GoGo Japan – Sushi & Bento

I always enjoy good inexpensive quality sushi. This restaurant was good but we waited a little bit longer than expected for the food. The quality was average the rolls fell apart easily which was a drag. I was expecting some really good sushi that would leave an impression on my taste buds but unfortunately Go-​Go was a no no.

Brought the whole family in on December 23^rd (kind of a nostalgia trip for one of my sons). This is the second time I’ve been here and left disappointed: sake served boiling hot, miso insipid, sushi rolls soggy, and the service was slow and inattentive. Not sure what happened to this place during the last year… love the décor and really want to like GoGo Japan, but can’t recommend it.

This is a great little spot. I especially like their Ramen with pork which is packed with lots of flavor. The staff is friendly and have always waited on me as soon as I’ve stepped through the door. They have great weekly specials and sushi which isn’t over priced.
The restaurant is small, but don’t let that deter you as it is well laid out and kept very clean. I stop in here at lest once a week to get something for diner and have never had a bad experience.

Wa-​fu salad is super delicious! Friendly service but at times super crowded and the service quality goes down.

I’m a local and have passed by this establishment plenty of times. I thought it would be a fast food type place, but I was wrong. We got our food to-​go and it was delicious! The service we received while we were there was excellent. The price was extremely reasonable, without sacrificing the quality. I should have checked this restaurant out sooner, but we will be back again. See for yourself!

Really love this place is by my house and even when I would have lunch I will take the drive I love there sushi and service is great my son loves it too

Their lunch special is pleasurable and painful at the same time. So good you can’t stop. It’s like really good rough sex with an occasional slap that you weren’t expecting.

I keep giving this place chances but each time it’s always the same issue, the service is non existent, always wait about 15 – 20 minutes just take a drink order another 10 minutes to get drinks and you better order your food at that point or your going to be waiting a lot longer and then, at least in my case, I was never checked on and had to find and grab a to go box on my own, I am never coming back to this place but maybe you’ll get lucky and get actual service.

After coming here since 2007 I have to say good service and INTEGRITY is no longer in this place. I have tried to make up excuses for all the bad I’ve experienced here but I have come to a realization that this place is no more after all of these years for me.
My question is, what happened if I could speak to the owner.

We came out here for lunch and let me tell you how friendly and welcoming they are! The waitress that got assigned to our table was very nice and even interacted with my 4month old son.
I than asked if they had a drink and she told me that they didn’t but I was more than welcome to go next door and buy it! best service by far! Food was extremely good, ingredients are as fresh as it gets!
Wife got the butterfly rolls and I got the sea food soup very delicious

The place is close to home so decided to try it out. Their lunch specials are great. Did have to wait a bit longer than expected but I know to call ahead next time. And the exceptional food made up for the wait. Is never disappoints. Will def be coming back again!

Not bad of a place. We came here since the BBQ next door was crowded, and we were hungry. I came here with my husband and two kids, and they put us in the back so we were out of the way, which I appreciated. The menu was huge and so diverse! It took us forever to decide since there were so many choices.
I decided to start off with a miso soup since that’s my go-​to appetizer at any sushi restaurant. They have fruit sparkling soda with free refills that I HAD to try, so I got the mango. My husband ordered a tea with boba because you can get one of those there too. Like I said, diverse, even with the drinks. We finally decided on a kids meal with goyza, the two roll combo for my husband, and a super crunch roll for me.
My husbands salad came out first. I was a little confused since I did order the miso soup pretty early. Then shortly after the miso soups came out, and it was one of the best ones I’ve had. Then my daughters meal came along with my husbands’. I figured they were still making mine, but my husband was practically done with his by the time my roll came out. My meal was where I docked one star. Not only did it come out significantly later than everyone else’s, but it was burnt. I didn’t even know that was possible with sushi. Unfortunately, even though it was just a little burnt (noticeably on the rice) the flavor just totally killed the whole sushi roll. I’ve never felt more disappointed in sushi and not to mention it was the most expensive item we ordered.
Overall, loved the variety and the food, that wasn’t my sushi, was tasty. They can work on better timing so I don’t have to depressingly watch everyone else eat their food only to get burnt sushi in the end.

My favorite sushi spot outside of Tokyo. Amazingly friendly staff and I enjoy being a regular here. Great place to eat or take a date. I usually come 2 or 3 times a month.

Wow! I’ve been coming here since they opened in 2003. They have come a long way and improved a lot recently. The sushi is great and fresh, plus they have a lot of fun combinations.
They also provide a ton of opportunities to get a discount. There’s lunch and dinner specials, happy hour every day, crazy Tuesday night, wild Wednesday and family appreciation Thursdays.
Also, they have imported beers on tap and have a good selection of sake. The service can be a little lacking, and it’s a small spot, but worth it to check out.

Just went for lunch. Had the lunch special — comes with miso, salad, and edamame (I always want all 3 and agonize like my hand is over the red button normally, so awesome), plus 2 rolls… think the price was $ 11.99 or so. More food than this man could eat so left with some leftovers. Now I know I was hungry, but damn everything tasted just fine. Had the Oceanside Roll and the Double Tuna. Now when I said more than one man could eat… I could have eaten it all… but when you can’t take a nap afterward, you (try) take some leftovers.
Other than that… service was on point… quick and efficient like you need on a lunch time crunch. So far my best experience in Oceanside. Will definitely try again and update accordingly.

The prices are fair and the sushi is wow. Dynamite roll so far is my favorite for $ 9.99. I like the hanging white ball lamps, nice decorations.

Blah. I was hoping for some quick sushi after work but…
Cons only!
— With only two tables seated, I was completely ignored for 5 minutes. The main lady working walked by me 4 times without so much as an acknowledgement. So I grabbed a menu so I could figure out something to order to go.
— Their menus don’t tell what is in each roll which makes the ordering process kind of difficult.
— I tried to ask the lady working what was in the shrimp crunch roll and she responded with «shrimp». Uh, thanks.
— I tried to clarify my question but she put up her hand to stop me from talking, told a couple their food was ready to pick up and then answered the phone that had rung one time.
I put the menu down and walked out. Lame.

I come here fairly often because the fish is above average in freshness and overall delicious and better than most, along with reasonable prices. I completely agree with other reviewers about the service … They seem to forget about you and you have no dedicated waiter. I hope they read the reviews and can fix the problem. I often get the lunch sushi special and most of the time it is great. But again, I put up with the poor service since it’s one of the top 3 sushi places (in terms of food quality) within 5 – 10 miles (have to go to San Diego or Encinitas to find better fish).
One more criticism and I hope this is just my imagination: the nigiri that comes with the lunch special seems to be smaller in size, like a «mini nigiri» compared to a separate order of nigiri. Take a look at the salmon in my pics. I mean I know it’s a $ 12 lunch special, but an extra ounce of fish is cheap… Please say it ain’t so!

My friend and I were craving some sushi and catch up time, so she told me GoGo has pretty good sushi and amazing specials!
I feel slightly embarrassed because this place is next to my house, but never been. We came on a Thursday night and this place was packed and cozy.
I got the Teriyaki Chicken, Vegetable Tempura, Gyoza, Salad, and Rice platter along with California Rolls and a Peach Jasmine Tea to wash it all down! OMG everything on my platter was delicious and I couldn’t believe how cheap it was! We should of stopped at the platter, but since we were craving sushi we decided to get some too. The California roll was ok, I would definitely try a different time the next time I come back! Wayyyy too much food which induced a food coma afterwards! The Peach Jasmine Tea was so amazing but I kept looking for the boba to fully complete my meal!
Coming back here more often!
