It’s Applebees, a chain, so … it is what it is, but this one usually has great bartenders and good wait staff. The drinks do take awhile to get, however. We’ve never had one problem with food and this our go to spot if we’re seeing a film in the mall.

Waited 20 minutes to even be acknowledged by our waitress, Mary. We had to ask another waiter to tell our waitress that we were in her section. She then finally greeted us but acted as if we were being impatient, «you need to wait and give me a minute» and didn’t even take our drink order. She walked away! Thanks Mary, maybe you need to find another type of job because you don’t seem to have a handle on this one.

Asked for a quesadilla burger medium served a red one. They took the entire plate back to re cook the burger. They served me the same burger. I would not eat it and refused to accept it due to cross contamination on the vegetables on the burger. They made me a new one. The manager made it seem like my burger was going to be on the house, but when we received the bill it was not.

When visiting Oneonta, I had a late lunch at Applebee’s with my mom and grandmother. My grandmother is 91 years old and in a wheelchair, and when she used the bathroom, the handicapped stall was woefully inadequate. It was almost impossible for her to fit in the stall with her wheelchair, or move around. There was also no toilet paper. I know this is a chain, but please remember your elderly and disabled customers. Handicapped customers beware!

This is really not a restaurant so much as it is a game of chance. Will they get your order right? Will your food have seafood on the plate, even though no one at your table ordered it and you’re allergic? Will their ninety billion televisions and blaring music let you have a polite conversation? If you go in the evening, will the lights be on or will you need to bring a flashlight? I have never had a good experience there, and I only go because friends and relatives want to, and I eat before I go.

Overcooked steak, way undercooked veggies. So not worth what I paid. How disappointing.

Where do I begin? We went for lunch on Saturday. There really aren’t a lot of lunch options in Oneonta. We do like to come here and sit at the bar. There is a good bartender, Garth, but he wasn’t working. We walked into a disaster! I guess one of the bartenders had just quit and another person was thrown back behind the bar. Ok, stuff happens and we weren’t in a hurry. This guy was trying his best but was not good. I looked around and most of the customers were waiting for their food and servers were waiting for their drink orders. The new menu is confusing! It is a jumbled mess and very difficult to navigate. The little smart pad at our area wasn’t working. We ordered the bbq brisket loaded nachos and the«Kobe» meatballs for appetizers. Terrible! We got 3 tasteless meatballs and a roll on top. The nachos were dry. They don’t come with sour cream, salsa, or guacamole… weird. I asked for some sour cream and salsa and was charged for them! Next I ordered the fish tacos. Tasteless and the tortilla was burned. Once again no salsa or anything. I can’t remember the other thing we ordered because it took so long we cancelled it. Now for the entertainment! In the meantime, an intoxicated person walked in. The hostess immediately notified the general manager as the guy stumbled on his way to the bar. He sat next to us and another couple and preceded to take a half hour nap!(You can’t make this stuff up!) I did notice the 2 managers did show up behind the bar, but I assumed it was to help the struggling bar tender. When he finally woke up the bartender asked what he could get him. At that point, the gm whispered to him. I assume she was telling him not to serve him??? Well the drunk customer got up and stumbled to the bathroom. I alerted the gm of what I observed, I guess her plan was to just watch him and wait for him to leave. What!!! She didn’t call him a cab, didn’t notify mall security and didn’t call the police. Mind you he was not served any drinks there and arrived drunk. I asked if she was waiting for him to get back in his car and kill someone, or smash into a couple parked cars? She said there was nothing for her to do. He is publicly intoxicated in your restaurant, sleeping at the bar and bothering paying customers! Long story short. I called 911 and the Applebee’s 800 number. Not sure what happened…

I feel like it is my public duty to write this review. I’ve been to this Applebee’s three times in my entire life, starting from when they opened years ago to just recently. I have ordered the bacon burger, creamy linguine pasta, and grilled chicken salad, respectively. After every single one of those meals, I’ve gotten violently sick from food poisoning. Not just me, the entire group of four I was with. Three times. That is TWELVE cases of food poisoning! I really do not understand how they are still in business. Given that almost all of the Applebee’s food is already prepared when it gets there, something must go terribly wrong in their kitchen. I’ve heard from the grapevine that the kitchen is filthy and the equipment is faulty. I would not order anything from here, period. But don’t take my word for it, go ask to see their kitchen and then decide if you want to order. Go anywhere else in Oneonta to eat. Seriously.

I was visiting from out of town and stopped in for dinner on a Monday night. I was part of a party of four. We were seated fairly quickly but that is where things went downhill. The server took our order and delivered quickly the non-alcoholic drinks. Two salads arrived in a timely fashion but we had to ask for our beers. The appetizer took way too long(over 45 mins for chips). At that point we mentioned to our server we were going to be running into a time crunch if our food was not our shortly. After 1 hour and 40 minutes, our food started to come out. My sister’s steak was cold and not even cooked to medium rare(she requested medium). My steak came out and was the consistency of shoe leather(steak knife barely cut it) and the veggies looked a week old. The manager took some of the bill off but because of time constraints, I ended up with no meal and no one enjoyed themselves at dinner. The server did his best but at that point things were too far gone. It was obvious that something was very wrong in the kitchen as the Manager was at visiting about 5 tables in our area of the restaurant. I will not be going back to any Applebee’s anytime soon.

Applebee’s need to go AWAY — it is only non-fast food & non-ma/pa place in town and it was typically Applebee’s which = horrible experience ever– food before drinks — salad missing 5 foods & instead of fixing it they comp’d the salad — hosted smoking out front while people waited–

I’m not normally into chain restaurants but this Applebee’s managed to pull off a small town locally owned feel. I felt like I was treated likes regular even tho I was just passing thru. Of note: the gluten free menu was more substantial than I expected and Fiesta Lime Chicken I ordered was delicious.

Yes, this is like any other Applebee’s, all of which I normally despise. I’m not a fan of chain restaurants, but I am a fan of this location of this chain restaurant. As a Hartwick student, the happy hour here was a saving grace for me and my buddies when we didn’t feel like spending a lot of money or being downtown. You really can’t go wrong with the discounted appetizers and drafts. This is pretty much the only place in Oneonta not on Main St. where you can find a happy hour. Play it safe and keep it simple and you’ll leave happy.

We always love Applebee’s and today is no exception. We got the 2 for $ 20 and it was delicious with a great waitress :)

Applebee’s had a problem with their fryer and surprise, they were almost out of business. When you fry almost everything and that piece of equipment decides to burn everything, this is a disaster. The biggest disaster was that the staff did not warn customers and allowed them to order food that was not prepared well. Shame on them. Eat here at your own risk.
