This is one of my go-to places for lunch. It’s one of the few places I will actually order a salad because they are SO good! Additional highlights are the mac and cheese, the thin crust pizza, and the lunchtime servers(typically the same two women, who are beyond delightful). Minus 1 star for inconsistency. Sometimes the salads seem huge and full of the good stuff, but other times I feel like I could eat two and still be hungry. Smaller portions for lunch are understandable, but consistency would at least help me figure out what to expect. :)

Good drinks and a nice server for a noontime visit on a Saturday. Chili is awesome as is Mac n cheese. Might go back for the BBQ

Our family of 5 tried Ramblin Jacks for the first time tonight. It was probably one of the top 5 worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. $ 150 later we had a rotten salad, cold bread, dirty silverwear, and a burnt cream sauce. The meat we ordered(ribs and chicken) were tough and also tasted«off». To make matters worse the waitress was unfriendly and acted like she would rather be any place than at work. Super disappointed! We are hoping we don’t get sick like an earlier review mentioned.

I had an awesome salad, but my coworkers who I dined with and ate meat got sick later that day, so take three stars with a grain of salt.

One of favorite places to go for happy hour. Great food and service. Good wine and beer selection.

Not even that great, I tho ig ht maybe it’s be OK despite other reviews, but it was just so bad. The meat tasted frozen the BBQ isn’t even that great. It’s just really dissapointing for what it could’ve been.

Met friends for lunch here today. Service was great, present but not obnoxious. SO disappointed in the food though… two of us had sandwiches on rolls that were so dry you could have choked on them. They could have been so much better with just a little more attention. The baby back ribs were tough and unremarkable. It’s been a long time since we’ve eaten here & it will be a long time before we come back.

Went for lunch Sunday and the Jack burger and chopped salad were delicious. Great service and rewarded us with an ice cream sundae for my b-day.

Best all day Sunday Happy Hour nachos ever! Great service. Cowgirl salad was good but get the dressing on the side. The Thai pizzas was ok. It needs some Thai chili sauce but we improvised with the sweet yellow BBQ sauce. Mandarin martini was yummy!

My kids really enjoy the single-serving pizza(from the regular menu) and the cheeseburger(kids’ menu), as well as the orange cream soda and the lemonade. I love the Cowgirl Salad and the drinks. Sweetie likes the barbecue sandwich Everybody’s happy! This is just a very nice, reliable spot downtown for a low-key family dinner that isn’t a chain restaurant.

Alot of good here but not 5 star: salads super fresh, good service: my friend had tri tip which she really enjoyed; I had the lamb special which was cooked to perfection, however the chef had placed it over a polenta with such a strong flavor it really did not work well with the lamb: lamb has a more delicate flavor than beef, it needs a more balanced/softer pairing. I spent time eating alot of lamb in England, so when i say the lamb was cooked perfectly I do know what i am saying! Dessert was crème brûlée, good but not great; great wine list: loud party forced us to change tables. Finally, our waiter was decent, friendly, but we received our appetizers AFTER our salads and although he said he’d worked there 2 years, he didn’t know what a pepper mill was!

This place is great about accommodating food allergies, and are super nice about it unlike a lot of places. They have really consistent food quality, which in Olympia is a rare thing! You get a well done meal for the price of the food. Large portions, so you have a lot to take home. The service is usually friendly and great. The food comes fast. The meat can be dry. They are reliable, which in the Oly food scene is a rarity. They can accommodate large parties easily.

Note to local, Olympia area restaurants: If you offer an organic hamburger I will probably eat it and Unilocal about it. Really good food. Love the burgers. Its everything I love about I. talia with the addition of house-smoked meats and burgers. The setting is a little too hip and crowded for my tastes, but the food is delicious, service is great and everyone seems to know what they are doing. Great BBQ and awesome menu. My girlfriend and I have probably been to Ramblin Jack’s ten times and I have not been disappointed.

Great time for a 50th Surprise Celebration for Liz Spiller Conference was perfect size and the catered food was top notch. We were a LOUDGROUP and no complaints from the rest of the restaurant.

First of all, thank you Jeanine for being so nice and remembering names. Service with the understanding and caring about people. Learning and remembering likes and dislikes. Rambling Jacks in Olympia has great sandwiches, tasty and different style pizza, unusual salads that actually work and many other things. The dining room is divided so that one side has a full bar and the other is family oriented. There is no loss of openness and spaciousness by doing this. Go to our State capital and stop in at Rambling Jacks. You do not want to miss this one.

First time there tonight. Nice local spot. The noise level was a bit much tonight but its a Friday night so I didn’t let it bother me. I ordered the southern style fried catfish I was satisfied. I’d definitely go back to try more of their menu

You will walk out smelling like you stood in a Texas BBQ smoke pit. Your belly will be extremely full… Regardless of how much, or little, you ate. And your fingers might be a little sticky from the sauce. But you will be happy because you just ate some pretty darn tasty food! Came for lunch and we were seated right away, next to a window, which was perfect for Oly people watching. Had the brisket sandwich on a gluten free bun with sweet potato fries. Holy messy marvelousness! Like almost every other gluten free bun I’ve eaten this one crumbled under the weight of the meat and sauce… I’d be happy with brisket and no bun next time(the bun is $ 1.75 extra). Extremely generous portion of delicious meat, smothered in bbq sauce. The sauce was a good combination of sweet and spicy, but perhaps a bit too much cumin. My friend ordered the Downtown Jason Brown(who is Jason Brown?!?) and loved it! Overall the meal was pretty great. Although our server was pleasant and perky, overall service was slooooooooow. Not good when you’re crunched for time. Also, a wet wipe is greatly appreciated after a sloppy mess of bbq… It would be awesome if these were provided. I’m certainly going back for drinks… Drink menu looked pretty sweet!

I really enjoyed eating here. Came with 3 other people on their recommendation. The service there was great and super friendly, very much on the ball with everything. My meal, however, was another story. I will not order it again. It was the Thai pizza… if you could call it that. I ate one slice and was done. There was no big Thai flavor that I was anticipating(I’ve had this type of pizza before). Nor will we order the buttermilk fried chicken. The gravy was not cooked properly. We will be ordering thr most delicious things again like the Jack’s Nachos and the Downtown Jackson Brown sandwich and deep fried pickles. Oh my goodness amazing!!! These alone will bring me back here again!!!

I’ve been here several times over the past few years, and the food is okay. Not great. Not terrible. Just okay. Having said that, the Reuben that I had today was pretty good for Oly. Although, the slaw was swimming in watery mayo. I usually get the old school server who takes her job seriously. They should make her the manager. Today my server had an across-the-restaurant conversation with the guy working behind the counter(let’s just yell out the F-bomb in the restaurant — it makes the meal so much more fun) and another server. They went on for about 10 – 15 minutes. Put a cork in it already. I think the best thing they have going here are the sandwiches. You can get better barbecue over at Southbay Dickersons.

We went for a work related event a few weeks ago on a Thursday evening. I had never heard of this place so I did knot know what to expect. They had reserved a room in the back for the event and had set up a buffet type meal. Pulled pork, chicken, mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese and steamed veggies. I am not really away eater so I only tasted the chicken and it was smoked and not for me but everyone seemed to love it and the pulled pork as well. The sauces on the table were good. They offered a bread with olive oil that was good. The service was good. If they hold another event there I will try to get more photos.
