Popcorn chicken is good, bubble tea is delicious, but it’s the atmosphere that makes this place truly great. The people that work here are nice and friendly and the boardgames are so much fun! The idea of a boardgame bubble tea place is truly amazing.

Brown rice milk tea tapioca was
For 4.25 $, you’ll get a large cup of milk tea that’ll leave you wanting more. Only down side is the street parking, which is horrendous during the day time.

It is a complete hit or miss when it comes to your drink purchase. The last time I brought my family here — a mango black tea with boba was ordered. It was NOT a mango black tea. and it tasted horrible. There was no hint of mango and the drink was bitter. The amount of sweet in your drink can vary from barely any or overly sweet to where you cannot taste the tea at all. This place DESPERATELY needs a standardized training/measurement and quality control. 3⁄10 times they MIGHT get your drink right. If you go here — and you don’t get what you ordered — DEMAND a refund or DEMAND that they make the drink that you have purchased.

In LOVE with their popcorn chicken — fried up with basil that comes out as a cripsy crunchy flavorful addition to the juicy chicken it comes with! Great pair with any of their milk teas! Usual go-to’s are the TARO, THAITEA and MATCHA. I haven’t been here in a few years so this review’s based off of days I’ve been to Mr. Green Bubble at least a year or two ago so the off reviews have come as a surprise(and just means I have to go drop by for a visit!). It was a clean bright place to hang out when I used to go. Used to always see a bunch of people doing work there, people parking upfront for pick-ups, and friends hanging out to play their boardgames you can borrow. Best to say that their milk tea is a-ok but their POPCORNCHICKEN with FRIEDBASIL(possibility of rice as an add-on) is the STAR for me. I’ve already found myself frying up basil at home — totally inspired. Thank you Mr. Green Bubble

Their popcorn chicken is to die for. It may have been one of the best I’ve ever had. Try it, trust me its worth the $ 5. I got it with a 4 spicy and that left my tongue burning so if you’re an average spicy eater like me prepare to be challenged. I came here and used their $ 7 for $ 10 deal(they had three deals on their Unilocal page, wow!) Which I was a little thankful for considering their drinks are completely overpriced. If you’re willing to still dish out the money try the Earl grey or the rose milk tea. Their interior décor sure could use some work though… The bench fabric was all ripped up and the floors were pretty dirty…

I stopped by Mr. Green Bubble on a whim just because I was in the area. The last couple of times that I’ve been to Mr. Green Bubble, they didn’t have avocado smoothies because their avocados weren’t ripe at the time, but on Sunday when I asked about it, their avocados were perfectly ripe and I was able to order it. Yay! My boyfriend was definitely really happy about that since he’s usually the one who orders the avocado smoothie. I also ordered an almond milk tea because no milk tea place has been able to make an almond milk tea as perfectly to my liking as green bubble does. The perfect amount of sweetness and not overly tea tasting. Plus I have a belly loyalty card with them so it’s fun scanning my code into their system to rack up my points.

So, my original review of Mr Green Bubble was pretty neutral. I didn’t hate it, but it was slightly below average. However, I have to update and take away a star because I got some very shady messages on Unilocal from someone affiliated with Mr Green Bubble. No picture, no reviews, no friends, signed up today and deleted after my last message. You know the type, sneaky! They claimed they don’t work there, but please read the following 2 messages and tell me if you think this is suspicious or not… Beware of this below average boba place. They may have a cute logo, but they don’t take criticism very well ;) #NoTeaAllShade

Came here on a Friday night around 7. Definitely beat the crowd because about 30 min later, the place was jam packed full of people. Located right across a school so that would probably explain all the teenagers in the place. Ordered a milk tea with lychee jelly and boba and a honey lemon tea. Milk tea tasted pretty sweet. Plus for giving a very generous amount of both toppings I ordered. Took a sip of the honey lemon tea and it tasted like those packs of Vitasoy! Not complaining though. The fact that it tasted like the Vitasoy packs reminded me of childhood. Another thing that I liked about the honey lemon drink was that they put real slices of lemon in there! I definitely don’t see that too often. Cute place overall. They have a rack that they hang their condiments on for the snacks that people order which I thought was pretty neat. They also have a ton of board games to choose from. Very well lit and spacious place. Friendly service as well. If I’m ever in the area again, will come back for sure!

Pretty good. I got the honey green tea, almond tea with egg pudding, and jasmine milk tea. I don’t usually get egg pudding so I decided to try it out and I couldn’t really taste it. I think I’ll stick to boba. Everything was the right amount of sweetness. Also ordered a popcorn chicken. Generous amount and is actually chicken, not just a bunch of fried batter. The chicken is also soft

I’ve been exploring bubble tea in the Bay Area. It’s not my favorite place, but the vibe was good and it seemed like a great local spot. I got the regular Boba Milk Tea. It wasn’t that expensive. The drink wasn’t that sweet and it was a solid drink. The boba was chewy and sweet. I haven’t tried other places in Oakland, but I will definitely go back. The place was really busy. It was hard to find a place to sit so this seems to be a better place to grab-n-go. Other notes: Love the board game options. Free wifi

What’s with all the great reviews here? I don’t think it was even close to good despite all the competition in Oakland. The one thing that stood out is the customer service here, employees are friendly and cheerful and they try their best to accommodate customers. I bought the $ 7 for $ 10 Unilocal deal thinking I’ll want to try more than their boba but the food choices are very limited. I wanted a mixed fruit waffle with ice cream(a menu choice) but the only fruits they had left was bananas and the only choice of ice cream was cherry vanilla. The tapioca balls in the drink was a bit hard, seems like it’s been there for awhile.

This is the spot where I was first introduced to brown rice milk tea a couple years ago. I tasted it(loved it!) and kept coming back for this particular drink ever since. The menu is very extensive and can be a bit overwhelming to a boba newbie — take your time to study the menu as there is surely something for everyone. I appreciate that they also have customization of ice and sugar levels at no extra charge. They added a new topping(agar jelly) which is a fun addition to your drinks. Selected games and free wifi so you can hang and chill while you sip your drinks and nibble on snacks(they have many fried goodies including assorted mushrooms which I am tempted to try). Belly rewards program for frequent customers. Tip: They have 20min parking spots in front(usually taken) but I’ve often found it easier to find parking in the residential area than directly on Piedmont Ave. Free parking(usually 2hrs) and you can wander around afterwards. I’ve been contemplating the star rating on this spot and decided on a 3 even though I really DO enjoy the drinks here. The logo itself is so awesome I always find myself smiling whenever I walk in. HOWEVER, I often leave shaking my head because the customer service has really declined over time. Once in awhile, I’ll have a pleasant experience(like today was VERY nice) but the general vibe I get from the staff is that they have somewhere else better to be or they hate their jobs. I’ve seen eye rolling & talking negatively about customers while they are still in earshot. It makes me uncomfortable and not want to stick around. I get that everyone has bad days & it’s especially frustrating when it’s busy but judging from other reviews — I don’t think I’m the only one who feels this way. You don’t have chat it up with everyone who walks through the door but you shouldn’t make your customers walk away feeling awkward either.

The best thing about this place is your ability to customize your drink in terms of sugar(ex: 50%, 25%, no sugar), ice(lots, little, none), milk(whole, 2%, etc) and add-ins(like boba or jelly). I’m originally from So Cal so I might be a boba snob. This place definitely scratched my itch. I got an almond milk tea with boba, 2% milk. Since the almond milk tea is flavored with a sweetend almond syrup I couldn’t decrease the sugar but it was very good and not overly sweet. I got the boyfriend a matcha smoothie with boba which I think he was pretty satisfied with. Service is friendly and helpful. Unfortunately I don’t live out here so I can’t make this my regular spot. If you’re in the area I would definitely check it out. The only issue is parking but it was worth the struggle. Enjoy!

If you’re just coming in & out to grab some fresh boba tea, Mr Green Bubble is great. Their menu is huge, well organized for novices, and decently priced. If you’re planning to STAY and enjoy your beverage, that’s where the 3-star experience comes in. They really need to spruce this place up and give the ambiance some TLC. The benches have massively peeling upholstery, and the tables need to be wiped down more regularly. They play loud music with… wait for the naggy old lady comment… explicit lyrics, which made me laugh because there were so many kids & families coming in while the F-bomb was blasting on the stereo. Was this a one-off thing? I don’t know, but I noticed it, and I don’t even have kids! Back to the tea: good stuff! Various sweetness levels and add-ons, milk types, tea flavors, and even ice amount can be customized. For you boba cravings, Green Bubble will satisfy. Just not the best spot to chill long-term.

I’m gonna have to give this a place 3 stars, but this is totally based off one visit and I only tried three drinks on their menu: 1) Watermelon milk: Don’t know why he likes fruity milk drinks… I think they’re gross. I saw that they used real watermelon to make this though, so that’s kinda a good thing that they use fresh ingredients. But this wasn’t something I’d ever order myself. It tastes like watermelon juice with milk. 2) Bubble milk tea: I felt like I haven’t had regular milk tea in a while so I decided to try this. They ran out of boba so I decided to get grass jelly. Didn’t turn out to be a great combo. It gave the milk tea a medicinal taste. Got a different drink instead. 3) Rose green milk tea: Been into rose tea lately so I decided to try this. They had boba ready this time. This was definitely better than the milk tea and watermelon milk. Don’t really like how there’s rose petals in my drink… gotta spit it out the window on the drive back to SJ lol. It kinda tastes like rose jam shower gel from Lush(I got weird descriptions of how things taste so don’t listen to me). The location was pretty clean and well lit. It wasn’t too crowded when we went and we got our drinks fairly quickly. They had TONS of drink options which was a little overwhelming for indecisive people like me. You can customize level of ice/sweetness to your liking! They had board games to play, but I didn’t know any of them… but we tried playing Battle of the Sexes. Thumbs up to all the 90s R&B they were playing while we were there :) Would possibly give this place another try only if I’m in the area. Not something I’d go hella out of the way for though!

I’m not a big boba guy so can’t comment much on that, but I like their snacks like Popcorn Chicken($ 4.99 a la carte. $ 6.99 in bento) You get a good size sack of chicken for $ 4.99( ). The chicken is nicely fried and not oily with a flavor strong on 5-spice. You can ask for spice level of 0 – 5. This is not always consistent and on average seems to have gotten tamer over time. One downside is that they no longer put fried basil in the popcorn chicken :((not my pic )

Doesn’t their logo look like the Mario Brothers One Up Mushroom? Cool bubble, or should I say mushroom tea place, in fancy Oakland. Here’s the thing, they were super slow, and I was the only one in the store, and they messed up my order. Hence the 3 stars, for giving me Oolong Tea instead of Thai Tea, and making it super sweet when I said NO sugar. Maybe they were busy trying to gather more one up mushrooms instead of paying attention.

A green, clean boba shop with lots of drink options and Taiwanese snacks/food. I got a drink and meal for around $ 10 and the quality was good! I had a jasmine green milk tea, and the boba was sweet and good texture. Sweetness can be customized. For food I had a chicken katsu, and it came with rice and vegetables. There was a lot of chicken, and it was breaded and fried just right. Still juicy and seasoned well with pepper. This would be a good place to hang with friends since they have a lot of board games. There is also some space to study too. One of the higher quality boba stops I’ve tried in the East Bay!

The name is so weird, and isn’t really inviting/appealing. However this place was the only one that was open at the hour that I was out and about. This place was crowded, but I was served right away. The girl working the counter could REALLY use some customer service skills… she was dreadful, no smile, no personality, it was like pulling teeth to get her to answer my questions about the drinks. Each tea place varies from the way they do their drink and the ingredients, so I always want to ask. She was very curt and wanted to rush me without answering anything. I ordered my Caramel Milk Tea, Strawberry Smoothie and Kiwi Smoothie. The Caramel Milk Tea tasted pretty much like any other milk tea you would expect from a tea house, I was pleasantly surprised and pleased. I saw a menu that says that you can customize your sweetness and ice levels, however the cashier did not inform me of that. Had I know, I would have requested more ice. My ice completely melted within like 10 minutes of getting my drink because it was so hot, even at night. The caramel flavor was very light and could have been a little stronger. Overall it was a nice balance. The strawberry smoothie was pretty good. It was more of a mix between a smoothie and a slush in my opinion. It had a decent strawberry flavor, it didn’t taste like a generic syrup or mix, tasted like they used real fruit. The kiwi smoothie on the other hand was super sweeeeet!!! I cant give too much info on this drink because it tasted like it was made with artificial sweetener. It left a horrid aftertaste in my mouth, it was way too sweet on the first drink and wasn’t any good. I wont rule this place out entirely, but its not somewhere I will rush to go back to or highly recommend. The product and customer service both need to be good for me and sadly they didn’t meet my expectations
