When I was here awhile back I only had the dim sum during lunch. During lunch I also ordered the lo mein and chow fun and it was decent enough, sort of like a fast food Chinese restaurant in terms of quality and taste. This time we were back to try dinner. Boy, we were really disappointed. You would figure for a Chinese New Year dinner it would be memorable on the positive side, just the opposite. The dishes were average in size but the overwhelming problem was the dishes lacked«Wok Heat» the dishes did not have much flavor and were very bland tasting. Aesthetically they looked awesome! But the taste just wasn’t there. The place was pretty empty that night so they also blitzkrieg us with all 11 dishes in a span of 10 minutes. The plates were hanging off the edges and they had no plating stands to place the dishes on to give us more room. The waiters never even changed our plates! I might have to just stick to the dim sum since I do recall it was OK. We were also upset because we booked the table in person a day ahead and already ordered the dishes we wanted served for our night. We also ordered fruit for dessert to end our meal, guess what, they ran out of fruit. You would figure if we ordered lt the day before it should be prepared. Just terrible! Add the letter«E» to lam for giving us a «Lame» excuse. I have yet to find a decent and tasty Cantonese restaurant in Orlando. Maybe some good chefs from New York need to move down here. It would be a Gold mine.

Unfortunately, I’ve just come to the conclusion that dim sum in Orlando pales in comparison to dim sum in South Florida. I’ve been to Lam’s for dim sum several times, and it’s always the same offerings and seems limited. There’s no coconut or mango pudding or sponge cake… and the dim sum dishes themselves are a little pricier than other places. It’s served cart style, which some of my guests did not enjoy because they did not know what the actual dishes are but didn’t want to hold up the cart to ask during a busy service. I still think this is one of the more legitimate Chinese banquet style restaurants, and dinner’s always good for large groups. My favorite dishes are the stir fried green beans with pork and steamed oysters with black bean sauce, yum! They’re pretty good efficient with service. They also serve dessert soup every once in a while! Interestingly enough I was headed to dinner here, and my guests(all American) arrived before me, and they received the green American-style menu, but when I arrived, they swapped out the menus for the red authentic Chinese one. So keep in mind that there’s two menus, so something you want might be on the other one! It’s good for large groups since they have the large round table. Note that portions are generally expected to be shared, so don’t be greedy, and encourage everyone to share!

We got in here with a party of 11 just before the dinner rush, and the service was quick and friendly. We ordered 8 or 9 entrees to share amongst the family, and the food came out quicker than expected. Everyone in our party was extremely pleased with the food, and the lazy Suzan in the middle of the table hardly stopped moving the whole night. My favorites were the stir fried green beans, the garlic eggplant, the fried striped bass, the pork and taro hot pot, a beef with noodle dish(forgot the name) and the roast duck. All in all, the food was great, the service was pleasant and the restaurant was clean. I’d pick this place over Ming’s if you’re trying to decide.

Lam’s garden has the best general tsos chicken, wonton soup, & pork fried rice I’ve had in Orlando. I’ve tried a few other things that were good but nothing really to write home about so I kind of recommend sticking with the popular dishes aka the chef specialties. My only complaints are that its more expensive than most Chinese restaurants(like $ 12 – 15 per dish) and that they don’

Amazing egg tarts! I love the flaky crust on the egg tarts, and the custard was also on point! I grew up in Hong Kong, and eating egg tarts was a big part of my life. The egg tarts at this place reminded me of H.K. egg tarts. Absolutely delicious! Although the size of the egg tarts seemed to be a bit on the small size. All of their other dim sums were also tasty. I tried their chicken feet, BBQ pork buns, thousand year egg & pork congee, shrimp dumplings, and shrimp rice paste. The size of the shrimp dumplings was smaller than what you’d normally see at other dim sum places. The congee tasted good, but it had very little eggs and pork, which were vital part of the dish. They are pretty cheap with their portions/ingredients, but they do have some tasty egg tarts!

After writing a review for Ming’s Bistro a few days ago, I was in the mood for more dim sum. Not wanting to risk a wait at Ming’s, and for the sake of comparison I went back to Lam’s Garden. My first and only other visit there was about a year ago and I remember it being decent. It fulfilled my craving but that’s about it. I’d say this visit was the same. I was dining alone so I couldn’t sample much. I had the chicken feet, bean curd rolls, pork dumplings(shaomai) and fried taro(wu gok). The chicken feet were great. The bean curd rolls needed more filling and less wrapper, but had a good flavor. The pork dumplings were too dense for my liking. And the fried taro was sadly bland. I also ordered sticky rice(lo mai gai) but took it home to freeze for another time so no comment. I still need to try Chan’s Chinese Cuisine, but for now Ming’s is my first choice for dim sum and Lam’s will be the backup when I absolutely don’t want to have a wait.

After the Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Lakers game, which the Magic won, we headed to Lam’s Garden for a bite to eat. We arrived at 9:25PM. They close at 9:30PM, but they seated us with no problems. Great food and great service. We were not rushed at all. It’s a family-style feast. The 5 of us boys can definitely eat and the amount of food we received was perfect. We were stuffed! We ordered, shared, and enjoyed: *Roast Duck — our favorite. Very tasty. *Stir Fried String Beans with Minced Pork *Pork Chops with Peking Sauce *Beef Chow Fun And plenty of white rice for everybody. The Lazy Susan in the middle of our table made it easy to move and share the food around.

Ok this was my first experience eating Dim Sum sooo I can’t attest to the quality of the food. The ppl I was with loved it but they’ve been known to have… eclectic tastes lol. It was a cool experience, they have 2 menus 1 for gringos and one for ppl in the know lol. The first menu is pretty standard American Chinese, the second is where you find the eyeballs and tripe. I tried all kinds of stuff, 12 diff things and didn’t really like anything but I think it was my unfamiliarity rather than the food. Try it, it’s worth the layer on your onion. PS there’s a puppy store next door! Yay for holding puppies

I WOULDNEVERCOMETOTHISPLACEAGAIN. Came inside the restaurant and was quickly greeted and seated with a dinner menu. Be sure to ask for a dimsum menu. They wont just hand it to you. We were not served our drinks right away, we had to wait around 10 mins from coming in to actually order our tea. We ordered off the dimsum menu during«off» hours even though this place serves dimsum all day, its not the full menu. The dimsum menu doesnt have much variety. They cover majority of the popular canton dimsums. It took 30 mins to get our 6 dimsum when there was no one in the restaurant besides one other family. We ordered beef balls, Chao chow dumplings, spare ribs in sauce, beef tripe but on the menu it said beef intestines which were completely different from what i expected with a price of $ 5.50, very very very salt thus i ordered rice, apparently for a small bowl of rice is $ 2up. We also had the beef rice paste which they call here rice rolls with beef. It was hard. Rice paste is suppose to be soft and chewy. This was hard and i didnt want to eat it. When we asked for the check, the total was a ridiculous price. He didnt even give us fully the check but just asked for the payment method. I was wondering why the price was so high, i didnt even get a chance to see the individual prices of what i ordered. I am very disappointed to the point where my bf had to calm me down. I will never step foot on this territory ever again. So disappointing in so many ways.

Not sure if it was because we came during off dim sum hours but my parents really didn’t like it. They didn’t properly cook some of the foods and the rest were just hidden by filler food and bland. Personally, I just didn’t care for it. It’s odd because my family visited not too long ago and I don’t remember it being this mediocre. Maybe come during the prime hours or find another dim sum place.

Tonight I wanted Chinese and they are open late for a Sunday night. This place services authentic Chinese food(not that typical fast food Chinese food). We ordered the Pork with Clear noodle soup(the #7) to start. It’s one of my favorite things there. The soup is a lightly salted broth with pieces of tender sliced pork, pickled vegetables, cabbage and the clear noodles. Mmm, I could eat a whole bowl all by myself(the bowls serves 2 – 4 people). We also ordered the Chicken Egg Foo Yung. One of my husband’s favorites(he usually gets the House Special one). It is basically like a chicken omelet with onions and bean sprouts topped with the Egg Foo Yung sauce(similar to gravy). It’s good and simple, nothing adventurous. Another dish we ordered tonight was the Beef Pan Fried noodles. It’s thin egg noodles fried and topped with super super tender pieces of beef in a brown sauce with vegetables(carrots, onions, and Chinese broccoli). Oh, the crispy parts of the noodle not doused in the sauce is so yummy. I hate when my husband mixes it all up because I like the different textures as I chew. Hehe. My son is a picky eater but he will eat the pieces of beef from this dish with rice. If you’ve never been here, the front of the restaurant displays the fresh seafood they have and yes, they do really use to cook. They have plenty of dishes if you want to try to be adventurous. The décor and furniture look as if they first opened in the 80’s, complete with the traditional Dragon and Phoenix art piece. Come early on Saturdays or Sundays as the serve Dim Sum and it will be packed during peak lunch time.

Can we get dim sum? This is a constant question from my husband who craves dim sum any time of day. This is one of the places in Orlando we visit to satisfy his craving. I don’t mind it because it’s a quick place for lunch and there is a lot of variety. The restaurant is located in a plaza on Colonial Drive that wouldn’t catch your eye normally driving by. Recently we came here on a Saturday when it was reasonably busy but we were seated right away. Immediately after arriving, the carts come by with all sorts of steamed dumplings, fish balls, and custards. My favorites are the fried shrimp balls and turnip cake. We also enjoy the Chinese broccoli with our meal but it is quite an expensive add-on. They also have a full menu to order from. We’ve dined here for dinner before, but this review is only for dim sum. We watched the table of three next to us grab just about one of everything off the cart. They also ordered off the menu as well and took home to-go boxes. Be careful! It’s easy to get carried away and end up with a table full of food(and a huge bill) at this place because you’re hungry and the food is easy to grab. My biggest piece of advice is to start out slow and you can always request items off the cart later… Or be like my husband — eat everything and end up a happy camper.

Wow. Just one trip to Lam’s has me thinking that all my past treks to Orlando for dim sum have been such a sad, unfulfilling disappointment. The only two other places I’ve been for dim sum in Orlando(that I can recall) are the one place right down the street on Colonial and the other one on International Drive. DH and I usually went to the dim sum place on I-drive. I’m so glad we decided to give Lam’s a shot, as this is now our go-to for dim sum. Everything that we ordered tasted fresh and not frozen. I’m not a huge fan of shumai but Lam’s pork shumai was so flavorful and juicy. The seafood shumai was equally delicious. The fried shrimp balls looked greasy when they first came out, but they weren’t at all. I thought they were going to be subpar compared to my former usual spot, but they surprisingly were not! I can go into more detail about the other dishes we ordered, but I will sum it up to say that all the dim sum dishes that I’ve tried previously and didn’t like, I do now. I’m realizing now that I never liked those dishes because they weren’t prepared well and/or were not fresh at all. Thank you, Lam’s, for helping me expand my palette for dim sum! :D P. S. — The food is not only delicious, it’s not overpriced!

First the Dim Sum. Note: Only served at lunchtime and there is a separate Chinese menu which includes Chicken Feet. Items such as Salty Pepper Squid, Shrimp Toast, Hunan String Beans, Har Gow, Fun Gow are superb. Dinner is just as good with portions being double of the dim sum portions at lunch. Service is fast at lunch with carts flying around. Dinner is more subdued. The dinner for 2 specials are way more than 2 people can eat. The owner is always present at the door at lunch greeting you. We don’t go anywhere else for Chinese!

Came here for a big party. And it seems just about every table which are mostly round serve 6 – 8 tables. Service was good for as many people that we had and there were maybe 3 – 4 tables just like us. We ordered a ton of items and the whole tables(2 tables) all shared. Not sure what everything was but I’ll try to explain. I know one item was crispy beef. This by far was my favorite crispy it was and it was sweet almost like orange chicken. Also had an eggsnest noodles with beef on top. Fried seafood(conk, shrimp, squid) Shrimp fried rice, spinich and beef. Everything was very good, it wasn’t amazing but for a big crowd the food came out in a timely manner and tasted good. Stamp of approval in my book! Was just a little weirded out by seeing display of live fish in the fish tanks.

If it weren’t for the dimsum and how good it is, I would not want to come here. The service is something that is challenging here. I’m glad that the times I have been here my aunt who is fierce and pretty direct tolerates the service. I just don’t have the patience yet alone effort to deal with it. It’s good to come with a group, so that you get a little bit of everything you would want or to try. I really do like the shrimp sho mai, pork sho mai, shrimp dumplings, fried taro with shrimp inside, beef ribs, and other things that I can’t remember, but whatever is in the carts, just do yourself a favor and ask what is in each container, or just manually look yourself since I swear the waiters do not care to tell you everything and just want to serve you, write what was ordered, and carry on. The struggle. Despite the annoyance I get, I would still come back to get my dimsum fix. Prices aren’t too bad, and like I said the food is pretty good.
