I have known the owners for over 15 years. They have had 3 restaurants since I have known them. The dishes have a very unique taste. Don’t expect the dishes to taste like your usual indian restaurant. Expect it to be a world wind of herbs and spices that electrify your taste buds. I drive an hour and 10 mins just to eat here. I suggest chicken tikka masala/mahkni, buna chicken, vindaloo chicken. Give this place a shot. You will not be disappointed with these dishes I listed.

The Chicken Makhani here is the best I’ve ever tasted. It’s very flavorful. I can’t seem to figure out how they make their rice, it’s perfect. It’s cooked, but not overly wet or sticky. Their onion chutney is awesome. I can’t believe they closed and aren’t going anywhere else. I would’ve liked to have one last meal there!

Bland food. Very bad service. I wasn’t greeted, barely received any eye contact and did not get a «thank you for coming in.» This was my first and last visit.

I really did not like the food at this restaurant. To start with lentils, it was completely bland and they forgot to put salt in it. The chicken curry tasted as if it was prepared in just tomato paste with no other spice. The chicken itself was very hard and felt as if it was stale. This place is considerably cheaper than any other Indian restaurant that I have been to, even then it does not justify the bad preparations.

I’d say 3.5 stars, rounded up. I like the lunch specials here, $ 8 for a main dish with rice, nan, and lentil soup. I generally get the lamb curry, which I really enjoy. Mixed with the nan and the rice, I could eat it all day. Sure, maybe not the best curry I’ve ever had, but it’s still quite good and its location relative to work makes it the most convenient Indian restaurant for lunch. The lentil soup is pretty great too. As for the curry heat levels, choose what you’re comfortable with and then go up one level. That should be about right.

I’m going to have to give this place 5 stars all the way. I don’t care if the service wasn’t all that«fast»…the food was darn good and the owner did great at suggesting dishes to try. So, for our appetizer we had ChickenTikka… boneless chicken pieces marinated in yogurt, garlic, ginger, vinegar and spices cooked over charcoal in clay oven. The grilled onions that came with it were just as good to eat by themselves. They bring out two different small ramekins of sauces. One is pretty spicy and the other sweet. Both very good with the chicken. We opted to try three dishes at once to share by the owners suggestions and split them. All of them come with one big plate of flaky and light white rice. We had the Chicken tikka Masala… chunks of chicken roasted in a clay oven and then folded in tomato sauce. The sauce reminded me of a Vodka cream sauce. It had just enough herbs and spices to make the cream based sauce a complete hit! I think that was our favorite. Then, the Lamb Curry… lamb pieces cooked with onion, garlic and spice flavored curry sauce. And of course, what’s a meal without bread??? You’ve got to try the Keema Nan… minced ground lamb and green peas cooked with ginger, garlic, curry sauce and spices. This bread is PERFECT for dipping into the sauces. Im telling you, you have got to try this place out. You won’t be disappointed. You don’t have to have your dishes prepared spicy either. We didn’t. For our first time trying this place we wanted to take it easy. The next time we will kick it up a notch now that we know what to expect. GREAT Indian food!

This place is really authentic. The first things you notice when you walk in are the all Indian staff, bollywood blasting on tv, and traditional Indian décor on every corner of the room(also don’t forget the strong smell of Indian spices!). Lunch specials here are great. They range from vegetarian to non-vegetarian dishes $ 7.95 to $ 8.95. All dishes are served with rice, nan, dal soup, and onion chutney. I ordered the Chicken Tandoori for $ 7.95. The chicken was seasoned very nicely and the two out of the four pieces were very moist(while the other two were quite dry [but can be remedied with chutney!]). In the end I had sweat forming on my face but I felt pretty full lol. I can’t say this is the best, but it wasn’t bad so I give this an A-OK(3 stars, but 3.5 if possible). The service was attentive. My water cup was never empty for too long and the person pouring it was polite. I want to come back here for dinner and try a curry dish next time.

The food here is excellent. I’ve never been disappointed with any aspect of the food. They have a decent size menu and everything I’ve tried has put a big smile on my face. They lose a star for slow-ish service at times and prices that could be a little lower, especially in a college town. In their defense, it seems to be a husband/wife team that own and operate this establishment, and they’ve always been very friendly and helpful.

Service is awful, prices are steep, but the food is wonderful. I think they deserve a 3.5.

I was torn between 2.5 and 3 stars on this one, but I’ll go with the 3 since some aspects of the meal were good. The main issue I had with Anmol was that for the main course dishes, you get very little meat for the price of $ 13.95. I seriously doubt that half a chicken breast was in the entrée I was served. My boyfriend had the same issue with his meal. Very little chicken. Both of us left the restaurant and went to get dessert because we were actually still hungry. As for the food quality, we enjoyed some garlic naan before the meal, which came with two sauces, one sweet and one crazy spicy. Both were very good, but make sure you have a lot of water on hand before you try the tomato sauce! I ordered the chicken bhuna as my main course and my boyfriend ordered chicken curry. Both of us enjoyed our meals, but not enough to come back and pay $ 13.95 for basically vegetables and 4 cups of rice. It’s just too expensive for what you actually get.

After eating lunch here with the one and only Ricky Ly of Tasty Chomps, I am def. coming back for more Indian food. I never had Indian food before so I was a little hesitant but after trying the dishes, my mind quickly changed. I really love the bold flavors and the spices they use at Anmol.(Get the medium spice, the hot will burn your tongue) Good service, great food, low prices… couldn’t get any better than this.

Anmol serves what I would consider«traditional» Indian food, in the sense that it’s what most Westerners expect when they look for an Indian restaurant. They even have the music videos playing on televisions, which is like dinner and a show. We ordered some spicy shrimp, rice, appetizers and naan to share. Everything was prepared well and I have no complaints about the food. There was so much sauce left, we took it home and added some more shrimp to it the next day. Since naan and good rice are readily available, this was a great money-saving trip for us. We went because we had a coupon to dine here, which then meant the manager or waiter added an automatic gratuity of 18%, based on the unmodified total. I can get behind that as a concept, but it meant we didn’t really have a choice of letting them know how the service was.

When given a choice of Asian food to have, I will choose Indian every time. When given the choice of where, that would be Anmol. Tucked away in a fabulous strip mall near the UCF campus, nestled between a loud college bar and… well…another loud college bar, this place has some of the most outstanding food I have ever eaten. I don’t wast time and go straight for the Chicken Makhani and 2 orders of Naan. If the mood strikes me I will throw in some Daal and maybe some Chana Masala. On occasion I have tried the Mutter Paneer, Chicken Biryani, Veggie Pakora, Tandoori, Vindaloo and Tika Masala. All are outstanding and should be tried. If I had one negative comment it would be that the spice levels can be inconsistent. Medium is not always Medium if you know what I’m sayin’. Otherwise, the food is fabulous and the service is great.

I gave this place three stars because of the appetizer, which was basically friend cheese with an INCREDIBLE sauce! I’m having a hard time remembering the meal.. .which means it was less than memorable. I have meals eaten years ago that are still chiseled in my mind.. .wow. And Ugh! I give up. I’m just going to buy the frozen Indian meals at the grocery store from now on. It’s less expensive, and it’s consistently good.

I’d like to give it 2.5 stars cause really I have had better but I’m not sure I could call it a-ok. I’ve eaten here a couple of times, once for dinner with my husband and another time I just picked up some lunch. For dinner we decided to have the«special dinner for two» deal. You get dal, papadam with chutneys, your choice of curry and gulab jamon for dessert. The dal and papadam were decent and the curry was average. The little dessert balls, well, I’m glad I got to have them, since I enjoyed them the most. For lunch I grabbed the tandoori chicken combo. It came with rice, naan and dal. The naan was kind of greasy, but the tandoori made me sad. When I bit into the chicken, I literally frowned. Maybe I’m spoiled but I just wasn’t all that impressed with this place.

Located in the back corner of a strip mall across from UCF, Anmol is one of those unassuming restaurants that most people will drive right by — and that’s a real shame. The interior décor is fairly plain and dimly lit with a few decorations on the walls and a slightly out of place faded Star Wars bedsheet acting as a cloth over the register counter — look close, you can see that they’re Naboo N-1 Fighters. Most of my visits here have been for lunch, where I’ve ordered from the lunch specials if only to save a little bit of money. Instead of offering lunch portions on the whole menu, they just offer them for a handful of items — but everything I’ve tried has been great. After trying a handful of things, I seem to have settled on the chicken tandoori being my favorite. I brought my wife who was nervous about trying Indian again after a few really disappointing restaurants. She ordered one of the cheese based dishes and had her faith in Indian restaurants restored. Service is kind of iffy here. The servers are nice and cordial but never particularly friendly, and they can be kind of slow to come by for drink refills. The first few times I went there, I felt like they didn’t speak English very well, but it seems I just didn’t have anything interesting to say. As soon as the waiter overheard my friend complaining about the lack of Indian restaurants where she lived, he chimed in and seemed at ease chatting about restaurants in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. The quality of the food, however, makes up for any slight issues I may have with the service.

I very much enjoyed my lunch here. I love that they don’t offer a buffet, but have specials instead. With buffets, so much can go wrong… and usually does. So Yay for that! I’m a fan because the flavors were intense but balanced. I had the Aloo Choley, a spicy dish of chickpeas and potato, ordered Hot.(Not«Indian Hot’, just regular ‘Hot’). The heat was strong but didn’t over power the delicate balance of spice that make this dish lovely. The heat stayed with me for about 20mins after I finished eating. Hot Lips! YAY! Splurged on appetizers(vs dessert… next time I’m getting dessert!) and opted for the mixed pakora platter. Pakora’s are basically a fried Indian dumpling, and while it was described as ‘mixed’ which usually implies meat, I didn’t detect any in the ones I had. It’s so close to work, service was prompt and friendly, I’ll definitely be going back!

he best way to experience culture is to experience it through food. The sights and sounds are incomparable to the distinct tastes of a culture. Right beyond UCF’s front entrance lays a passage to the land of India via the tastes of Anmol Indian Cuisine restaurant. Anmol Indian Restaurant, local and family-owned, is conveniently located in the plaza behind McDonald’s on the northwest corner of University Boulevard and Alafaya Trail. The décor inside Anmol features framed engravings of ancient gods in pose, paintings of decorated Indian elephants, a TV set interchanging between CNN International and some old Bollywood musical, and flyers advertising Taj Mahal imported beer. Indian cuisine is characterized by its use of many rich spices and herbs subtly added to flavor and entice the palate. Each bite into the naan bread or the basmati rice dipped in chicken pasanda is a step into the centuries of cultural history of India. The menu at Anmol is diverse, ranging from vegetarian dishes to chicken and lamb curry. During lunch time, there is a special that includes lentil soup, the entrée dish, a plate of yellow and white basmati rice, and naan bread for $ 7.95. Naan is a light, flat bread made from a dough of super fine flour and baked in a clay oven. Our group orders the samosa and special naan for appetizers. The samosas come in pairs, each fistful fried to a crisp, filled with potatoes, peas, and other vegetables. The special naan is fluffy, tasty and stuffed with boneless chicken tikka, vegetables, herbs and green coriander. For our lunch entrees, we order chicken tandoori, lamb curry and chicken pasanda. These dishes can be ordered mild, medium or spicy. The chicken tandoori is a dish with pieces of chicken marinated in yogurt and mild spices, roasted in the tandoor or clay oven. The clay oven, a traditional Indian cooking method, gives the chicken a fresh, boldly baked taste. The lamb curry arrives with pieces of tender lamb chunks, potatoes and the curry sauce. The chicken pasanda, my personal favorite, comes in a small dish with savory morsels of chicken, in a rich, almond-flavored, creamy sauce. The naan bread, slightly glazed with olive oil, is luscious when dipped into these sauces. The mountain of basmati rice goes well with these entrees also. Unlike in Western diets, meat in Asia is sparse and is used to complement the largely grain-based diets of east and south Asians, where rice and bread makes up most of the meal. The curry sauces help flavor the meal, and by the end we leave thoroughly satisfied. Other dishes recommended include the vegetarian aloo mutter tamatar, made of green peas, tomatoes and potato cooked in flavored curry sauce. Also try the chicken tikka masala, chunks of chicken roasted in a clay oven and then folded in a creamy, tangy tomato sauce. Wash it down with a mango lassi, a sweet yogurt-based smoothie-like Indian drink that balances the more spicier tastes of India. for photos and blog visit:

Anmol has some very delicious Indian food. The way they use spices and curries is nothing short of brilliant. However, the service isn’t that great. You will never get a smile, so don’t ask for one. They don’t know how to smile. Of course, they are very soft spoken and polite, but they also make up new rules unfairly to accommodate their agenda. For instance, they have coupons out in this book of coupons where every restaurant in there has the same deal, «Buy one meal, get a second free.» Every restaurant I’ve used that coupon for has honorably upheld their side of the bargain. The first time I used the coupon, they went from quiet nonchalance to restrained fury. They, however, did honor the coupon. Second time I came back with the coupon, they came up with a new rule saying, «Limit up to an $ 8 value.» Very dishonorable. Then, they later came up with the rule, «Not valid on to-go orders.» These rules weren’t on the coupon, they weren’t in the restaurant, but they were verbally enforced. Later, they wrote up a sign so that it would be official. But, to make a deal with a coupon book and then go back on your word is very shameful. You can’t create new rules because later you’re upset that you have to comp a meal. Every other restaurant I’ve been to has upheld their end of the bargain. Aside from that, the food is remarkable. There is never any wait, and it is in a quiet and calm atmosphere. The cheese cubes dish on the vegetarian menu is my favorite. Also, try the nan. They have many different kinds including garlic nan, whole wheat nan, potato nan. They are all delicious. Also, try anything cooked from the wok. Their utilization of flavors and spices is brilliant. Their food is so good, that they still deserve 4 stars despite not being too friendly and inventing new rules. It’s that good. I love Indian but Anmol and Kohinoor so far have the best tasting Indian that I have tried in Central Florida.
