Blue Star Cafe

I am a lifelong resident of this special town called Ottawa but I’ve seldom visited this business in the last 10 years or so since it moved to its new location. After dropping in alone one Saturday evening to check it out once again I was completely taken back by the quite atmosphere and the very clean look. We seldom
Eat Chinese so I was excited to see the buffet. Very nice display, and many choices. Food was amazing. Service was perfect and the price was well worth it. I plan on going back way more often and spreading the word to my friends about this little gem in Ottawa.

We were a group of 9 adults and 7 children and were immediately seated at noon on a Saturday. Our server had a «can do» attitude and was whizzing around in a way that made me remember back to my days as a waitress when bosses were always expecting «hussle» in our steps. She was funny and smiling and always right around the corner with drink refills and quick to whisk away those dirty plates. She is the reason for 3 stars instead of 2. Service matters, and she was wonderful.
–Hot & Sour soup was bland. I prefer much spicier.
–Both the noodles and the fried rice were also rather bland, perhaps the plainest version I’ve ever seen of each.
–Egg rolls were good, so were the potstickers and chicken on a stick
–I tried little bites of most of the meat dishes and found them OK. Again missing some real zip!
–Everyone in our party enjoyed the selection of hard ice cream at the end of the meal. That was a really nice touch. We all agreed that Cotton Candy is a manly man’s flavor after tasting it! That and mint chip of course!
There’s room for improvement here, but if my fellow dinners wanted to come back I would come along again.

I will never eat at this restaurant again. I used to like their food but after seeing how dirty they are I am disgusted.
They were making crab rangoon right by the buffet, instead of in the kitchen, with their bare hands, no gloves. The man at the cash register helped someone then came over and started making the crab rangoon again, he didn’t go anywhere to wash his hands first. That is not sanitary!
Every other time I have went they were loudly clanking the silverware in the dining room, which is not relaxing.
Another time I went to the bathroom and it smelled like someone was smoking a cigarette in there. Which makes me wonder if they smoke in the kitchen and the vents let the smoky air into the bathroom. I know the kitchen staff smokes because I have seen them outside but in cold weather I have never seen them smoking outside.
This is not a pleasant or appetizing dining experience.

Decent buffet but has gone down over the years, food not as good as it used to be and normally cold, best bet to order fresh, a lot better that way

Excellent breakfast! Eggs perfectly cooked, and tasty coffee. Good food at a great price. Well worth the stop on our way back to Utah.

This is Good place to go. they have morning breakfast in American style And Chinese buffet start afternoon… wooow…

The food here was terrible! Everything seemed tasteless and slimy. The restaurant was dirty. I cannot imagine returning.
