By far, the best chicken noodle soup spot in the East Bay. Soup is delicious and chicken is as fresh as it can get. The phở, rice noodle and fried egg rolls are also very good. I see a lot of people order their special chicken with rice too but have yet tried it. We always get the half chicken with two bowls of the noodle soup… even on a hot day I still crave it!

I’m real picky about chicken because most places that serves phở ga their soup has this gross smell to it. I normally only eat this when my mom makes it. I was dragged w. Family to try this place I got phở Ga with bone in and gizzards and to my surprise I really liked it. The chicken was clean no hair no nothing the soup was very flavorful thumbs up for now being the only place besides my moms house for me to eat phở ga. I also tried the banh cuon ehhhh. Wasn’t bad but wasn’t something I would come back for. Not much filling but a lot of the noodle.

This is my go to place whenever I want to get some phở ga and banh cuon! Their portion is very big, you gotta get the thin ho fun noodles with boneless chicken phở. It’s bomb af and they give hella noodles! Their banh cuon is my favorite. In my opinion, this is the best place to get banh cuon in Oakland. It’s wrapped perfectly and the wrapper isn’t oily. The nuoc mam dipping sauce that comes with the banh cuon is pretty good too. It’s sweet, salty, and sour. I like that because that’s how nuoc mam dipping sauce should be. The service is alright. They usually only have one server and everyone else is in the back cooking. But the food comes out really quick. If you’re looking for some hot noodle soup on a cold day this is the place to go!

Very casual place. I had the shredded chicken phở was good. I liked the chicken soup base and their rice noodle is amazingly fresh. I would suggest don’t come too hungry or you will starve the death. The service here is super slow and they don’t really stop by your table.

Came here twice so far. The phở ga was good on the first time. When I went there the second time, the noodles was not as fresh as the first time. Chicken is indeed fresh and good both times because it’s not frozen chicken. I came here for my banh cuon fix since I hate the pre-packed kinds. I wished they put more stuffing in the banh cuon. Other than that, it was good.

Came here on a Saturday around 1240ish. There’s a wait, waited less than 10 min and got seated. Ordered boneless chicken noodle soup with ho fun noodles, and a side of chicken intestines. Food took a while to come out, more than 20 mins? That’s a very long time just for some noodles. And then when it came out, chicken had bones. I asked for boneless but whatever, didn’t wanna wait even longer to exchange it. Now on to the foods: — Soup was bland, no flavor, no taste. — Chickens were good and tender. — Ho fun noodles were small? Not big? I guess. — Chicken intestines were ok. Service was… well, they never came to check on us. Needed more water and the bill, but no one acknowledged me. Had to walk up and pay. Disappointed at the food, although their portion are big. Felt like I was eating a bowl of noodles with no flavor. Should of ordered banh cuon, because that’s what they’re famous for. But maybe next time… Maybe…

Drove past a few times, thought we give it a try. I got the 8(shredded chicken with ho fun) and he got the 6(shredded chicken with phở noodle). The broth was flavorful, the chicken was tender, but the ho fun was a little thicker than what I expected. There wasn’t a lot of chicken but that don’t bother me bc I’m not a big meat eater, but the bf was not happy about it. The ginger sauce was ok. I needed to add some salt to it. They do give a lot of bean sprouts. Not as good as café huy in my opinion, we might be back if the café huy is too packed.

Was excited to try this new phở ga spot, my usually spot is phở ga huong Que Café on 7th street. Came in on a busy Sunday afternoon, waited about 10 mins before we placed our order. We ordered the baun cuon, egg rolls and #8 phở ga ho fun. Downside — They ran out of egg rolls, and there was a 30 min wait for baun cuon. Ended up ordering two #8 instead. Small portion of chicken and Ho fun noodles were more like rice noodles. They were definitely short staff and needed another server/waitress. Upside– big portions of their ginger sauce and steam beansprouts which I absolutely love! Phở ga noodles, broth was good. Worth a try not sure if it’s worth coming back.

Banh cuon was on point! The phở ga was tasty as well. If you’re looking for Vietnamese that reminds you of home cooking, this is the spot.

You have to start out with the Banh Cuon as a appetizer or for your meal! It so tasty, delicious and full of stuffing inside in noodle rolls! I only get their shredded chicken noodle w/ho fun noodles because I just hate the bones and making a mess. The Bun bo hue and Bun rieu is decent but I usually only go when I want the Banh Cuon. The service is a hit or miss depending on who’s there or how busy it is so find a good time to go.

TL: DR Tasteless food and HORRIBLE services. DONOTGO. I was really excited to try this place with my friends, but we left the place feeling very disappointed in both the food and the services. The whole experience was abysmal in all aspects. 1. The Bun Rieu(crab paste noodle) was tasteless. 2. The service was what really got us. The server threw a fit at us while we didn’t do anything that would give her a reason to. She had the nerve to talk back at us saying that«you didn’t tell me that, you told her you didn’t tell me.» With a smirk like she was right when we asked about an order that never came through. The whole meal was just very unsatisfactory. 10⁄10 would NOTRECOMMEND. Failed business in my opinion when you can’t even have server with minimal politeness

This is a spot my mom and dad like to frequent. I think the phở ga is pretty tasty and so many noodles. I couldn’t finish mine. Like having the choice of shredded chicken or chicken on the bone. Service is good, but parking can be difficult at times. For some reason, they like to leave the windows and doors open, so it could be a little chilly for some. The bahn cuon isn’t my favorite. They are big, but there’s a big noodle in the middle, not just filling. I like the bahn con at Tay Ho better. Big plus, if you’re hungry, they really fill you up here.

My girlfriend and I went here late last Sunday morning. Here were the minuses: 1. There was a 10-minute wait. We all just stood at the front. There were no benches or chairs. 2. The entire place was a bit on the cool side. 3. They only accept cash, but there’s no sign on the door telling the patrons this. Here were the pluses: 1. The service was a tad less than cordial, but it was good and fast overall. 2. The food was hot, delicious, and satisfying. Really hit the spot. 3. The owner trusted us. She let us leave without paying because we had to run to the ATM. So, all the above considered, I would certainly recommend WWPG. Just make sure you dress warmly, bring cash, and come prepared to wait a few minutes before being seated. The food will make the setbacks worth it.

Banh Cuon’s a must whenever you come here! They taste better when they’re fresh but if you refrigerate it, you should steam it instead of sticking it in the microwave! Very limited seating as this is more of a local’s spot! The service isn’t the best, but the food makes up for it! My favorite is the Bun Bo hue!

Food is nothing special. Even worst. My wife and I were sitting about 10 feet from the entrance and it was freezing cold. The windows were open, the fans were on, and of the waitresses kept opening the door even after some customers closed it themselves several times. So we politely asked her if she can keep the door closed because it was so cold and she yelled rudely at us saying that if we’re cold, we should put on a jacket. The service was extremely bad and there was a lot of attitude coming from the workers. The food was horrible and the service was even worst than that. never come back again !!

This place is nothing special. But let me tell you a story about the last time I came here. Went in, sat down with my grandma. Pretty quiet inside and there was only one server. I quickly ordered just a simple Chicken Ho Fun. So much noodles! So much chicken! It was great. Oh, except the broth wasn’t as flavorful as i’d like. Everything was going great until… Oh my gosh the server was telling everyone how busy she was and being really polite about it. They had a ton of to-go orders and they couldn’t keep up. I was getting stressed for her. A women walked in stressed out of her mind saying she needed her chicken! Then the server said she was so busy she is trying her best. I mean I totally feel for both sides. Anyway, just a tip to the restaurant: Have more employees! Great service and great potential but the only problem is that one server can’t do it all! No matter how good they are.

Don’t know why ppl give high rate. Phở ga had no flavor, the soup is full of YELLOW oils eww that’s chicken fat flowing on the soup. Chicken are mostly BONE, where are the meat? Nothing close to authentic phở ga. Seriously I rather go to Kim long, phở au sen or Phở king. Plus the banh cuon is suck, it taste like chinese dim sum rice roll. Inside the banh cuon have cabbages? Am I having dim sum I’m confuse. Maybe add some soy sauce it might taste like shrimp rice roll lol. Plus they made you wait 30−45mins to get rice roll! Really? It wasn’t a special item. It is on ur regular menu then why make customers wait 30−45mins? So basically u can buy a bag of noodle and get a cooked chicken from 99 ranch, add some chicken broth, you can made this at home. That’s right, I won’t come again.

Best place for chicken noodle soup in Oakland/Berkeley/Emeryville/etc area. Great fat banh cuon(aka stuffed/rolled noodles or steam rolls in some restaurants) that is very tasty too. Cash only, sometimes wait times long due to families taking up limited seating. If English not spoken by current waitress, you can point to menu items. Worth it. Edit: 11÷14÷15: yet again meets its consistency mark. Consistently have a soup which once consumed makes you feel like you’re curled in a feather blanket watching a cold rain through the glass while sipping a hot cocoa. Upping to 5 stars.

It’s rare to find a Phở Ga specialty restaurant. This is the 2nd one in Oakland(There were other ones that have come and gone). Food: Phở Ga — I sensed a hint of ginseng flavor. They have clear noodles! Pretty good, but I still liked Phở Gai Hai Phongs more(too bad they closed). Banh Cuon — I’ve only had homemade ones prior to this, but it was good. Service: Quick in and out service. Environment: Very much a hole in a wall in the hood. Plenty of graffiti art around the corner. Price: Hole in the walls = cheap prices. Food: 4 Service: 3 Environment: 3 Price: 4

Eh, the banh cuon weren’t the best I’ve had, and they’re pretty expensive for what they are. However, I give them props just for having it on their menu as it is a very hard dish to make. Also, this was the only reason I came to this restaurant and I got them to go so you can stop reading now.

My co-workers have been bringing in lunch from Wing Wah so I decided that I needed to try it since I love the«steamed chicken». I got a #2 Banh Cuon and #9 Phở Ga. #2… This dish is awesome, it is only the first place that I have had it but it is really good. The rice roll is so delicate and the filling is so tasty. Dip it in the Fish Sauce and you got a wonderful tasty appetizer although it could be enough for a full meal. #9… Is where I docked a star because of what I received. I received clear noodles but on the pictures that members have posted, I’ve only seen regular Phở noodles. Maybe it’s my fault and I should have asked but the woman who answered the phone didn’t speak very good english. Also I asked if they could give me some of the ginger/scallion sauce and she said yes. I should have checked I guess but the«to go «was already wrapped up and ready to go. Broth… To me it needed to be a little more saltier but that is my preference so no docking of any stars. The place looked really clean, although I did not eat there. Also, I didn’t receive that much chicken in the Phở Ga, maybe like 5 pieces. Not even a quarter of a chicken. At Ranch 99 I can get a roasted leg quarter for like $ 1.50. ??? Will I go back? For sure, it really is really good. Just the little things that bug me. Next time I’ll eat there so I can get the full experience.

I’ve had this place twice in the week I visited home because it was THAT good. It’s kinda in an interesting area but that shouldn’t stop you from going! I ordered the chicken phở and the banh cuon(rice rolls with pork and veggies). What I really liked about the chicken phở was that it had an option of shredded chicken or actual whole pieces bone-in chicken. I personally like the bone in pieces more. They have more taste and has a good texture I like. Their chicken was overall really good and not dried out at all. The noodles in the soup were very soft and the soup was delicious. Wasn’t too salty but very flavorful. It comes with ginger scallion sauce that I absolutely love. You dip your chicken in it and it has an unique taste to it. I will definitley order it again! As for the banh cuon they are the best rice rolls I’ve ever had. It comes with Nuoc mam(fish sauce) to pour over. They taste great even without it but with it adds an extra kick. They’re very soft and seasoned very well. Overall I think I’m going to be coming back everytime im in the bay!

Was craving Phở ga and this place didn’t disappoint. Most places will have shredded chicken for their phở ga. What I really liked about the chicken here is that it was chopped instead of shredded. Broth was perfect. The little extra bonus was that they served banh cuon also which is one of my favorite. If you are craving come phở ga don’t pass this place up.

ANDTHESTORYCONTINUES INLOVEX2 Can yo be equally in love with two people at the same time? YES. Did you ask for this to happen? NO. The Cougar and the GF, Lord how did I get into this mess? One is no hassles, stress free, and fun as heck. The other keeps me focused on my goals and motivates me to do my best. Both makes me a better man. I love Phở Ga 69, but Wing Wah took over. This was my spot to cure hang overs! Phở Ga had the onion and ginger sauce that was my favorite. Better than places that uses it for hainan chicken. Wing Wah has more noodles and fresher tasting chicken. Even The Banh Cuon Is bigger! ARGH!!! why is it so hard? I want to have my cake and eat it too. But nope, gotta make a grown up decision. Wing Wah is great overall so its my favorite. What about the cougar and gf? STAYTUNED

Came here again so I can eat this time and write a review this time. The restaurant on Sunday afternoon around 3pm wasn’t crowded but there were few customers. They serve complimentary cold tea here which is excellent. Love, love, love their cold tea! I ordered Banh Cuon and Chicken Phở. I tried to order it with intestine, hoping that I could get few innards and unborn egg, but the waiter who was fairly Americanized didn’t seem to understand since it was not on the menu. Finally, another lady that seem to run the place came out and asked if I wanted gizzards. I said ok. Banh Cuon came out first. Nice texture, nice filling, very yummy! Then the Chicken Phở came, but they forgot the gizzards. So they came out separate in the little container. Phở was pretty good, no complaints here. I wish I knew how to order it with intestine. Will try again next time. The lady that seem to manage there works very efficiently and tirelessly. While I was there she cleaned, restocked, refilled, etc. without stopping. The only downside is that I could not get her attention for anything — had to walk up to her to get her attention the couple of times I needed it. Oh well, the restaurant is clean and spotless because of her. Will come back to try their other dishes soon.

Wing Wah Phở Ga. takes over the Phở Ga 69 space. interior looks the same. not sure about the menu. menu: phở ga, phở(just a few), rice plates, chicken, appetitzers. eats: Bun BO Hue(7.95) –big bowl with a large variety of protein, not much noodles(reconstituted kind) and fresh veggies. –protein was small chuck pig feet, cubes of blood, tendons, briskets. –broth heavily flavored with chile pieces, fish sauce, msg. tasted fab, filling, hungry an hour later. takeouts: –usual service; take order, drop off tea, entrée, –no return to table afterwards. –busy at lunch.
