I wanted to share a wonderful experience I had at the Olympia Washington Mac. I went in late evening on January 7th the day before my son’s first birthday. I was greeted by Aajenee McLeod a Mac artist. She asked me if she could help me and I explained to her I needed powder but I could not remember what shade I was. Not only did she go above and beyond to make sure I was matched correctly but we started talking and I began telling her that my husband had recently left for the US Army and was due to start basic training the next day on our son’s first birthday. I was already very emotional and sad but after talking to aajenee and finding out that her herself serves our country in the United States Army Reserves she made me feel so much better and I left not only a happy customer because I was correctly matched but I left feeling more confident about my current situation. I want to say a huge thank you to her for her amazing customer service and an even bigger thank you to her for serving our country. I am a life long mac customer and will be returning specifically to purchase from Aajenee. Thank you

I love these cosmetics. But from no on I will order online and take the risk. The gal that«helped» me did not help me. She was extremely condescending and clearly irritated that I interrupted her conversation.

While I love the products, I can’t say I feel the same about the actual customer service and environment. I had no idea there was a MAC in the mall and when I realized I was so happy. But the products seemed to be grubby and counters not wiped down. Sort of mulled over feeling. Maybe they’re was a big rush? No idea. The girl that worked in there was super nice and helpful. A little overbearing, but I get it. The manager, however was very short and rude. A young girl came in and I overheard her asking questions about how she can work for the company. The girl that worked there pointed her to the manager. The girl was explaining she was really interested in starting a career in make-up and loved the company’s products. The manager seemed to not give her the time of day. She asked her what she knew about the history. This threw me off and apparently the girl. She was confused and said something about knowing how the company started but didn’t know too much. The manager told her she should probably know the history of the store first. They ended up kind of ending the conversation that lasted maybe a minute, and I saw the girl walk out with tears in her eyes. Seriously? That could have been that girl’s dream, and she felt the need to be snobby and blow her off like that? Made me think twice about the company. I think instead of being treated like a price sticker, or someone not important, I’ll go to Sephora where they have multiple great brands of make-up and fun energetic people. Those poor employees in MAC! Jeez!

I went here because a friend made me go. No I didn’t go willingly, but I’m all about trying new things and new places especially with my friends. I went with my friend Andrea, who’s kind of any intermediate makeup maven and she started right in with the questions…“is this too dark? do you think this would look good on me? does this look like a shade darker?” I’m like, «uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh» *sounds of a faucet dripping in my brain* as I give her a wide eyed stare as if I’m looking straight through her. Anyway, I tell her that is why the ladies that work there work there… i.e. to help her. So the gals and my pal strike up conversation and trade secrets and talk about people they follow on Instagram and I’m thinking that she is never going to purchase any makeup. So much for a «quick trip in just to pick a few things up». While the ladies were preening over each other I took some time to scope the place out. Many of the stations and counters appeared to be in need of a sanitary wipedown with alcohol or something. There were just smudges and fingerprints and swabs and cotton all over the place. It just didn’t give off a clean feel to me. Then I started to wonder how many people put their crusty busted lips and leaking eyes all over the sticks & liners and go digging with their funky fingers in all the compacts as a few of the ladies that were in there were doing. I’m sure they have a cleaning régime and you gals obviously know what you’re doing when it comes to makeup. The gals on duty were very nice and happy to search and find something if you couldn’t find it or even order it. They have all the basics but this store is kind of small though as it’s not a full store, just a hotspot in Macys.

When my 15 year old cousin’s mother died, I took her and a friend of hers here to try to give them something a bit more lighthearted to do during a very difficult time. The woman working there clearly did not want to wait on us, and was irritated for no apparent reason. I had hoped to have the girls get some make up down on them and then buy them some treats. The woman would do a minute or two working on them, then leave for awhile(for no apparent reason), and not come back until I asked her to. Finally we just walked out, make up very incomplete and two girls who already felt bad just feeling worse. I used to use MAC exclusively but I found that between the horrible customer service and the increasing allergic reactions, I am now a Bobbi Brown girl all the way.
