Place, atmosphere was ok, I like the fact that in the middle of dinner the staff gets up and welcomes everybody to a traditional Greek dance, however sitting inside the music was way too loud, I felt I was in a night club that we actually asked to be moved to outside seating. As for the food, yes they did have authentic Greek food but it was horrible! The spinach pie was burned, the meatballs were burned, the kalamari, forget it, we could have broken a window with it, The octopus was hard and overdone, do I need to go on with everything else we ordered, I believe you get the point. To make matters worse as we were ordering all our food the waitress couldn’t pronounce the plates and when the server who was serving our food she had no clue either and didn’t know what each plate was nor pronounce it back to us. Seriously!!! If you are a waitress/server shouldn’t you first know what everything on the menu is and most importantly at least know how to pronounce the entrées???

Can’t decide if you want to go to a night club or go out to dinner? Well at Taverna Opa you can do both! After 7:00 pm that is… I recently came here for a going away party. I really think this place is best for celebrations and not just a regular dinner or date night. They were able to seat or party of nearly 20 people. The belly dancing starts at 7 with very, very, very, loud music. And thousands of napkins thrown from every direction. The food itself is pretty darn good. I split a bunch of appetizers with my friends as well as a pitcher of sangria. Did I mention FREE hummus and pita? I had a fantastic time and was so full by the end of the night. I would highly recommend celebrating your next birthday here!

This was a VERYFUN place. I ended up going here 3 times in one week due to proximity of our hotel. The belly dancers were really entertaining and the food was good. I think this place is really great to be entertained and have some fun.

On a quest for decent Greek food during a short stay in Orlando and found it at Opa’s. A casual and lively place for sure. The staff was attentive, the shrimp, tsaziki and eggplant starters were great, the pestle crushed hummus with garlic was excellent. The grilled lamb chops also excellent, a few points off on the beef kabobs… great taste, but too much fat and gristle made it a chore to eat. C’mon chef. We got there early enough to be at dessert(a very tasty philo) to then enjoy the festivities starting at 7pm… the dancer was talented and great with the kids and there are a lot of paper napkins flying around. A fun time with great food!

I’ve been to Greece before and this place is legit! The salad is just as I remembered it. We got the cold meze platter and it was delish. I highly recommend this place and would come back again!

Meh — I feel like the belly dancing and napkin throwing is raising the bar way too much on this place. It’s a gimmick and if you remove it, I don’t know that there’s all that much left to talk about. I sat outside and so I didn’t really get all that extra stuff — I was left to base my opinion on the food and service alone. — My party of 15 got glasses of water first. We ordered pitchers of Sangria and got them — but never got any separate glasses for them. So we either drank Sangria or Sangria-flavored water all night. I asked for another glass for the water, was told«Sure!» and never got it. — we got a lot of appetizers but only the Greek salad came with a serving utensil. So the whole table was made to take from the apps plates with forks that they had already been eating from. That’s kind of gross. — I saw that the hummus was hand made — that sounded cool. I didn’t realize that I had to hand make it myself. We got several dishes of chickpeas that we crushed ourselves there at the table and the resulting hummus had no flavor. It was like it was just chick peas — no garlic, tahini, lemon, salt etc. just bland crushed chick peas. — Flaming cheese tasted good but so would melted cheese I made in a frying pan at home. Melted cheese is just a universally awesome thing, like bacon. I feel the gimmick of lighting it up at the table is what makes people think it’s better than it really is. — Calamari was rubbery. — The grape leaves were pretty good, I liked the flavor of the titziki too. — we only got one round of pita bread, apparently it didn’t matter that we still had 3 half-full bowls of crushed chick peas(I won’t call it hummus) — I got the surf & turf for my main meal. It was ok. The lobster was tasty and cooked well. The filet was very small and a bit fatty. It came with bland rice and a single potato wedge, like one triangular French fry… Overall I think this place is a lot of show and not a lot of substance. Belly dancers and throwing napkins might make for a fun time but it doesn’t automatically make it a good restaurant I’m afraid…

Someone recommended this place after having a late dinner here. They said the ambiance was wonderful and that it was loud and involved everyone so I decided to give it a go. Had dinner around 6, ordered the Greek salad and added chicken. Took a while but they entertain you with a belly dancer for 20+ minutes and get people up on tables and throw napkins everywhere. The music was a bit confusing, threw me off because it’s a Greek restaurant and there was definitely Arabic music. Not too sure about the correlation there but it happened. My waitress sort of sucked, long face the entire time. However, my salad was delicious. I ordered the baklava for dessert and it was WAY too sweet, drenched in honey so much that I couldn’t finish it. Perhaps I would have had more fun if I would have dined a little later that night.

Came in with a group for a dinner reservation, celebrating a college graduation, it was so much fun! Let me just first advise that if you are someone who likes peace and quiet, then this place is not for you. It is pulsating with music, people dancing on the tables, and napkins flying everywhere! It is almost like being at a nightclub. It was fun, our group had a blast, we had a nice dinner of chicken breast kabobs, Greek beer and one of the hot platters. Service is friendly and constantly checking on your table, making sure you never stay dry and always have a drink ready! I definitely would like to come back again!

I am giving this place a five star rating and if i could give it more than that i would have done it! Everything is excellent starting from the hospitality of the staff to the food taste and portions, not to mention the happy atmosphere, everyone is dancing! The place overall is a one of a kind in town, best greek food we’ve ever had, the manager was really super nice, the place was so busy and we were on a wait list, after they found us a table inside, we requested to be seated outside as the weather was pretty, the manager(maybe the owner, not sure) came to us and put couple of tables together because we were a big group(around 12 persons), the waitresses are all very nice, everything is so organized, the belly dancers are very nice they came to all the tables outside and danced with everyone of us, and took pictures with us!!! Appetizers were very good, main courses are so tasty, and last but not least, the Dessert! Omg!!! Everything is so good!!! We had the Kunafa and that was a piece of heaven! I highly recommend this place to everyone looking for good food and fun atmosphere, also the place is opened till 2:00 am so if you’re visiting orlando for a vacation it will be the right spot after a long day at the parks especially that most of the restaurants close by 9:00 or 10:00pm

Opa! This place is a must-go especially if you are attending a convention with a big group in Orlando. It is located in Pointe Orlando. The place is filled with fire(from the flaming Greek cheese and flaming shots), belly dancers and napkins(Opa!!). This is not your Medieval Time where you watch a show while eating, the entertainers are interactive, they would come to your table and dance on top of your table. You could stand on your chairs and move your body following the lead of the belly dancers. When they say Opa they would shower the guests with napkins instead of breaking the dishes(my party was told by the server to not break anything). By the end of the night, you would be surrounded by napkins everywhere. Our group ordered several dishes to share. I highly recommend the flaming Greek cheese, it’s beautiful to watch and the cheese tastes great. The hot meze appetizer platter offers a little bit of something for everyone. Their hummus and souvlaki platter are excellent. The highlight of our night was the amount of shots my group took. I would say the shots definitely added to our whole experience.

I give this restaurant a one star, for starters the waiters took forever to bring us food, or even drinks. There was tissue all over the floor which is okay because its traditional Instead of breaking plates but it was so much the tissues were on our shoes stuck it was pretty discussing. The waiters didn’t know what or who ordered their food so they would take your food around asking people that was pretty annoying One of the ladies who brought out food(octopus) didn’t know to who it belong she spilled the grease all over my pants and didn’t even say sorry, excuse me or anything which I found SOOOOO rude. The music was so loud you couldn’t even speak to anyone without yelling Not my cup of tea & my jeans are permanently stained * Whatever will never go here again

Food poisoning ! Worst place ever, appetizer was bad chicken, rubber calamari, and other crap that kept me on the toilet all night. Avoid this place at all cost or just bring your starving mother in law.

First time going to this restaurant and will definitely go again. You won’t be bored. Friends and I(six of us in total) went on Friday for 6:30p reservations. We were a little late(arrived by 6:45p) and just waited maybe 2mins to get our table ready. We apparently came right on time because the Greek traditional entertainment starts at 7p. Instead of smashing plates, they throw napkins. It’s amazing and fun. We started dancing with some people sitting behind us. And yes they encourage you to dance on top of your table. Of course after you’ve finished your meal. Your waitress will put tables together and probe you to join her in a dance on top of the table. Haha, I love it! My friends and I really enjoyed this place. Food prices are expensive. Each of our meals averaged $ 30, but I think that’s common for I-drive restaurants. Tip is to do Valet, only $ 12. We parked at the nearby hotel garage and paid $ 20. We parked there because we weren’t sure where Opa’s parking garage was. Lesson learned.

Cannot say enough about how much I love this place! The food, the atmosphere, it was all great! We ordered the fried cheese, which came out on fire– so cool! The hummus was home-made too and was delicious. Halfway through the meal, a belly dancer came out and it was so fun to watch her. She rocks! Plus, it’s in a really fun area so that you can walk around for after dinner drinks or dessert. There are lots of places with live music around too.

This place is pretty interesting. They put on a show with crazy dancing on the tables, a belly dancer, and loud music. It’s definitely jumping. Normally, in my experience, this is a recipe for mediocre to poor food and sometimes the same for service. This is not the case at Taverna Opa. I felt that the service was outstanding. We had a pretty big table and everyone seemed to love their food. We had saganaki for an appetizer — perfect. I love the home made pita. I had the whole fish for an entrée and they nailed it. Highly recommended. I also tasted a couple of the lamb dishes(which I was debating initially) and you couldn’t go wrong with any of those dishes either. Fun experience if you’re okay with loud and entertainment all around you. If you’re looking for great Greek food then you’ve found your spot.

Looks like probably a more fun place to go if you actually ate there and were drunk(which was neither for me). The food was decent, but I wouldn’t say particularly outstanding. When I went to pick up my food, they were playing Indian music(?). The lady taking my order on the phone had no idea what Chilean sea bass was, although it is on the menu. Sauteed veggies were over-sauteed. Sea bass was okay, nothing special and a little on the fishy side. Greek salad was less of a salad and more a conglomeration of large grilled veggies, but that may have been my fault for not more closely looking at the menu. All in all, eh. Maybe I’m spoiled with having had much better Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food, but it was really on the disappointing side.

Man — this place was fabulous. We came in for dinner around 6 on a weeknight. The tables are cafeteria style so you will be close to other guests. The service was good but the food was amazing! We started with hummus & pita(yum!), falafel(okay but I’d skip next time) and chicken wings(awesome). We both ordered the artichoke chicken for our entrees and it was delicious. Perfectly cooked and the sauce was out of this world. It came with spinach rice which was the perfect side. I was SO full that I couldn’t even think about dessert but would love to come back and try it!

Atmosphere: I went for my mother’s birthday celebration. It has loud club music, belly dancers, people dancing on tables, and napkins flying in the air so it’s fun in that sense. You can only talk to people near you because it’s very loud and all the tables are really close to each other which forces the servers to squeeze between chairs. Food: The hummus is different in the sense that they don’t purée it for you, they give it to you in a wooden mortar and pestle thingy so you mash it up yourself. The meatballs are yummy and so were the lamb ribs. I’m not a cheese person but my mom assures me the saganaki(flamed cheese) was very good. She also liked her paella dish. I got the meat kebabs and was not very impressed with the flavor but I also was getting full at that point. Overall, good experience.

Taverna Opa offers one of the most fun venues at Pointe Orlando. Serving both lunch and dinner, the restaurant has very different atmospheres at day and night. Lunch is a quiet affair where you can eat outside, inside, and large parties can be accommodated in the spacious back room. At night it transforms into a lively party atmosphere, with much twirling of napkins and shouts of «Opa!» The menu offers all the Greek standards. The cold appetizer platter is a nice sampling of three dips, and the hot appetizer platter offers delicious wings, lamb ribs, and so-so calamari. Complementary hummus that you crush yourself is served with very fresh pitas. The best appetizer is probably the flaming cheese. The souvlaki is actually a gyro served with fries, and your choice of filling. Service is friendly and the wine list is extensive.

TIP: avoid Julia. It’s very disappointing when a restaurant has almost everything right, but all the investment of the owner, in a very competitive market, is tainted because of one person. The slow-roasted lamb was awesome, and it was supposed to be our first course, but we decided to leave ASAP because Julia, our attendant, made us feel unwelcome, as if she had more important customers to tend to, on a wednesday night, with the house not even partially full. I had to almost beg for a second beer, and it only arrived when I was nearly finishing my plate. Perhaps it was a bad day for us or for her. The atmosphere of the restaurant is awesome, give it a chance. But avoid Julia.
