Nice park, jewel in the hood, like the hood itself. You can go a block or two and be in a nice neighborhood, but yes, the addicts do come out at night, but plenty of space, clean, beautiful surroundings, and nice amenities — nice hoop court surface and rims, children’s play gym, plenty of level grass, etc, etc. Worth a visit.

If you’re in Oakland and want a break from the city noise, stop into this quiet park. It’s always relatively empty, which could be due to the sketchiness of the entrance area. There’s a basketball court, a couple of picnic tables & about 4 jungle gyms (which is probably due to the elementary school on one side & the Head Start in the park). I’d say stop in during the day when there are people exercising and cleaning crews, but avoid it at night due to said sketchiness. But if you’re in East Oakland, you know what the deal is already, right?
