria style tray at the start of the line when you first order, so you can carry all your food. We each needed one as my husband decided to try the chili and I got the gumbo soup. I should also mention right before you pay there is a small section of homemade looking cookies that I had to refrain from, considering how full I imagined I would be considering the intimidating looking sandwich I had ordered. Everything was delicious. My husband suggested I write this review, and mention that he thought his french dip was the best he’d had in a LONGTIME. I got to try a bite of it too in the yummy cup of au-jus that accompanied it, and it was GOOD! So when you drive up to Adrian’s you’ll notice the name, «Adrian’s Café» and below it, imported provolone cheese. Random. And the tables and chairs that make up the seating in the restaurant all say Larry’s Giant Subs with a cartoon gorilla. Adrian’s kind of looks like, and feels like wearing two different socks. One is a dress trouser sock, and the other is a low cut tennis shoe sock. They both protect your feet and function as socks, and nobody really cares. It’s just a little odd if someone notices and you think, «huh?» But, somehow I was okay with all these little random pieces because the food was actually pretty decent and fit the bill.

I think I just ate an entire shaker of salt. I ordered ½ tuna sandwich and a cup of chicken noodle soup. The tuna was salty and just ok. The bread is the best thing they have here. They have covered up all their ingredients so you can’t see through the window like a subway. I want to see the toppings! The soups are not labeled and you grab your cup or bowl and serve yourself. I made a mess. It did not pour so easily out of the ladle for me. Next you get to the cash register where I did pay with a credit card whether the owner likes it or not. He is creepy and has shown me every time that the water dispenser pours out of the little tab on the soda machine. Yes, I’ve used these machines many times before thank you, and I’m not going to try to steal your soda. The soup was so crazy hot I burned my tongue. Decided to eat my sandwich first all while stirring the soup and watching the heat escape for 15 min before it was at an edible temperature. So salty it was disgusting. Waste of $ 8. I won’t be back.

I mean its a step above the typical sub and simple sandwich type place, but not anything very special. I had the most bland corn beef here recently, and while the bread may be the best part of it, there is an art in making a good sandwich, & it doesn’t exist here. I requested pickles, and the counter girl acted put upon, as she returned from the back with pickles. The format leaves a lot to be desired, with soups, salads. & cookies available all in this odd counter formation. Not in a good way either. Sloppy and unorganized. The«credit card» sign as as phony as the owner, when I indicated I didn’t have cash, suddenly they were able to process my credit card. The owner appears to be a little surly, and worse the place is often a mess right after the rush. I don’t eat on dirty tables, that’s another reason I stopped coming in.

Fail. I walked in today right at 11am. I opened the door and one of the employees was yelling expletives. There were dirty trays every where. The counters had not been wiped down. When I asked for a sandwich, the girl behind the counter asked if the sprouts were fresh. The kid yelling expletives said«fresh enough.» What does that mean? They were not prepared to open from the looks of it. She asked the other employee to get her some pickles for my chicken sandwich. He ignored her. She went and got them herself. She finished my sandwich and told me to have a nice day. Nice girl. She was trying. I realize they had a «large» order going out. But, come one. You still have to be prepared, or at least look prepared. I remember the old Adrians. Awesome place. Clean. Professional. Always smelled of fresh baked bread and cookies. Not this new location. I’m going to eat my sandwich with trepidation only because I’m hungry. I wont be back for a $ 6.95 chicken sandwich with no chips or even a cookie. Really? It is a pile of chicken, bread, wilted lettuce, mashed tomatoes and soggy bread.

Best Turkey Club around! They also have a baked turkey club on Fridays which is delicious. Service is mostly good, a few bad eggs, but the rest of the staff, the owner, and the food make up for it usually.

This place is an unexpected surprise. Came here on a recommendation after a long morning of running around. We were desperately hungry and had absolutely no desire whatsoever to drive around in search of food. Since this was in the same shopping center we were in… we walked in to get some sandwiches… OMG talk about never judging a book by its cover(or a café by the setting)…the basic and simple counter and shelves hid the fact they provided amazing sandwiches. The bread was fresh and thickly sliced for hearty sandwiches. The produce was fresh as well, and the sliced deli meats tasted amazing! In fact, I was quite tempted to buy a loaf of their whole wheat bread, it was that good. I ordered the lunch special: ½ sandwich(roast beef on whole wheat with everything and spicy mustard) and soup(gumbo, not great, but no complaints either). My boyfriend ordered the corned beef sandwich and grabbed a bag of chips… giving the way he inhaled the food, I’d say he liked it. Definitley a hidden gem!

I have mixed feelings about this place, a relocation(but not a reboot) of the old Adrian’s Café that was located just down the hill. The Good: The sandwiches are the best thing about this little shop, which seems like a good thing overall. They are made with beautiful fresh baked bread — I had a half French dip with au jus, which was stuffed, nothing skimpy. The Bad: The potato soup was hearty, but not particularly savory, it was definitely underseasoned. All you could taste was the doughy, undercooked f
