I grew up in Chicago and on Cupid Candies Co. in Chicago and Oak Lawn, IL. Now living in Orland Park we have had a Cupid here for many years. In fact my 80 year old Aunt used to waitress at the ice cream fountain there in Chicago when she was a kid. Anyway Cupid has always been a treat, but an expensive one, especially the choc/nut candies. When we have an urge, we splurge and just eat and enjoy the chocolate cashew turks. At $ 24 a pound, we got a ½ lb. last week and a small bag of their carmel corn. The carmel corn was ok, but not«Garrett’s» standard, but not bad. There was something wrong with the candy though. We couldn’t put our finger on it, but it tasted stale, the cashews and the chocolate. And the chocolate was a bit whitish when bitten into with a strange fruity taste, but not fruity sweet, more fruity fermented. And one of the pieces had a hair in the center… ouch! I didn’t return it because we had attempted to eat most of it hoping for a decent piece. And the lady was nice there and I had handed her my Animal Rescue pamphlet to look over later which asked for a Cupid gift card donation to be used in one of our fundraiser raffles. So I felt uncomfortable going back there. But I don’t know that we will be back.

Good old-fashioned ice cream parlor atmosphere with adequate service, excellent sundaes, shakes and malts. No long lines out the door or traffic back-ups. Plush Horse gets all the love, but Cupid is a fine alternative.

Only a few steps from my front door and lovevit. They have been here for years and I know why. You feel like your in old school ice cream parlor. Love the marshmallow fluff malts. Very good ice cream and toppings perfect place for the family to have a good treat. …

Cupid reminds me of the old Dove’s in Oak Lawn — brings back a lot of great memories. Chocolate chip mint milkshakes are awesome and the kids that work there always do a nice job. Yum!

Amazing banana floats for a good price. Has an ice cream parlor touch to it and feels unique. My parents always took me here as a kid for a birthday treat and I continue to go as an adult for a nice date. Don’t pass this up and make sure you hit up the mint melt-aways on your way out.

This is a nice spot for ice cream and homemade candies. However, the service can often be a little slow. If you don’t mind a little wait it is worth it. My favorite are there ice cream bars which are handmade and come in all sorts of flavors!

Service was bad. Yes, they are busy and I don’t mind waiting but we were ignored 3 times and had to ask twice for our order to be taken. The first time a girl went to the table in front of us to given them water, looked at my empty table, walked passed and asked the table behind me if they’d like water. 2nd and 3rd time, same kind of water incident but also took their orders yet we had been waiting for 20 minutes before those people had even arrived. Their ice cream is great and my daughter loves this place but I recommend going to the Oak Lawn location over Orland. It may be smaller but the service is much better.

The ice cream is really good, but plan to wait 15 or more minutes to get your order at the counter. There’s usually only one or two kids working here and they make each dish one at a time and it takes forever.

This is a nice ice cream place, but could be a really nice place. I think the problem is that they let the individual table servers each make their own ice cream desserts, so consistency is a problem. Today with our ice cream maestro: we had a root beer float — nicely done but an easy task … a chocolate sundae — nicely done but again an easy task … and a chocolate shake — came out like chocolate milk and was watery rather than thick and creamy. As long as they have so many people making the individual treats, they will suffer from this consistency problem. Could be much better … but the ice cream is still wonderful.

Nom nom nom… I love their vanilla ice cream. How can plain vanilla ice cream with fresh fruit, whipped cream, and nuts taste so divine?

This place has been here forever. Old time ice cream shop and candy store! What’s not to love? It could definitely use a face lift inside — the décor and everything has been the exact same for years but the ice cream is absolutely delicious. It’s probably a good thing I don’t live closer. Root Beer float is heavenly!
