Hands down best Chinese food around. Great food, friendly staff, and a very peaceful atmosphere. Food is always hot and comes out quick. Fair prices for the amount of food you get.

A type of food dominated by countless take out only restaurants with food that kind of seems to taste the same no matter what you order, its always great to have a alternative like china pavillion. For the past 10 years we seem to order the same dishes only changing up in small ways. Common orders consist of ma-po tofu, schezuan chicken/beef, kung pao chicken, chow fun, salt and pepper calamari, China pavillion has key to success with longevity, consistency, quality ingriedents, and a clean friendly atmosphere. The asian/american style of chinese food is done well with taste in mind. I always found it funny that with alot of chinese take out that you can order two dishes that are completely different and end up with 2 dishes that have a sauce and vegetable selection that taste identical… china pavillion keeps that line from being crossed and has continued to keep its integrity as a restaurant and business My opinion gathered from eating at this restaurant for the last 10 years is simply that i have never had a bad meal. When there are leftovers or take out in my fridge, it never makes it 24 hours… Definitely a place to try at least one time, right at the start of US1 post rd orange c. t…Ironically china pavillion is 3 doors down from a chinese style buffet in the same plaza…

The only Chinese food place around that’s great! Staff and pick up service is good. Can’t stand downtown new haven Chinese and Chinese delivery in new haven is awful. Best around!

Had takeout tonight! Have been going to China Pavilion since I was a little kid with my family. Love this place! We order the same thing everytime and it is always consistently good. Favorites: Apps-Salt & Pepper Calamari, Shrimp Dumplings, & Egg Rolls. Entrees: Ma Po Tofu, Kung Pao Chicken, Szechuan Beef and Beef Chow Fun and of course white rice.

Usually a favorite spot and good food, but tonight, terrible service. Was told take our would be 45 minutes but it turned into a 2 hour wait! Customers came up to us and told us how patient we were as they cane, ate and left before us. Once a favorite reliable place but now I would not recommend it.

The food served here is probably the best Chinese food I’ve ever had. I was on a long drive back to NJ from RI and my copilot and I needed some food. We stopped in and were beyond impressed. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated, very clean and quiet. The service was efficient but not talkative or especially friendly. I don’t count this as a negative. We were happy with the service but there was no typical niceties like«Hello, I’m so-and-so, I’ll be serving you» or «How is everything? Do you need anything?» The food was spectacular. We ordered the cold sesame noodles and were pleasantly surprised at their version. Usually the sesame noodles I’m accustomed to are soft, mushy noodles with a heavy, thick nutty sauce on top. The sesame noodle here were much more refined. The noodles were more thin and had a delectable chewy texture. The sauce was very thin and there were red pepper flakes throughout. It tasted like sesame oil and spice. Very delicious. While the chicken dish we ordered was good the highlight was the General Tso’s Tofu. Again, very different from what I am accustomed to. The tofu itself was firm yet chewy. The sauce was a magical mixture of sweet, sour and spice. There was a subtle garlic flavor and plenty of green onion. I consider myself a fan of General Tso’s Tofu dishes because it’s what I order at every Chinese food restaurant I go to, so I say with confidence, this is the best General Tso’s Tofu I ever had the joy to eat. I believe it would leave even a meat-eater wanting nothing more. Prices were on the higher end but reasonable, especially when considering the quality of food. The chicken dish was around $ 14 and the tofu dish was around $ 12. If you live in the area, I’m jealous! Definitely come and eat here!

This is some of the best American Chinese food I’ve had. What I love about the chicken dishes: they always use white meat only. Most take out establishments use dark meat because it’s cheaper. I’ve had a variety of their dishes and they’ve all been very tasty. The restaurant is clean, good service, and friendly.

This place used to have the best Chinese food. Used to! I ordered takeout and got the same thing I always get every time I order Chinese. The total was double what I normally pay and I thought who cares, it’s worth it. Well, the the pork fried rice was terrible and my beef w broc($ 14.55) had a weird fishiness to it. The veg lomein was ok and the boneless ribs were nothing special. My steamed dumplings were not good and egg roles were a disappointment.

Six months ago I would have given five stars, but the last two times we ordered take out the food was terrible. When I picked up my food the second time I told them about how the food wasn’t as good and they apologized. I even asked if it was possible they had a new cook and they said no. When I got home the food wasn’t good for a second time. I don’t plan on going back. I have been ordering the same items for over ten years and all of a sudden General Tso’s chicken is tiny chucks of dried out chicken with little flavor. The pork fried rice was very dry and did not taste as good as it had in the past.

Have been coming here for years and the food is amazing. The only place in CT where I would eat Chinese. Cold sesame noodles, pan fried dumplings, fried rice and sesame chicken are so tasty. Besides the food and reasonable prices, we go to see Anita and Peter. They have become our friends over the years and although we only make it there twice a year, they remember our names and come by to see how all is going. Definite worth the drive!

I’ve been visiting China Pavilion for well over 25 years. The food has always been consistently delicious and service is wonderful. Although I live quite far from its location and do not get there as often as I like the owners always greet me by name with a warm friendly welcome. Here is my best suggestion if you are going for the first time: The General Tso’s chicken is the ABSOLUTE best you’ll ever have. No one else makes it as crispy as here and in a beautiful reddish sauce. Also try the hacked chicken in spicy sauce as an appetizer. This is a cold dish of shredded chicken and lettuce in a peanut butter tasting thick sauce. My favorite dish and have yet to find it anywhere else in CT. Enjoy!

Their takeout is nothing but disappointing. My mother is new to the area and is trying to find the new spot for Chinese(that’s not panda express) and so we stumbled upon this place. Looked promising based of their Unilocal reviews and overall image. We were very disappointed. The portions were so small and for 2 combos it was over $ 30.00!!! As for the food itself — the beef and broccoli was pretty good. Definitely above average but the sesame chicken was terrible. No sauce and really over cooked. Overall, I will not be returning to this restaurant and my search for the perfect Milford Chinese Food hot spot will still need to take place. Oh well, Panda Express here I come.

This place is awful. Its billed as MSG free, but its not. I was here with a big family meal and we all got soup. Then after the soup all our jaws began to tingle. so we asked the waiter if there was MSG in it(even though they say there isnt any) they said yes THEN they showed us a picture of what theu used to prove there was MSG in it. They served meals with broccoli that was ice cold. When we called them ot it, they said it was«for decoration only». This was not 2 pieces of broccoli, this was a SIDE of BROCCOLI! This place is terrible. STAYTHEHELLAWAY!!! My mom got sick, my sister got sick, my couson threw up, the MSG made me nauseous, really bad. If you want to go to great place, try Dragon East in Brandford.

I’ve been coming here for years and the food is CONSISTENTLY wonderful. My favorites are the Peking Duck 2 Course, which they slice table-side. It’s amazing, and delicious. The Kung Pao Calamari is also excellent, and the soft shell crab when in season. The sesame prawn is a nice addition for a dish on the sweeter side. Heck, even the broccoli with garlic sauce is good. It’s all delicious. Salt and pepper prawns, hot and sour soup without the corn starch goopiness of so many other places. You won’t be disappointed here. It’s family owned and run, and they treat you right. I laugh to myself when I see people going next door to that«hibachi» buffet monstrosity. Skip that place — come here.

China Pavilion salvaged what had started out as a disastrous evening when we walked out of Hayama Hibachi restaurant(next door). Every part of our experience at China Pavilion was outstanding from the time we went in to the time we left. Service, food, wait times, staff, and cleanliness were all fantastic. I highly recommend it.

If you enjoy Chinese food that is consistently delicious than choose China Pavilion. It is the go-to place for locals and international students who, after traveling abroad, understand Connecticut(for some reason!) has amazing Asian cuisine! I haven’t ever had a better chicken fried rice or a better egg drop soup in New Haven county.

With an uncanny yet talented ability to remember customers names the owners of China pavilion make you feel welcome as soon as you walk in the door. Whether it’s take out or dining in, you will not regret making the decision to eat at the China Pavion. The cozy restaurant offers all of the Chinese fare you would get from most Chinese restaurants but with class and culinary expertise. This restaurant nails it when it comes to the quality of food and presentation. No dishes full of liquid crap and soggy vegetables that you would get at one of those take-out in places in New haven after a night of drinking. This place is legit, they take great care and pride in their food and it keeps us coming back for more. China pavilion also has a bar area fully stocked and they aren’t stingy on their pours when fixing you a drink. If you’re in Orange, Ct and you have a craving for some epic Chinese fare you will not be disappointed. They are kid friendly and will accommodate any needs you might have in terms of food modifications.
