This depiction of Star Wars is exceptional. It can be viewed by sitting down at the adjacent bench or by standing in close proximity. Characters should likely be recognizable no matter how little a patron knows about this highly successful franchise. I went here after having looked it up. The mural was beautiful and showed characters prominently among the Olympia setting. It is great that a bit of wall was used to pay tribute to this loveable series. Take a look at the Star Wars Mural.

Just had to stop and see this! It’s just on the side of a building, nothing really points out where it is, you just have to look around when you get to the corer! It’s cute, it’s fun, and why not stop by and check it out

«Honey, let’s go check out the Star Wars mural.» (silence) There are many times when I suspect that Mr. K rolls his eyes on our little road trips. We are going where? To see what? I came across this local gem when browsing the highest rated spots in Olympia. It was an easy stroll from the center of town and just a couple blocks from the Olympia Coffee Roasting Company. When asking a local for directions to the mural, he informed me that his friend created the mural and although it is a caricature, all characters are truthful in their representation. He was dead serious when describing the artist’s motivation. This is when I turn to Mr. K and nod knowingly. Just stick with me, kid. The mural is painted on the side of an apartment building and is in good condition. Someone actually has their apartment in the Death Star. **jealous** The grassy area alongside the building appears to be home to the only food cart in town, so it was a fun little journey of discovery. Not to say all my wanderings are successful. But in this case, the Force was with me.

Pretty cool mural. Its huge and they are in the process of makin a little park in front of it. I like that the artist put their own kind of graffiti style to the traditional starwars characters. Fun, fun.

Yeah, this is good, but not nearly as good as the SUPERHEROES one on the current location for Old School Pizza! Git some pics of that on here so people can get a slice and admire the handywork… maybe even play basketball in the alley too!

On the old Old School Pizzeria building near the corner of 4th Ave and Plum Street is this wicked Star Wars mural that encompasses the entire side of this two story building, windows and all. Painted in 1995, almost exclusively done graffiti style with spray paint, this mural stands as a tribute to the mix of hipness and nerdiness that typifies Olympians and makes this city great. Admittedly, the artwork isn’t totally up to par. Princess Leia looks awful. She has one humongous eye and doesn’t appear to have a second. And the Lando or Hans frozen in carbonite looks more like Sammy Davis Jr. than anybody while Lando looks more like Richard Roundtree than Billy Dee. That Lando Calrisian is a bad mutha… But you gotta love how badass Boba Fett and the Jawa look. And a huge Yoda head just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, even if he looks disturbingly like Mickey Rooney. Another thing that I love about this mural is that it is almost completely unknown. It sits near a major intersection in downtown, but because it is on the wrong way side of a one way street, hardly anybody has ever seen it. I only saw it because I turn around a lot farther than most when I check my blind spot before changing lanes and one day I just happened to make a lane change there and it caught my eye. I’m glad it did, because now whenever I make it home to Oly, I make a point to visit this mural. It’s one of my favorite places in one of my favorite towns.
